Like every year, this year too we had a long list of Ramzan dramas airing on our favorite channels. Hum TV and Geo Entertainment participated in the race with full zest but nothing this year came close to the standards set by the likes of Suno Chanda and HumTum in the past year. However, we pick our favorite Ramzan drama for 2023 from the 4 that aired across Geo and Hum. Read on and let us know whether you agree with us or not.
Fairy Tale
As far as the best Ramzan drama this year goes, Fairy Tale checked all the boxes. Great script? Check. Good direction? Check. Believable acting? Check. Amazing casting? Double check (excellent pairing for Farjad and Umeed) and of course, tension and chemistry between the leads? Check. Check. Check. Without a doubt, Fairy Tale emerged as the clear winner this season. Saira Majeed, undoubtedly came across with a wonderful script while Ali Hassan blew life into it with this creative direction. Hamza Sohail and Sehar Khan delivered relatable performances and overall this was a beautiful, light hearted show to watch this season and enjoy.
Chand Tara
Saima Akram Chaudhry’s script failed to weave its magic like the years gone by. Chand Tara didn’t come across as an engaging show, even after having the likes of Danish Taimoor and Ayeza Khan in the lead. In fact after watching only a few episodes of Chand Tara one wondered and yearned for it to end. Reason? Unrealistic family values depicted in the show. I mean, who from the desi joint family system would not want to break away and set up a life of their own, even when you have a supportive husband. Yes the idea was ideal but it was a far cry away from reality.
Heer Da Hero
Amar Khan and Imran Ashraf made up for a jaunty lovable pair in Heer Da Hero on Geo Entertainment. The drama was fun filled and delivered light hearted comedy throughout Ramzan. Written by Amar Khan this one drama certainly showed that the actress has a knack for writing as well. We loved Heer and her hero for all the laughter they brought to us. However, despite the strong performances by Amar and Ashraf, the drama failed to live up to its potential. The writing and acting couldn’t do much to save a weak story.
Tere Aany Se
After they impressed the audience with their pairing in Qalandar, Muneeb Butt and Komal Meer paired up for this Ramzan special on Geo. Tere Aany Se was again a light hearted romantic comedy that entertained audience with its story. Written by Samra Bukhari, Tere Aany Se promised a lot in the initial episodes but failed to deliver. Too much of everything can be a problem, and that is exactly what we saw this Ramzan. Too many family-centric stories and forced story lines have made it hard for audiences to like Ramzan dramas in the same way they did before.
