Wrong Number ( Review): This masala entertainer dials all the right digits and makes a strong connection with the viewers.

Movie Name: Wrong Number

Release Date: July 18 , 2015

Director: Yasir Nawaz

Review by: Momin Ali Munshi

The film opens with the ever green song “Gaari Ko Chalana Babu…”  playing while the screen is all black. Then the song ends and another song plays, and yet another and so on. Basically the audience is treated to some five six songs, all carefully chosen to create a filmy aura and to remind the audiences of  Pakistani Film Industry’s golden era. After this homage to “Lollywood” is paid the mood set is surely of celebration and there could not have been a more befitting start to a film which in someway is a tribute to the golden era itself.

(Review): Bin Roye; a film where romance leads and emotions follow. A classic ‘Hum’ legacy continual

Movie Name: Bin Roye

Release Date: July 18, 2015 (Eid-ul-Fitr)

Director: Shahzad Kashmiri & Momina Duraid

Review by: Aayan Mirza

HUM is perhaps the only entertainment channel in Pakistan that has over the years built for itself a repute of being good at something in particular. No other channel can play it as at home as HUM does with the genre of ‘Romance.’ They have almost mastered it.

While Bajrangi Bhaijaan is all set to release in Pakistan; Bin Roye gets banned in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

‘Bin Roye’ was all set to create history and be the first  Pakistani film to simultaneously release in India as well as in a dozen other countries. Although this international release in itself was a huge accomplishment but the Indian release was definitely the most talked about region where ‘Bin Roye’ would spread its love. However things have taken a wrong turn as news has it that the Indian state of Maharashtra has banned the film and the film will not be releasing in the state.

Its interesting that Bollywood films have been releasing in Pakistan for years now and even   ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ is releasing in Pakistan this friday but a Pakistani film gets banned in an Indian state and that too for just being Pakistani!

Well it is safe to say that the Indian dreams for ‘Bin Roye’ are surely crushed as the film is not releasing in the second-most populous sub national entity of India which includes the Bollywood headquarter Mumbai.

As India today writes “This decision was taken by B4U Films following threats by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The film wing of the MNS had threatened to vandalize the theatres if B4U decided to screen the movie in the state.”The reason given by the MNS was that ” Pakistan has been sponsoring terror attacks on the country particularly in Maharashtra. MNS also pointed out that the Jawans were being killed on the border.”

The film was scheduled to release on July 18 but since B4U has given in to the threats the film will not be screened in Maharashtra. Although the fate of the film for other states is yet to be determined but it would not be wrong to assume that the film might just not release in India at all.

Nadeem H Mandviwalla of Mandviwalla Entertainment took it to facebook to reveal his stance on the issue:

“I feel that the process which we have fought for allowing Indian Films in Pakistan legitimately is now being jeopardised by Indian States themselves. The repercussions of such acts can become detrimental for both film Industries. It’s a sad day today as Maharashtra State has given reason to start the debate once again which lasted for more than 40 years. (1965 to 2006).”

Moreover he also added that the film will release in all the other states of India despite the fact that the Maharashtra region has banned the film just because its Pakistani. What really happens only time will tell. You stay tuned to Galaxy Lollywod for all the updates

Why releasing Bin Roye in India might just turn out to be a HUGE mistake for the team.

‘Bin Roye’ is releasing in India as well as in the UK, US, Canada, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Sweden and Denmark. Now is this surely a feat worth celebrating as this will not only open the gates for more such trade but will finally give Pakistan a much needed boost regarding its presence in the International arena. New markets will open up and the box-office numbers will also improve. We at Galaxy Lolywood applaud Momina Duraid and team for this accomplishment  however there is one huge drawback and the gravity of the matter will only unfold when the film hits cinemas.

Piracy or rather the lack of it is something that the Pakistani film Industry can boast of. Films have released in cinemas but its only once they make it to the television screens ( via a television premiere) that the piracy kicks in. Other than that piracy is an alien word for this new wave of cinema. Even the films that somehow have pirated versions out before the tv release are of a very inferior quality and come out months after the film releases ( case in point Na Maloom Afraad).

However the case in India is completely different. In India a film hits cinemas in the morning as they have shows as early as 9am and by the time the clock strikes 6 (or sometimes even earlier) the film is available online for viewing. As for the quality well it ranges from okay to master like at times. It is believed that specific cinema owners conduct special shows where the piracy takes place. Although an exact number cannot be placed on the amount lost to piracy but it would not be wrong to say that the number is huge.

A few years back when Bol released in Pakisatni cinemas it was apreciated and people went to the cinemas to go see it. People who wanted pirated versions had no other option but to go see it in cinemas. Two months later the film “Bol” was released in India and voila the very next day the film was out as the piracy had hit this mega-hit. Furthermore  the quality of the film was next to the master.

After ‘Bol’ however as we have had no India release this piracy business has stopped. But now with ‘Bin Roye’ releasing simultaneously in India as well as in many other countries the piracy seems inevitable. And for a country like Pakistan where articles with titles such as “Bin Roye full movie online” and search terms like ‘Bin Roye full film torrent’ are topping the search engines it is not hard to imagine what will happen once someone in India uploads the film.

We sincerely hope that the makers take strict actions and set in place all the precautionary meausres so a piracy debacle can be avoided or else it will be hard for the team to go on without Bin Roye…

(Poll): Which film will you checkout first this Eid-ul-Fitr.

Every other website seems to be conducting a poll and putting up “Bin Roye” vs “Wrong Number” as the title. We, however think that it would be a bit simplistic to just pit these two films against each other as we have three other major films releasing this Eid. We had planned this poll for quite some time now but we were waiting to see whether Bajrangi Bhaijaan would be coming to Pakistan. But with the censor certificate in its hand we think its high time we have our poll.

The poll asks you one simple question:-

Its Eid Day, you have some free time on your hands, which film would you want to go checkout first . In reality however the preferences might not play out  due to many factors like ticket unavailability, showtimes and all but assuming there is no such hurdle which film’s ticket would you first buy?

Vote for your favorites now and we will close the poll and announce the results on Chaand Raat.

Danish Taimoor & Ayeza Khan welcome a baby girl

Danish Taimoor is definitely one happy celebrity this Eid. It was his upcoming film, Wrong number releasing this Eid-ul-Fitr at first, but he now gets to have a double treat, triple if we include the occasion of Eid itself.

The television-turned-film star and his equally amazing actor wife, Ayeza Khan, have been both blessed with a baby girl.

Bin Roye had its glamorous Premiere in Karachi.

Eid is almost upon us and that means the two Pakistani films  “Bin Roye” and “Wrong Number” are that much closer to finally making it to cinemas. The excitement around the two films is building up and the buzz is gaining momentum as days pass. Whereas the films release on Eid there were special premieres held today for the media.Wrong Number had its premiere in Lahore whereas Bin Roye had its premiere in Karachi.

The premiere was a grand affair as the who’s who of Karachi was there  dressed to the nines. The PR was done by HUM itself. The review of the film will be up shortly. Till then enjoy the photos from the event.

Wrong Number had its star studded premiere in Lahore.

The event took place in Lahore’s Cinestar Cinema and was managed by Bilal Mukhtar who as always did a commendable job with the entire set up. Moreover Walnut Media( the digital PR partner) and Syntax PR also invited guests and made sure that the event was  a star studded affair. The entire cast flew in from Karachi and made the event a memorable affair. Furthermore lots of Lahori celebrities and socialites attended the event to show their support for the film.

We will soon be uploading our review of the film but for the time being enjoy the photos.

Theatrical trailer of Dekh Magar Pyaar Say is out with a bang

It seems like Pakistani filmmakers have made their mind to not stop teasing you by sharing something new and fresh almost every week. Last week the first teaser of Dekh Magar Pyaar Say was released but later the makers of the film announced the release of the theatrical trailer on Sunday night.

And here it comes, the trailer of the most awaited rom-com of this year, Dekh Magar Pyaar Say, is out with a bang.

Dekh Magar Pyaar Say stars Humaima Malik and Sikander Rizvi, grandson of late Madam Noor Jehan, who is debuting in this film. The film also stars veteran actors like Irfan Khoosat and Meera. The trailer does not reveal anything about the cameo performed by Meera, but, perhaps, it gives the sneak peek of the supermodel-cum-actress Amna Ilyas’s sultry item number which will surely make you skip a couple of your heartbeats.

Although the trailer is not very good in revealing much about the storyline except that Ainee (Humaima Malik) is a runaway bride and 25 years old Sikandar (Sikander Rizvi) is there to help out the lady in distress and Ainee can make Sikander do anything for her. But, the duo is looking, undoubtedly, extremely adorable and hot together and like a perfect couple for a romantic comedy film. It would be interesting to watch how do they meet and fall in love in the film.

Dekh Magar Pyaar Say is directed by ace ad maker Asad ul Haq and written by the author Saba Imtiaz. The film will be released on August 14 in a close competition with films as big as Moor and Shah.

Watch the trailer of Dekh Magar Pyaar Say below and share your feedback with us. Could it impress you?
