Saba Qamar To Star In A Web Series For UrduFlix

Saba Qamar + UrduFlix

During the time of the pandemic, there has been a surge in digital content around the world. Several platforms have emerged and web series have gained popularity. Leading actors have now been part of web series, such ‘Churails‘ and ‘Dhoop Ki Deewar‘.

Another top actor set to make her digital debut is Saba Qamar. She has made a name for herself not only in Pakistan but across the border as well. She is an actress par excellence and one of the finest performers in Pakistan.

What’s Next For Saba?

The actress has now joined hands with UrduFlix for a web series. Directed by Saqib Khan, this web series will be a love triangle, a romantic comedy with a thrilling angle.

While the rest of the cast of the web series is yet to be finalized, Saba Qamar has been signed on as the lead.

While the web series for UrduFlix is in the initial stages of pre-production, Saba Qamar has already shot a web series alongside Noman Ijaz, titled ‘Mann Jogi‘. This web series has been written by Saji Gul of ‘O Rangreza’ fame and will be released on Indian OTT platform Zee5.

What’s UrduFlix?

UrduFlix is a Pakistani OTT platform that was announced last year. It has been creating original content, however, this series is set to be their most high profile title.

Saba’s Current Project

Currently, Saba Qamar is working with Imran Abbas on drama serial ‘Tumhare Husn Ke Naam’. It has been directed by Saqib Khan of ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ fame. The drama’s story and screenplay are by Umera Ahmed.

Mohabbat Dagh Ki Soorat’s First Episode Fails To Impress

Mohabbat Dagh Ki Soorat

Geo TV’s drama ‘Mohabbat Dagh Ki Soorat’ aired last night. The play is written by Saira Raza, directed by Zeeshan Ahmed and produced by Abdullah Kadwani & Asad Qureshi. The cast of the show includes Sami Khan, Neelum Muneer, Syed Jibran, Sunita Marshal, Tipu Sharif, Kinza Malik, Kamran Jeelani, Sukaina, and Rashid Farooqi.

Story

The story of this play unfolds the unfortunate life of Shijrat, played by Neelum Muneer, who is a hard-working and competent college girl. Devastated by her father’s death, Shijrat along with her mother Mohsina, played by Kinza Malik, leave their home in order to live with their maternal uncle, played by Rashid Farooqi.

The drama is set in the backdrop of her uncle’s house. Shijrat’s uncle and his wife, being a courteous couple, warm-heartedly welcome dejected Shijrat and Mohsina. Her uncle has two sons and two daughters. Afaaq, played by Syed Jibran, is the eldest son. He is rude and insolent. Afaaq is married to a naive and genial woman named Saba, played by Sunita Marshal.

Shijrat’s uncle’s daughter, Maazia, is her age and very compassionate towards her. The first episode introduces Maazia’s fiancée Khalid. His character seems to have various shades, as he’s shown to be impatient and impulsive.

Sinaan Alyas, played by Sami Khan, is Shijrat’s institute friend. The first episode does not introduce and unfold much of his character. They portray that Sinaan has gotten into an accident and is temporarily crippled.

Nonetheless, the opening episode of the show did not reveal much of the story. This episode was basically focused on the suffering of Shijrat and her struggle to adapt to the new changed life. The story has certain loopholes.

What particularly looked odd was Shijrat is shown as a college girl, who attends an institute as well. However, she tells her cousin Afaaq that she goes to an academy after college. The actual building shown as Shijrat’s institute is Nazeer Hussain University (NHU) Karachi. The writer could have simply shown Shijrat and Sinan as university students.

Performances

Performances of all the characters are moderate. However, neither of the performances are show-stealing. Neelam Muneer and Kinza Malik’s scenes are emotional but the performances could have been more heart-tugging. Sami Khan has a limited screen presence in the first episode, therefore his performance as Sinaan cannot be critically evaluated.

Syed Jibran convincingly plays the role of an impertinent man. However, he has played multiple negative roles in the past, hence his performance doesn’t seem different. Sunita Marshal’s character appears to have a limited acting margin as her role merely has a mono-shade of naivety.

Aarez Ahmed’s performance as Khalid is worth praising. Although he only has one scene in the first episode yet he showcases multiple shades of his character and a sense of intrigue developed in the audience to discover more about his role.

Direction

The direction of ‘Mohabbat Dagh Ki Soorat’ is neither completely astounding nor extremely indecorous. The underlying emotional backdrop of the play provides a substantial expense for an extremely poignant execution and direction of the story. Though the execution of this play could have been more emotive. Succeeding episodes may witness a more gripping direction.

Conclusion

The first episode of this play does not set forth a clutching start. This project evidently lacks in standing out from the rest of the present time dramas. Nonetheless, the success of the story and the advent of other characters may spice up the story and make this project worth watching.

Ayesha Omar Spills The Beans On Her Upcoming Projects

Ayesha Omar

Over the course of time, ever since the self-proclaimed revival of the Pakistani film industry, we have had very few good thrillers. There have been excellent films that speak of social causes and highly entertaining romantic comedies, but there hasn’t been a good mystery film brimming with action and thrill.

But perhaps things might change as KKFilms is gearing up to bring a big thriller based on the story of the serial killer Javed Iqbal. Titled ‘The Untold Story of a Serial Killer: Javed Iqbal’, the film will be helmed by Abu Aleeha and will star Ayesha Omar and Yasir Hussain in the lead roles.

The Synopsis

The story is based on the bone-chilling case of the namesake serial killer and rapist, Javed Iqbal. The case was macabre as the killer was responsible for abusing, torturing and murdering not one but more than a hundred children in Lahore. When he was caught, Javed Iqbal was sentenced to death in the same way he treated his targets.

Who Was Javed Iqbal?

Javed Iqbal is famously said to have been active in Lahore between 1998 and 1999. The serial killer used to dissolve the dead bodies of the children he murdered and abused in acid to get rid of the evidence.

Talking to Galaxy Lollywood, Ayesha Omar shed light on not only her character but a few interesting aspects of the movie and her upcoming projects.

Ayesha Omar’s Character

“The movie is based on true events from 1999 and is set in Punjab. I’m playing the role of a police officer in charge of the case. This is one of the most challenging cases of my career,” shared the ‘Bulbulay’ starlet.

Adding further, Ayesha said that since the shoot of the film was still going on, the character presented itself with new challenges every day. “When I’m on set, it’s very hard to disconnect from this character. She’s investigating the gory details of the case and on top of that, she’s a woman so she feels everything more. It’s an intense story with horrifying details and I don’t really have any reference for preparing for the role so I keep myself out there thinking how this woman must have been feeling in real life and it certainly is draining.” The ‘Karachi Se Lahore’ actress also shared that she felt that a character might lose its authentication if there are so many references so she just focused on emoting more naturally.

Details On The Film

“The shoot has started and we plan to release the film this year. News is ripe that cinemas might be opened around the end of October or start of November so we plan to finish shooting likewise and release the film as soon as cinemas reopen,” stated Ayesha.

Talking about the content of the film and how it has been something extraordinarily dark, Ayesha stated, “The film is very dark and emotionally challenging. As an actor, you feel an emotional connection to the character you’re playing. You start to feel its emotions and see the world through its eyes. We actors are very sensitive people as this sensitivity helps us get into the skin of the characters we portray on screen. This particular character was very challenging for me to play.”

Ayesha shared that ‘The Untold Story of a Serial Killer: Javed Iqbal’ is an adaptation of Abu Aleeha’s novel of the name ‘Kukri‘ that he researched and wrote a few years ago about Javed Iqbal and his heinous crimes. “The treatment of this plot has been very sensitive as it was the requirement of the film.”

Other Upcoming Projects

She revealed details about her other films that are in the pipeline. “‘Dhaai Chaal’ is on hold since COVID-19 happened. We have shot almost 90% of the film. Only a small sequence is left and we’ll wind up that as soon as the conditions are favourable.”

Ayesha Omar has also been busy working on a film with Ahsan Khan, titled ‘Rehbara’. About when this would hit the cinemas, she added, “We’re only left with one sequence of ‘Rehbara’. It’s a very important sequence and would need only 24 hours of shooting, so I’m excited about this too”

Ayesha Omar also shared that she had been busy working on ‘Money Back Guarantee’ alongside a Kamran Shahid directorial that dealt with the Indo-Pak partition. “I’m playing a very intense character of a journalist in that one as well so I’m rather excited for it to come out. Let’s hope the world is able to fight COVID-19 and we get to watch our films on the big screen soon.”

Love, Thrill and Action: Falak Shabir Releases New Music Video ‘Lagay Pyari’ Ft. Sarah Khan

One of the leading artists of Pakistan’s pop music industry, Falak Shabir has come out with another romantic single ‘Lagay Pyari’, dedicated solely to his wife Sarah Khan. The music video can be seen on Massive Mix Records’ YouTube channel.

After winning the hearts of his fans with his recent song ‘Zindagi’, the singer is all set to light up the dance floor with this ultimate groove worthy number that explores love in the pages of adrenaline, thrill, and action.

Action And Thrill

The music video of this song is a brilliant fusion of fast-paced action with some swoon-worthy romantic drama, shot alluringly in a dream-like scenario, giving the viewer the impression that it’s all happening in the mind of the singer, who’s remembering his beloved, like a valiant fighter, in the middle of fast-paced action.

The video begins with the singer arriving just in time to gallantly save the girl from the clutches of his enemy. The battle ensues and every now and then, we get stunning glimpses of Sarah Khan, tied to a chair, looking for her saviour who has vowed to keep her safe and protected from the enemies.

The Theme

Throughout the song, we hear light-hearted Punjabi lyrics intertwined with the battlefield lingo, comparing the magic of the beloved with grenade, sniper, and fire, unique way of describing the power of your lover’s charm that grips you from every front, comparable to the force of action that engulfs one on a battlefield.

Saari raat mei karta hun tera intezar sajni, Sniper lagti hai teri nazar ki ye takni… Kyun pyar bhari ankhiyon say Grenade girati hai, jab daayen baayen say yun meray guzar k jaati hai

With exciting camera work, filled with dynamic movements, fresh angles and brilliant action choreography, the fast-paced action sequence beautifully culminates in Falak Shabir finally rescuing Sarah Khan who swings a saucepan at the gangster lurking behind her beloved hidden from his sight.

The Couple’s Dedication

What makes the song more special is the fact that Sarah Khan was 8 months pregnant during the shoot. The singer was full of praise for his wife. He said: “I have no words to express how immensely proud I am of Sarah for courageously taking on this difficult feat of shooting a video with me in her 8th month of pregnancy, which I am sure is a huge thing for any woman in this condition.”

Is Khushhal Khan Television’s Next Big Thing?

Khushhal Khan

Khushhal Khan has been the talk of the town in recent times with his eye-catching ad campaigns for various brands. He first came under the spotlight during a clothing campaign for an Indian brand, which made him a ‘national crush’. The campaign created a stir on social media due to it being from the neighbouring country but shot in Pakistan with models from here. Khushhal’s pictures from the aesthetically beautiful campaign went viral and some even dubbed him as the young Shahrukh Khan. Watching him dance and perform during the campaign, several people became curious on Twitter whether he’ll be working in television shows or movies.

He made his acting debut in the infamous web series ‘Midsummer Chaos’ this year. While it did not receive positive reviews, but Khushhal’s performance was praised and brought him into the limelight. At the same time, he also won the title of the Rising Star at HUM Style Awards, which further cemented the idea that he’s here to stay.

Now he is stepping into the world of television where he will be starring in three major projects. Starting with his mainstream television debut with HUM TV’s upcoming drama ‘Qissa Meherbano Ka’. Then there is a telefilm where he will be sharing the screen with Bilal Ashraf and Mahira Khan and another television drama alongside Alizeh Shah.

All of which he got candid about during an interview with Galaxy Lollywood.

Modelling To Acting

According to Khushhal, he has waited for the right moment to transition from modelling to web series, and now television. He said: “I’ve always wanted to be an actor and a model. I was very passionate about it. But I didn’t want to just get into it acting without knowing the craft or without any experience. So for me, after I started modelling I wanted to get into acting because then I had that experience or was ready for it.”

Television Projects

The promising artist revealed details about his character, Ayaz in ‘Qissa Meherbano Ka’, also starring Ahsan Khan, Mawra Hocane, Mashal Khan, Zaviyar Naumaan, Mohammad Ahmad, Ghazala Kaifi, Zeb Rehman, and Laila Zuberi. He said: “The character is of a boy who is treated poorly in his household and how, with time, he has built this anger towards everyone.”

The teasers of the drama highlight Khushhal’s character in a tussle with Mashal Khan and displaying a special bond with Mawra Hocane. The drama is written by the acclaimed Fakhra Jabeen and directed by ‘Zebaish’s‘ Iqbal Hussain. It will be premiering on

Khushhal will also be seen in another HUM TV’s drama ‘Lekin’, starring Ali Rehman Khan, Alizeh Shah, Javed Sheikh, Farhan Ali Agha, Waseem Abbas, Ismat Zaidi, Hina Rizvi, Shagufta Ejaz, Eshal Fayyaz.

He mentioned that both the roles in the respective dramas are different from each other and are very interesting.

On working with two leading actresses, Mawra Hocane in ‘Qissa Meherbano Ka’ and Alizeh Shah in ‘Lekin’, Khushhal said: “It was a pleasure to work with them. They’re very good at what they do and very professional yet very kind.”

Telefilm Debut

The emerging talent is also part of an ARY Digital telefilm, ‘Eik Hai Nigar’, which is a biopic on Lieutenant General Nigar Johar Khan starring Bilal Ashraf and Mahira Khan. Khushhal said: “My character’s name is Shahid, who is Nigar’s brother. They both share a very strong bond.”

He showed his excitement for people to see his work in the film. He divulged: “It’s a completely different role and a very challenging one.”

Talking about working with Mahira Khan, he stated: “It was amazing. She’s one of the sweetest, kindest people and very humble. She has changed everything for me, in a very good way. She’s a superstar for a reason.”

Khushhal Khan has been on a roll; from one big project to another. Being part of the industry for a year and a half, he is already on his way to achieving stardom. It will be interesting to see if he will be able to fulfil the expectations and justify the hype through these upcoming projects.

Did You Know That These Popular Dramas Had Different Titles Before?

Dramas

Sometimes certain titles can build curiosity among the audiences even before the show begins. However, there are instances where creators decide to change the titles due to different issues.

Here’s a list of dramas that were titled differently before they aired on television.

Zakham

Faysal Quraishi and Syeda Madiha Imam starrer ‘Zakham’ aired in 2017 on ARY Digital. The story focuses on the life of a young girl who marries a man with a complex psychological disorder. It also has a powerful cameo of actress Sarwat Gilani. ‘Zakham’ was previously titled ‘Yaar Na Bichray’. The teasers of the project had also been released with the same name. Later, it faced a delay and the makers changed the name.

Aisi Hai Tanhai

Sami Khan and Sonya Hussyn’s ‘Aisi Hai Tanhai’ aired in 2017 on ARY Digital. Directed by Badar Mehmood of ‘Dunk’ and ‘Ishqiya’ and written by Moshin Ali, the story highlighted the life of a victim of cybercrimes and other tragedies.

Aisi Hai Tanhai’ was originally titled ‘Raqs e Bismil’, actress and anchor Nadia Khan, who made her acting comeback with the project, revealed in one of her youtube videos that she suggested the director to change the title.

Thora Sa Haq

One of the most loved on-screen pairs, Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan, returned to screens in 2019 with ARY Digital’s ‘Thora Sa Haq’, after the massive success of their previous ventures ‘Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai’, ‘Koi Chaand Rakh’ and ‘Tum Kon Piya’.

‘Thora Sa Haq’ was tentatively titled ‘Bheegi Palkain’ but before it could make it to the TV screens, the creators had changed the title.

Jo Tu Chahay

Another Imran Abbas starrer, ‘Jo Tu Chahay’, also featuring Alizay Shah, Ahmad Taha Ghani and Zarnish Khan was titled ‘Kun Faya Kun’, however, after receiving a backlash due to it being extracted from a Quranic verse, HUM TV creators was ordered by PEMRA to change its name. The regulatory authority received several complaints about the OST and the title of the drama hurting religious sentiments. The story revolved around an orphan girl who was mistreated and harassed by her aunts and cousin.

Pyaar Ke Sadqay

HUM TV’s ‘Pyar Ke Sadqay’ did exceptionally well last year with its commendable storytelling and top-notch performances and direction. Featuring Bilal Abbas Khan and Yumna Zaidi as the main leads. The drama touched upon several social issues including problematic parenting, infidelity and mental health. ‘Pyar Ke Sadqay’ was titled ‘Chungal’ before it aired on TV, but during the composition of the Original Sound Track, the makers decided to change the title.

Phaans

Recently ended HUM TV drama ‘Phaans’ has an impactful storyline. Starring Sami Khan, Shahzad Sheikh and Zara Noor Abbas. ‘Phaans’ was initially titled ‘Badzaat’. Actress Zara Noor Abbas herself had shared the title of the project through her social media earlier when she started shooting for it, but soon the makers decided to change the title to ‘Phaans’.

Pakistani Short Film ‘Bhai’ Set To Premiere At Toronto International Film Festival

Short film Bhai

There has been a surge in the creation of short films in Pakistan since the past year with many of them proving to be huge hits. Pakistani short film ‘Bhai’ has been selected to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival in September. The film will be a huge milestone for representation in Pakistani media.

The movie has been written and directed by Hamza Bangash and executive produced by Mina Husain of Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning (PILL) and Salman Ahmed. It has been co-produced by Taha Sabri of Taskeen and Westbury Group and Carol Noronha.

Story

The story revolves around two brothers. One of the brothers is on the autism spectrum, and he has an episode while he waits for his older brother to return from picking up their food on Independence Day.

The older brother watches his younger brother struggle from inside the restaurant and must decide a course of action. The story unfolds whether he will have the courage to help his autistic brother, or if he will ignore his plight.

The official synopsis states: “The film is about the choices we make, shame, trauma, brotherhood and finding a small sliver of happiness in a brutal world.”

Inspiration

Bangash told Images Dawn that the film was inspired by the experiences of his collaborator, Mohammad Ali Hashmi, who also plays the role of co-lead in the film.

He added: “I remember watching the Pakistani drama ‘Phaans’, and was shocked when it was revealed that the autistic character turned out to be falsely behaving in such a manner so that he could get away with sexual violence. To villainise an already stigmatised community through the media infuriates me.” This motivated Bangesh to depict an authentic depiction of it.

A Huge Milestone

The creators have cast a differently-abled actor, Ayan Javaid, to play the lead. This is huge for the representation of differently-abled people in Pakistani media. Besides being an actor, Ayan is also an animation artist and musician.

Hoping this is just the start of more Pakistani movies and artists being internationally recognised and appreciated.

Pak-Turk Entertainment Venture Series To Depict Life of Salahuddin Ayyubi

Pak-Turk Venture

Leading Turkish Media Company Akli Films and Pakistan’s Ansari Films have signed a contract for a joint entertainment venture. Emre Konuk, the owner of the Akli Films, took to Twitter on Friday to share this thrilling news.

According to him, the joint project is a series based on the life of the most prominent Islamic hero, Salahuddin Ayyubi. The project was signed after two days of negotiation in Serbia. Emre Konuk, Adnan Siddiqui, Dr Kashif Ansari and Dr Syed Junaid Ali Shah were all part of the negotiations.

Superstar Humayun Saeed had shown keen interest in creating a project based on the life of Salahuddin Ayyubi sometimes back. He is one of the producers of this venture.

Emre Konuk is a well-known Turkish producer, director and screenwriter. He has produced and directed some internationally-famed series, as well as co-directed the popular series ‘Yonus Emre’ and ‘The Great Seljuks: Guardians of Justice’. Emre Konuk’s creative work in the period-history genre is particularly famed.

About the project

The series will comprise four historical seasons, depicting the remarkable life of Salahuddin Ayyubi, who was the son of an ordinary Kurdish soldier. He ultimately became Sultan of Egypt and conquered Jerusalem ruled by crusaders for 88 years.

He spent two decades of his life in an onerous struggle to save the sacred land of Jerusalem. His enemies even acknowledged his bravery, justice and honesty. His journey entails the shades of faith, struggle, bravery, consistency and hope which makes his story worth depicting.

Ahmet Faruk Bakacak, who is a Media Communications Director at Akli Films, will research and write the script of the series. Signatories of the contract maintained that the series will rightly project the real Islamic culture and history.

Cast and shooting

In the contract-signing ceremony, Emre Konuk stated that it will be a good economic and cultural initiative for Turkey and Pakistan. It is agreed that the actors from both countries will participate in the series.

Adnan Siddiqui added that according to the contractual provisions, 25% of the cast will be from Pakistan. He further added that the series will mainly be shot in Turkey.

Pak-Turk collaboration in past

Earlier this year, a Turkish delegate which consisted of Turkish directors and producers, met Prime Minister, Imran Khan. In an official statement by Prime Minister Office, it was circulated that Imran Khan has particularly urged the Pak-Turk Entertainment Industry to create Muslim-history inspired projects.

In furtherance of this objective, Ansari Films signed a joint series with Tekden Film by the title of ‘Turk Lala’ in January this year.

A big opportunity

Turkish series have humongous viewership worldwide. These shows often occupy the highest ranks in TRPs. By virtue of this popularity, Islamic history will be rightly promulgated which will subsequently help in lessening the prevailing Islamophobia in the world.

Furthermore, the joint entertainment ventures will provide ample opportunities to Pakistani actors, directors, producers and other related individuals to learn and showcase their talent on international platforms.

Extramarital Affairs & Divorces: These 8 Dramas Are Narrating The Same Story

Dramas with the same storyline

Pakistani dramas are mostly applauded for their diverse and distinct stories, however, few dramas appear to have similar storylines. Critics believe that few typical story plots always succeed in grasping the attention of targeted audiences. Such stories also perform moderately well in terms of TRPs. Hence, creators tend to follow stereotypical stories rather than experimenting with new genres. Here is a list of Pakistani dramas that have similar storylines:

‘Ijazat’

‘Ijazat’ aired on ARY Digital drama in 2010. The drama is written by Seema Ghazal, directed by Misbah Khalid and produced by Samina Humayun. The show has acclaimed actors in the leading cast including Humayun Saeed, Ayesha Khan and Sadia Immam.

Nijaat is married to an ordinary-looking yet rich man. She possesses a desperate urge of entering showbiz.

Subsequently, Hamza and Nijaat marry after an extramarital affair. The latter half of the story shows the two opposite female protagonists along with the guilt of Hamza. Nonetheless, he divorces Nijaat and in the end, Muqadis divorces Hamza. The story is a typical triangle of a married couple befouled by a homewrecker.

Seemab, played by Mira Sethi, being a selfish and opportunist girl, successfully attracts Moazzam and finally enters his rich world as his second wife. Ultimately, the story meets a predictable end. Moazzam realizes the atrocious personality of Seemab and Shazma being a stereotypical Pakistani wife forgives Moazzam.

Maan’ aired on HUM TV in 2015. The drama is written by Syed Shehla Shakoor, directed by Amin Iqbal and produced by Abdullah Kadwani, Asad Qureshi and Mikaal Zulfiqar. The cast includes Mikaal Zulfiqar, Kiran Haq, Maha Warsi and Seemi Raheel.

‘Maan’ is yet another story of a broken home at the hands of an envious woman. The drama revolves around the happily married couple of Imaan, played by Mikaal Zulfiqar, and Wafa, played by Kiran Haq. They have two young daughters.

One of their daughter’s heart illnesses paves way for turmoil in their life. The couple struggles in collecting money for surgery. Imaan marries Maya, his first love, in exchange for money. In the end, Imaan returns to Wafa and she, being a stereotypical wife, forgives his actions.

‘Naimat’

‘Laut Kay Chalay Aana’

‘Laut Kay Chalay Aana’ is a similar tale of a troubled marriage and an extramarital affair. This drama aired on Geo Entertainment in 2017. It is written by Shahzad Javed, directed by ZEEKAY and produced by Asif Noor and Huma Khan. The star cast includes Noman Ejaz, Savera Nadeem, Sharmeen Ali and Arisha Razi

The drama projects the story of Farhan, played by Noman Ijaz and Zainab, played by Savera Nadeem. They are parents of two grown-up girls. Farhan accuses Zainab that she has just limited herself as a mother and has forgotten her role as a wife.

Meanwhile, a young girl named Areeba enters Farhan’s life. Farhan marries her. Nonetheless, this tale ends on a typical note as well where Farhan returns to Zainab.

Tum Say Hi Taluq Hai’

Saadan soon marries Rahma and divorces Alina. The drama ends with Rahma, taking all the money from Saadan and leaving him in a pitiful situation.

‘Mohabbatein Chahatein’

‘Mohabbatein Chahatein’ is a HUM TV project that aired in 2020. It is written by Samira Fazal, directed by Ali Hassan and produced by Momina Duraid. The show stars Junaid Khan, Hira Mani, Armeena Rana and Tipu Sharif in leading roles.

The drama narrates the story of a happily married couple and a devious woman, with an anguished desire to ruin their relationship. Faraz, played by Junaid Khan and Sneha, played by Hira Mani have been married for ten years. They have a son too. Their life is shown to be perfect and they are madly in love with each other.

Tara, played by Armeena Rana, after separating from her husband, who is Faraz’s friend, starts living in Sneha’s house. The story takes several twists and at last, Junaid indulges in an affair with Tara. The drama ends on an unsurprising note where Tara’s reality reveals itself to Faraz and he apologizes to Sneha. Like Shazma, Sneha forgives her husband too.

The above-mentioned dramas not only have a similar story plot but witness the exact sequence of events as well. A typical storyline with a predictable end engulfs the particularity of each project. It is important that creators must produce dramas on some novel concepts to maintain the distinctiveness of each show since repeated premises can stifle creativity and starve the viewers of new stories and ideas.
