After making us fall in love with her in Bin Roye and Janaan, Armeena Khan is all set to blow us away with a British Sci-Fi project this time. Yes, you read it right, get all set to see her in a completely new avatar this time around.
Titled ‘The Achilles Protocol (TAP),’ it is a short film about a conflict between super hacker and an artificial intelligence gone rogue. With several nuclear warheads in the sky, the hacker has minutes to shut down the rogue act and disable the warheads.
In past few years we have seen Pakistani Cinema turn its game up with a decent amount of movies being released. Starting with Punjabi films to Urdu speaking movies, the face of Pakistani Cinema has been revolutionised in recent times.
Shoaib Mansoor is without doubt one of the most, if not the most, important individual when it comes to the revival of Pakistani Cinema. It was his directorial debut ‘Khuda Kay Liyay’ which kick started this new wave back in 2007 and it was his second film Bol, released in 2011, which took things a few notches higher.
Pakistani movies have everything. Comedy, romance, drama, thrill, you name it, and their strongest trait? It’s how well entrenched they are with reality and prevailing issues of the country; from Khuda Kay Liye to Na Maloom Afraad, just take five seconds and think about how well all these movies were connected with our daily lives and issues.
Similarly, a topic that is fast gaining popularity among the local filmmakers is that of morning shows, their hosts, and their content. Nobody is blind to the popularity of morning shows that have undoubtedly crossed the skies. While Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai, previously and very recently, had Sajal Ali playing a wife and morning show host, and unleashed a lot about the planted shows and tactics used by the people involved to grab ratings, it’s upcoming Hina Dilpazeer and Naseeruddin Shah starer, Jeewan Hathi, that will once again put some light on the topic, in a comic tone this time.
The Zinda Bhaag duo of Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi are back with this latest offering of theirs, starring Samiya Mumtaz, Adnan Jaffar, Nimra Bucha among many other exciting names and apart from the two bigwigs mentioned earlier. Written by Faseeh Bari Khan of ‘Qudosi Saheb Ki Bewah’ and produced by Mazhar Zaidi, it has already become an awaited film of the year.
“It is dark comedy highlighting the corruption and malpractice in our media,” the writer said while commenting on the film.
The official trailer of the film is out and the movie is given the release date of November 4, 2016. The trailer showed Hina Dilpazir in the role of a morning show host. Talking in an interview Dilpazir said,“My character is called Natasha, who hosts a show. The film is premised on the particular chaotic life of TV anchors. It shows how they get involved in the rat race for ratings,”
Well, it appears that it’s just not the public that is distress with morning shows. Jeewan Haathi is ready to reveal the cacophonous reality and the topsy-turvy universe of Television in Pakistan. Is it just another comedy? Or the movie wants the audience to know what the morning shows hold? This question remains unanswered as the official trailer has already become a big thing and the people are anxiously waiting for this next big hit.

The team behind biggest ever hit of Pakistani film industry Jawani Phir Nahi Ani is teaming up for another mega project Punjab Nahi Jaungi staring Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat. The film is another joint venture between ARY Films and Humayun Saeed’s production house Six Sigma Films and directed by JPNA director Nadeem Baig, who is riding high on the success of this year’s hit TV serial Dil Lagi.
The lead cast of Punjab Nahi Jaungi was recently confirmed when Iman Ali, the first choice for the film, opted out of the project due to ‘personal reasons’ and was replaced by Mehwish Hayat, who is on the roll after the phenomenal success of TV serial Dil Lagi with Humayun Saeed and Eid release Actor in Law with Fahad Mustafa.

The shoot for the film recently begins in Karachi, as the behind the scene photos were shared by the makers of the film through an official press release. It is also revealed that the funny-man Ahmad Ali Butt is also playing a prominent supporting character in the film.

Punjab Nahi Jaungi is penned by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, the name behind many successful TV serials including Pyaray Afzal (ARY Digital) and Sadqay Tumharay (HUM TV). Qamar returns as the script writer more than a decade after writing the script of Reema Khan’s first production Koi Tujh Sa Kahan (2004).
The film is expected to hit the cinemas in 2017.
The directorial debut of acclaimed TV/theater director Haissam Hussain ‘Balu Mahi’, starring Osman Khalid Butt, Ainy Jaffry and Sadaf Kanwal, is one of the highly awaited movies of the next year and it just got the release date. The romance-drama will be released on the weekend before Valentine’s Day (10 Feb, 2017) as announced in the official press release.
‘Balu Mahi’ is the electrifying, oft hilarious and visually stunning travel film attempts to portray Lahore and the North on a larger-than-life canvas, and celebrate romance in an utterly unique manner.
TV’s heartthrob Osman Khalid Butt and super model Sadaf Kanwal are debuting at the silver screen with ‘Balu Mahi’. Ainy Jaffry’s was earlier seen in the Humayun Saeed’s production ‘Main Shahid Afridi Hoon’ (2013).

Balu Mahi is co-produced by Sadia Jabbar and Muhammad Ashraf Chaudry. Mian Yousaf Salahuddin is the executive producer of the film.
HKC Entertainment Chairman Hammad Chaudhry, owner of Cinestar in Pakistan, will distribute the film in Pakistan while Grand Showbiz Media is the International Distributor of the film who has been distributing the blockbuster Pakistani film ‘Actor in Law’.
Sahir Ali Bagga has composed five songs for the film, written by Saad Azhar. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will also give a special appearance in one of the songs of the film. The talented choreographer Wahab Shah has choreographed two songs of the film.

Haissam Hussain is the name behind many popular TV serials, like Dastaan, Dur-e-Shehwar, Aunn Zara, Aik Nayee Cinderella, Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan, Akbari Asghari and Ishq Ghumshuda. He has worked with both the established names of TV like Fawad Khan, Sanam Baloch and Imran Abbas and also the rising stars like Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali.
We cannot vouch for the authenticity of these box office numbers given by independent box office tracking site Box Office Detail. This Eid-ul-Azha was rather filmy as we had not one or two but three big budget local films hitting cinemas and fighting for the viewers attention. Among them, the Fahad Mustafa- Mehwish Hayat starer ‘Actor In Law (AIL)’, the Feroze Khan- Sajal Aly starrer ‘Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hay (ZKHH)’ and lastly the Armeena Khan-Bilal Ashraf-Ali Rehman starrer ‘Janaan’.
In an environment where the film industry is still very much in its infancy, a commercial success like ‘Wrong No.‘ can definitely boost your confidence in the setup a lot, and so Yasir Nawaz makes a return to the film scene in just about a year from his last release.
Reports are suggesting that Yasir is not only all geared up for his second big screen project, but a lot has already been finalised and the things will receive an official announcement in about a week’s time.
The video of the dance number ‘Kalabaaz Dil’ featuring sizzling Saba Qamar, from the film Lahore Se Aagey, is out and it makes us fall in love with the ethereal beauty of the diva and her latkas and jhatkas. The song also features the leading man of the movie Yasir Hussain and the Atiqa Odho who is giving a special appearance in the movie.
Saba Qamar, wearing Nomin Ansari’s ghagra choli, is looking drop-dead gorgeous in ‘Kalabaaz Dil’. She has pulled off spectacular dance performance in the video, looking traditional and sexy at the same time. Her on-screen chemistry with Yasir Hussain is also adorable and makes them a perfect couple.
Wahab Shah has done a great job as the choreographer of the song. The colors and vibrancy of the video makes it very filmi and catchy. Although, it seems inspired from Bollywood and reminds of the item number ‘Ghagara’ by Madhuri Dixit in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, but it still looks refreshing and aesthetic.

Saba Qamar, who played the supporting role of Madam Noor Jahan in Manto, is all set to debut as the leading lady opposite Yasir Hussain in Lahore Se Aagey, the sequel of road movie Karachi Se Lahore (2015). Qamar is playing a rockstar in the movie.
The film also stars Behroz Sabzwari, Rubina Ashraf, Abdullah Farhatullah, Noor ul Hasan, Mubashir Malik and Omer Sultan. It will hit the cinemas on November 11.
