Eman Suleman, the up-and-coming Pakistani actress and model, has always been rather outspoken about women’s rights and the associated issues. Most recently, in an Instagram post, Eman called out the Pakistani industry for supporting sexual predators.

In the era of the #MeToo movement and the women finally having a platform to voice their concerns and the injustices done to them, this comes as a positive reinforcement for those struggling to highlight women’s issues in this society.

The Instagram Post

The caption of Eman’s Instagram post reads as follow:

“Impossibly angry at fools (especially in this entertainment industry) who provide these accused harassers with a space which further gives them more latitude, and in turn, more power and influence… you’re encouraging the disgusting, vile behaviour they’ve been accused of, and also, encouraging others to do so by demonstrating that they can get away with it without any serious repercussions.”

She continued by mentioning how she is an opinionated woman and will always remain one, “what the hell is wrong with all of you? No amount of money and fame is worth it.
Though this has been said many a time before, the conversation must keep on happening, over and over and over. I am an opinionated woman, and will remain so – you can call it a publicity stunt or whatever you want.”

Eman also urged the audience to stop concerning themselves so much about who is right and who is wrong in this ongoing debate. To put it in her own words, “If you are so bothered by this, then please take out the time to learn about these things and understand why this is so prevalent which we have seen through the MeToo movement. Think of ways to overcome it. You aren’t helping anyone when you pass comments while hiding behind a screen.”

Towards the end, the star of Sarmad Khoosat’s upcoming Punjabi film encouraged the audience to “think of a solution.” She said that it’s a long process, but it has to start somewhere. Additionally, she mentioned how it’s also time to “stop downplaying the harassment of men.”

Jami Responds

Jami, the Pakistani film director of Moor’s fame, consequently responded to Eman’s Instagram post. His responses come as a pleasant surprise as he supports the model through and through.

In the above post on his Facebook, Jami announced that they will be taking down the oil commercial that they recently did, in support of Eman Suleman. Although no names were mentioned of the actors or the oil brand, we did some digging regardless and found out that it was probably a Dalda Ad from last year.

Fortunately, the story doesn’t end here. Jami, in a series of posts on his Facebook, announced that they will not rent any of their cameras to any sexual predators.

He also mentioned that they will boycott any and all post-production work to sexual predators in the industry.
