While this superhit saga has nothing meaningful to serve, the drama is doing great in terms of numbers at the same time. Let’s deconstruct the immense popularity of the show and the possible reasons behind its success.

Plot

The basic plotline of Mere HumSafar is nothing but another version of a classic fairytale Cinderella story. Haala, played by Hania Aamir, has been living with her paternal family since her father left her in Pakistan after his divorce with his first wife and went back abroad. Ever since, this poor damsel in distress is being tortured by her vicious aunt and cousins. Years later Hamza, Haala’s first cousin, played by Farhan Saeed, returns to Pakistan after completing his degree – and guess what? He turns out to be a knight in shining armour for the heroine and marries her despite strong opposition from the family.

The storyline is quite predictable, yet keeps the viewer hooked to the typical family drama in each episode. It is rather a situational saga which attracts the masses due to sensationalism and melodrama.
