I’m sorry but this new song “Engreeza”from Main Hoon Shahid Afridi is out-wright cheap!

I’m sure that almost everyone of you at one point in life has heard one such  song that has made you wonder what the hell was the lyricist thinking while writing it. I too have had my share of such jaw dropping songs ( on the top of   my mind right now is I want Fakht you from the Bollywood film Joker).  Songs with such tacky lyrics  are common in Indian films and I don’t really need to give examples because I’m sure you can google and find plenty of such songs yourself.

Not only Indian films but our very low-quality Pakistani Punjabi films have also had extremely vulgar lyrics in the songs. But l I would not like to discuss them because at the end of the day these films are made for a certain audience and the target market requires such cheap lyrics.

mhsa

But for Humayun Saeed to add such a song in his film Main Hoon Shahid Afridi  has me all confused. Well honestly the film had everything going for it, good actors, great story, good music, excellent promotions and all. This song does not do any wonders for this film rather takes away audience! The song is titled “Engreeza” and the main line goes like “Engreja teri pehn nu…” leaving nothing much for imagination. Not only the lyrics but the choreography is also a bit mmmm! You better see it for yourself.

tacky

Anyway  to check if my extreme reaction was valid I first asked a couple of my friends that were they aware of the film Main Hoon Shahid Afridi and they said “yes, and we are excited for its release this eid”. Then I showed them the song and they were like “Yaar yeh toh bad scene hay, matlab the film will have such language in it too!”  This song does tend to make one uncomfortable with family and I hope for the films sake Humayun decides to drop it from the film.

faisal

P.S We spotted Faisal Qureshi in the song and he looks rather dapper ( though dont know whats up with that weird tattoo). Also spotted was Summer Nicks whom we just interviewed. Moreover Gauhar Rasheed has got some serious moves and outshines the main lead Noman Habib in the song. Go check it out at the link below and let us know what you think of it in the comments section.

  1. might be alright as part of film but not out of context. The angreez are well known for swearing during matches to ‘out psyche’ opponents

  2. Well its your opinion about the lyrics but nothing so bad with. Its just for entertainment and keep it mind its a film not an Islamic program and in a film one can add a little bit masti. But you can say about coreography it sucks.looks like those old typical punjabi films moves.

  3. Well, the song made me go LOL. It serves the purpose well in the film. And I even liked the choreography because some western moves from these paindoo Sialkoti kids would have appeared odd. So the desi moves were fine I think. Besides, people watch Hollywood with families these days so let’s not fall victims to double standards because almost every Hollywood movie has the work ‘F**k’ in it which, though not a swear word anymore, but it isn’t long since it was. So when families can comfortably watch that, ‘teri pain’ must be okay too. Knowing Punjabi, I can safely say that this isn’t a serious offense.
