Guess What? “Dekh Magar Pyar Say” completes its shooting in a record 45 days.

by Momin Ali Munshi

Looks like Asad ul Haq is a man of his word. Just a few months back in April he announced that he would soon start the shooting of his directorial debut “Dekh Magar Pyar Say” and release it in August. And guess what? The man has actually done it! Yes he has completed the shooting of his film in just 45 days which is surely a feat worth celebrating.

You know when he first announced these in plans in April, the industry insiders thought of him as “too ambitious” and “a bit idealistic” and could not help but laugh it off as something that would not materialize.  And honestly would you blame the trade people? We live in a country where films have taken years to make and even the ones that are relatively better timed have almost always been delayed by months at least. So for Asad to start the film in April and end it in June with a total 45  days is nothing but an achievement.

Maya (Review) : This honest effort surely deserves a watch and is a first step in the right direction.

Movie Name: Maya

Release Date: June 12, 2015

Director: Jawad Bashir

Review by: Momin Ali Munshi

Although this is not the first time that we are seeing a Pakistani horror film, but the genre has so rarely been employed by Pakistani film-makers that every film that comes about seems like a first. In the last decade we have had two films which broadly fall in this horror  genre. The first being the 2007 slasher film “Zibahkhana” which could not make it to cinemas and had a direct to video release and then the 2013 release “Siyaah” which saw a limited release. Now following these two films is Jawad Bashir’s directorial debut “Maya” which releases in cinemas all over Pakistan today.Having seen the film I can safely assure you that you will not be disappointed by this film. Although it is far from perfect and has its shares of mistakes but it is a first strong step in the right direction and surely deserves a watch.
