I Didn’t Want To Do Stereotypical Television Roles: Resham

Resham

Recently Faseeh Bari Khan has been talking about how he had to change the script for the Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar starrer ‘7 Din Mohabbat In’ and how he thought that change absolutely destroyed the soul of his story. Faseeh also stated that if he would get a chance, he would direct his script himself in the future and it seems he has gotten that chance now. The writer-director is now working on his debut short film titled ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ with none other than the gorgeous film turned television star Resham in the lead.

Resham, who recently shot for See Prime’s short film ‘Long Distance’, which is earning rave reviews on the internet, had a lot to say about working for the digital realm and exploring characters she hadn’t done before.

Resham’s Idea Behind Signing ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’

Talking to Galaxy Lollywood exclusively, Resham shared how the role offered to her in ‘Long Distance’ and ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ were both something new. “I had been getting offers for characters that were very stereotypical from television. I didn’t want to do those. I don’t want to act just for the sake of it but do something that fulfils me. With Faseeh, I know how he creates his dark humour and how he blows life into it, so I absolutely loved the script and character in ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’. I liked the idea that was offered to me in the script,” said the starlet.

Talking about working with Abdullah Ejaz and new talent on her recent projects, Resham added, “I prefer working with new people because they have a lot of potential. I like to take risks because they have always paid off for me. The new people coming into the industry are very talented and they work professionally. This gives me a lot of motivation.”

Resham shared how she had fallen in love with the character offered to her by Faseeh. “I really liked the character and since it was Faseeh’s so I couldn’t say no. I have already worked with Faseeh on ‘Mohabbat Jaye Bhar Mai’ and it was a super hit serial for Hum TV. And I’m sure ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ would also be appreciated for what it is.”

“People get scared working for Fasih because it does not have a lot of glamour. His work requires you to showcase your talent and that is exactly what I’ve been looking for now. In the past, I have had to do work to earn my bread and butter for the family. I’ve done characters that I would never want to do but since they fueled my kitchen, I did those. But that time is gone now and I now want to explore my passion for acting,” added the actress.

Talking about the story, Resham shared: “This is a story about a couple in a live-in relationship and their breakup. The idea is different and it’s something that has never been done before. You’ll see a lot of pain and broken hearts in this story but it has a very unique factor, of that I can assure you.”

YouTube Release Of The Short Film

Being no stranger to censorship, Faseeh Bari Khan avoided the risk and will be releasing ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ on YouTube. Highlighting in a recent interview with Dawn Images that releasing his projects on YouTube allowed him more creative freedom than television, Faseeh shared: “We realized that the kind of content I can’t make for television, I can put up on YouTube. I have an upcoming short length film for YouTube, it is called ‘Gulzar’ and tackles the subject of sexuality. It is hard to do this kind of stuff for television anymore. You can see the state of content on television for yourself. YouTube really helps us fulfil our inner satisfaction in this sense.”

Sharing her two cents on the short film releasing on the digital platform, Resham shared: “The audience for YouTube is the youth and I really want the youth to witness my work now. This is one of the main reasons I took this up. YouTube being a platform allows you to explore different genres without any restriction and is open to the youth, which is part of the reason why I took up the short film as well.”

‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ is a short-length film and will see Faseeh Bari Khan and Faiza Hasan working on the project with Resham and Abdullah Ejaz in the lead.
