by Momin Ali Munshi

It is surely an interesting time for Pakistani Cinema as not only are there dozens of film in the pipeline, but most films that are coming out are setting new benchmarks and are proving to be milestones for Pakistani Cinema. While last year saw “Na Maloom Afraad” leading the box-office and giving everyone a reason to celebrate this year it is “3 Bahadur” which has emerged as the highest grossing animated film ever in Pakistan (previously the record was held by “Rio 2”). Although Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy , the director of the film, had proved her mettle in film-making with her earlier successes but there were doubts whether the animated film would click with the audiences. However 3 Bahadur, Pakistan’s first animated full-length super hero film, proved that Pakistan is ready for animated features as the business has been phenomenal while people cannot stop raving about the quality of the  film. Moreover it is worth mentioning that India has had about six animated films and none of them has managed to create an impact like our own “3 Bahadur” has.

However to everyone’s surprise two days back a post made on the official page of the film claimed that the film would be releasing next friday i.e 12 June 2015. This teaser  became the talk of the town and generated much curiosity among the people who did not know whether “Moor” was a film, a music video or a drama. However this little clip had the viewers hooked to their seats while they were deeply emerged in the artistic picture that Jami had painted. Each shot seemed right out of a magic land and people were having a hard timing believing that it was Pakistan and not some foreign land where the shooting had taken place. “3 Bahadur” shows its strength and registers strong numbers at the box office.

by Momin Ali Munshi

22nd May 2015 was surely a historic day for Pakistan and specially for Pakistani Cinema as the country’s first animated feature film “3 Bahadur” was released in cinemas.  It was a day worth celebrating as a milestone had been achieved by us Pakistani’s and had given us something to be proud of. Furthermore what made the day even bigger was the fact that  Pakistan was finally, after a six year long hiatus,  hosting a cricket tournament in its home ground so the mood  in the country was obviously of celebration. However it is a known fact that whenever there has been cricket activity, the box office for a film has suffered, and “3 Bahadur” was no exception.
