“I’m Not Leaving The Industry!,” Clarifies Kubra Khan

Kubra Khan was recently all over our newsfeeds because of a certain viral interview. In a candid chat, the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 star had talked about her newfound spiritual side and that besides showbiz, she also has other ambitions and priorities in life, mental health and striking the right work-life balance being among them.

The entire exchange led many to believe that like Hamza Ali Abbasi, Kubra too was ready to bid adieu to the world of shining lights and glamor, and move on to her calling. You can read about it here.

“I love what I do to bits”

After much noise and hullabaloo, Kubra reached out to Galaxy Lollywood to clear the air. She told us that her comments had been misinterpreted, further clarifying in no uncertain terms that she was here to stay: “I love my art. I love what I do to bits. The fact that we can get to empathize with characters that are drawn from real-life situations, a lot of the time” said the Alif lass.

Explaining her point further, she said empathizing with people in those situations taught her more about the people around her. The fact that she could use her position to do good, to enlighten people is what made her love her job.

Striking the right balance

On loving acting, she said: “I will try to find my balance within the industry, within my acting career. If God forbid, I am unable to that, then I will leave.’

She said that in order to achieve that balance, she will try to choose the right kind of projects, projects that attempt to do right and which allow her heart, soul, and mind to be at peace. “The projects that make me happy and the projects that add value to my understanding of the duniya and the deen,” are what would be going for, ideally.

On leaving the industry

Kubra said that, if for some reason, she is unable to balance her priorities and finds her work deviating her from the path she needs to follow, then, since she considers herself a Muslim first before being an actor, she will leave as she wants to remain in God’s good books.

She acknowledged that she’s human, not a saint, so if she’s trying to make herself a better person than she was yesterday, that doesn’t mean she’s leaving the industry because she genuinely believes that the platform can be used to do good.

Putting the grapevine to rest, Kubra said, “So no, I’m not leaving the industry. Unless, years down, I feel like I’m not doing what I set out to do, then yes I will change paths and this has nothing to do with money.” The Alif actress further clarified that her comments on the monetary aspect of showbiz had been taken out of context, and that it had all actually been said in a lighthearted way and that monetary gains did not affect her decision at all.

Not becoming a scholar

Kubra also added that she prays Allah helps her keep life and priorities balanced and that this by no means implies that she’s becoming a scholar. “I’m no religious scholar. I’m just somebody who wants to learn the right way of life and I will try my best to do everything in my power to do that. I’m just somebody who wants to be guided on a path that makes Allah happy and not the path that makes him upset at me.”

Final word

“That’s all there is. I’m not leaving the industry!,” the JPNA2 diva ended her message on this concrete note.

We wish Kubra the best for the future and sincerely hope she finds the perfect balance between deen and duniya that can keep her on the right path along with keeping our screens lit with her phenomenal presence!
