Mahira Khan is a name that you can only love. You might not be a big fan of Humsafar, but there is so much more to her that it instantly makes you fall in love with the lady. When she did her first film, Bol, she was just a pretty VJ for selected few of us, today, she stands as a household name in Pakistan, among some of the very few faces widely recognied, cherished and praised in the showbiz world.

We love her, so we follow her, keep a tab on most of her activities, new TV serials, brand endorsements, film offers, film offers from India, and a lot more. Here is what the lady is up to these days.

Investigating the ‘O21 booed off’ story: The Picture could have been a little different

Pakistan Film Industry maybe progressing fast, but every new local film that you see in cinema is someone’s passion driven project at the end of the day. Honestly, the business sense for films in Pakistan still does not exist. The business sense to a great extent currently depends on either a combo of Shaan and action films, or a virality of a crazy trailer that stirs things so greatly on the social media for the actual film, that it creates it a base. Waar had all these factors to it, and well…you know how big of a success it was. So that’s the formula. There is no other business sense that can promise you the recovery of your investment if your film doesn’t make a mark on its opening day.

(Breaking News)Humayun Saeed plays the lead in a film based on Malik Riaz’s life; The first look video is out!

by Momin Ali Munshi

We are sure that nobody saw this coming!
A  movie on the Pakistani business magnate Malik Riaz who is the proud founder and owner of Bahria Town. Not that his life lacks content which could be used for a film, rather his life has all the twists/ turns and masala which makes for a good biographical film. What has almost all the film trade shocked is that how before this first look promo there was not a single word heard of this film. It just came out of nowhere!

The Khan of Pakistan: Fawad Khan continues journey of meteoric stardom back at home

Pakistan’s entertainment industry got its first The Khan, of modern times, in the form of nation’s heartthrob Fawad Afzal Khan: the handsome Ashar of Humsafar, the charismatic Zaroon of Zindagi Gulzar Hai and the charming Prince Vikram of Khoobsurat.

Fawad set off on a journey of unstoppable success and fame in Pakistan with the release of record smashing serial Humsafar back in 2011. He got recognition in India with the release of his cult TV show Zindagi Gulzar Hai there earlier this year and his first Bollywood film Khoobsurat landed him the unprecedented stardom any Pakistani star ever got across the border over such a short span of time.

Operation-021 or Na Maloom Afraad which film should you go see on this Bakra Eid?

by Momin Ali Munshi

Hello my fellow Lollywood-ers, Eid is upon us and that can mean only one thing ( well other than the fact that there are going to be lots of Bakra’s everywhere) that Lollywood is going to churn out more films today than rest of the year combined. Yes, that is the power of the Eid box-office my mates. However we shall not be focusing on the many B/C grade films releasing today, rather will be talking about the clash of our two mega titans  “Na Maloom Afraad” and “Operation-021.” The million dollar question which almost everyone has on their mind is that which of the two films they should go check out ? Operation-021 or Na Maloom Afraad?

Well don’t fear, for your savior Momin Ali is here.

I had the privilege of seeing both the films at the private screenings (Thank You Team 021 and Team NMA ) and hence having seen both the films gives me unimaginable power and makes me the last hope for mankind *evil laugh*

However I have decided that I will give you my extremely valuable opinion, which you all can listen to or ignore as well if you wish but its better if you listen to it. So without further drama, grab your mutton kebabs , pour in some Coke and find out which film should you spend your hard earned Bakra-Eidi on.

Gidh: The teaser is out and the excitement is already building up…

A still from the teaser trailer of Gidh featuring Shamoon Abbasi.

by Momin Ali Munshi

While Lollywood was celebrating the release of two films “Na Maloom Afraad” and “Operation-021” Shamoon Abbasi had something else on his mind. Dont get the wrong idea you all, he was busy getting the teaser of his directorial debut ready so that it could be released online on the festive day. The teaser which is basically just a teeny tiny introduction to the film has all the elements to generate curiosity. Also one gets to see Shaan Shahid and Shamoon Abbasi together, in new avatars and that is just magical.

Na Maloom Afraad (Review): It is a clear winner and a complete entertainment package for you to savour.

Movie Name: Na Maloom Afraad

Release Date: 6 October 2014

They came, they conquered.

Yes, we are talking about the Na Maloom Afraad who all are set to rock in a film we have been waiting for ages to come out. Why? Well obviously since it is the latest offering from the new-age cinema of Pakistan and also the first offering which can rightfully be called a proper film. Moreover now having seen the film we can claim that all the expectations we had are met and the film, despite being the  debut film of the director Nabeel Qureshi, is by far one of the strongest films we have seen in recent times. Kudos to Nabeel Qureshi for making a film which has drama, comedy, romance, thrill and gives Pakistan its much needed entertainment.

O21 (Review): It is the farthest Pakistani Cinema has gone in ‘Brains’

Movie Name: Operation 021

Release Date: 6 October 2014

Director: Jami Mahmood and Summer Nicks

Review by: Aayan Mirza

The O21 gang; from the very first day, from the very first brush of the film with the media and headlines, has propagated it to be an intelligent film, a ‘brainer’, perhaps the Syriana of Pakistan film industry, and well, that is exactly what I was served with.
