This isn’t just a story of a celebrity couple parting ways, but a saga that has raised questions about the personal lives of those in the entertainment industry.

Start of September 2022 – the Feroze Khan Court Case Begins

The Pakistani entertainment industry was rocked when news broke that the popular actor and model, filed for divorce from wife Aliza Sultan in September of last year.

Ever since then, the headlines have been buzzing with updates on this high-profile legal battle. If you’re not up to speed on what’s been happening, fear not – we’ve got you covered.

October 2022 – Aliza Releases Pictures of her Bruises

In September of last year, Feroze Khan and his wife, Aliza, filed for divorce, which made headlines in the Pakistani entertainment industry. However, things took a dramatic turn in October, when Aliza released images of herself with bruises, alleging that Feroze had subjected her to domestic abuse, infidelity, and blackmail. The pictures went viral, as Feroze vehemently denied the charges stating that he will take legal action against the “baseless allegations” levelled against him.

November and December 2022 – Industry Unites

When Aliza’s allegations of domestic abuse and blackmail against Feroze Khan surfaced, the Pakistani entertainment industry was rocked to its core.

Stars from the film industry took a united stand in support of Aliza, with many distancing themselves from Feroze.

The uproar was so intense that actors like Iqra Aziz refused to share screen space with him. This show of solidarity sent a powerful message, demonstrating that the industry is willing to stand up for the rights of women and speak out against any form of abuse.

January 2023 – Feroze Serves Defamation Notices

The legal battle between Feroze Khan and his estranged wife, Aliza, took a bizarre turn when Feroze served a defamation notice to several high-profile celebrities on January 18th of this year.

Feroze accused these celebrities of spreading “false propaganda” about him, but things quickly took a controversial turn when Feroze released their private addresses and phone numbers in his complaint.

This move caused an uproar in the entertainment industry, with many stars speaking out against what they saw as a violation of their privacy. Actors including Osman Khalid Butt, Aiman Khan, Sarwat Gillani, and director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy were all part of the list.

Among those whose information was exposed was actor Muneeb Butt, who quickly took action. Muneeb vowed to give Feroze a taste of his own medicine, and turned to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for help.

Feroze responded by filing a complaint with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against Muneeb. Feroze’s lawyer alleged that Muneeb’s actions were in violation of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) section 24 of 2016.

This unexpected turn of events has taken the legal battle to new heights, with both sides fighting tooth and nail to protect their interests.

The situation has sent shockwaves through the Pakistani entertainment industry, and many are watching with bated breath to see what will happen next. As the drama unfolds, it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in this high-stakes legal saga.

Money Back Guarantee Turns Head and Introduces New Avatars with Trailer

Money Back Guarantee Poster

The trailer for Faisal Qureshi’s comedy of errors, Money Back Guarantee, is finally out. The film has been in the making for quite some time now and stars Fawad Khan, Hina Dilpazir, Ali Safina, Wasim Akram, Shayan Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Gohar Rasheed, and Jan Rambo – a cast you can put your bets on.

The trailer for MBG brings forth some vivid frames from the hit Spanish crime series, Money Heist. The guns, the masks, the black ensemble, everything is just too cliched to believe this won’t be another dramatization when the film comes out.

The fast-paced nature of the movie, alongside Fawad Khan’s quirkiness have added excitement to the wait. Fawad Khan comes in a completely new avatar. We see an unexplored side to him, and can’t wait to see more of that whimsical grin at the end.

The Old Yet Interesting Plot Grasp

The plot for Money Back Guarantee seems interesting with its action, comedy and thrill. The 3-minute trailer is exciting and fast paced and manages to grab attention in all the right spots. The comic punches are timely cut for the trailer, with the humour and action on spot.

However, one wonders if the full-length film will be able to encaptivate the audience with the same panache as the trailer.

The Ensemble Cast

Money Back Guarantee brings Fawad Khan back to the Silver Screen, while handing debuts to Wasim Akram and Shaniera Akram. Fawad Khan’s presence will certainly act as a lure for his massive fan following but the good thing is that the rest of the cast including the likes of Mikaal Zulfiqar, Javed Sheikh, Jan Rambo, Gohar Rasheed, Hina Dilpazir, Shayan Khan, Mani, Kiran Malik and Ali Safina will all be contributing their individual flare of entertainment to this highly anticipated film.

The trailer gives screen time to all of its promising cast members, keeping viewers glued with action sequences and exciting hooks.

The Verdict on Money Back Guarantee

From the dialogues to the situations and execution of the scenes, Money Back Guarantee seems like an interesting watch offering good quality entertainment.

Money Back Guarantee will be a breath of fresh air offering a unique story line of a heist set against a local backdrop. Let’s see what the 21st of April 2023 offers when Money Back Guarantee releases in Cinemas around you this Eid.

Stepping into the Glamorous World of Indo-Pak Couples

Indo-Pak Couples

Ah, Celebrity Couples! We can’t have enough of them, can we? Tabloids are always bustling with celebrity scandals and updates on their dating lives.

One such topic that generates headlines, particularly in Pakistan, is when a celebrity gets involved with someone on the other side of the border. Dating an Indian actor as a Pakistani celebrity is quite the scandal. The two countries are constantly at odds with each other, and these political tensions end up bleeding into entertainment news as well.

Below is a list of Indo-Pak couples that got together and caused quite a stir.

Naseem Shah and Urvashi Rautela

The Bollywood actress turned heads when she wished the Pakistani pacer Happy Birthday under an Instagram post. To which Naseem responded with gratitude.

It is important to note that Urvashi has a history of sharing video edits of Naseem on Instagram. The ex-pageant winner claims they were “fan-made cute edits” posted by her team. This was right after she was seen in attendance at the Asia Cup 2022.

Naseem Shah in the past said that he was unaware of her but now it seems to have changed with the Birthday wish. Urvashi also follows Naseem on Instagram so the two are certainly on each other’s radars and seem to be on good terms.

Naseem has, however, refused to comment on the situation many times, and news of any communication between the two celebrities is based more on fan assumptions than actual facts. Why wouldn’t fans want another popular Indian bhabhi anyway?

Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza

It’s hard to miss Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza when talking of famous Indo-Pak couples. This cross-border love affair started over a decade ago in 2010. Shoaib was serving a year-long cricket ban by Pakistan’s Cricket Board meanwhile Sania was struggling with injuries and relation issues of her own.

The couple was subjected to a lot of trolling and criticism online from both sides. But none of that got in the way since they got married shortly after and have been together ever since. They are still probably the most high-profile cross-border couple.

Reena Roy and Mohsin Khan

We can see a pattern emerging with sports being at the center of it. Pakistani cricket legend Mohsin Khan married Bollywood actress Reena Roy in 1983. The actress had decided to quit Bollywood after marrying Mohsin.

The marriage, however, did not last very long. The couple had a daughter together, for which Reena got custody.

Farhan Saeed and Amrita Rao

The two met in 2008 when Saeed’s band Jal visited India for a Wall’s ad starring Rao. Both instantly became close and were often spotted together at public events. The love affair didn’t last long though with the couple splitting up shortly after.

Both have now been happily married for years to their respective partners.

Iman Ali and Imtiaz Ali

Pakistani superstar Iman Ali was seen with famous Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali which set social media ablaze. The Khuda Kay Liye star and Jab We Met director sparked relationship rumors when the photograph hit social media.

No further confirmation was ever given from either side however, and the photo is all we got to see of these two. The couple seemed to have broken up long since.

Wasim Akram and Sushmita Sen

The two got together after the tragic passing of Wasim’s first wife, Huma Akram. The Swing King and Miss Universe were the talk of town for quite some time. The couple eventually ended the relationship with a mutual break up. Wasim is of course now happily married to Shaniera Akram.

These are just a few examples of Indo-Pak couples that turned heads and generated conversations. Which one is your favourite and are you rooting for Naseem Shah and Urvashi Rautela?

Punjabi Films Bridge Divide Between India and Pakistan to Create Quality Cinema

Indo Pak Collaborations
Indo Pak Collaborations

In recent years, we have seen a growing trend of Pakistani and Indian artists collaborating for Punjabi films. This collaboration has brought together some of the most talented artists from both countries and has resulted in some truly spectacular films.

Punjabi Cultural Heritage:

One of the main reasons for this collaboration is the shared cultural heritage between Pakistan and India. Punjabi culture, in particular, is deeply ingrained in both countries, and this common ground has brought artists from both sides of the border together.

These collaborations have also brought about a greater understanding and appreciation of the local diaspora and culture. By working together, Pakistani, and Indian artists are able to learn from each other and bring their unique perspectives to the table. This not only helps to create better films, but also promotes cross-cultural understanding and dialogue.

Popular Punjabi Films:

‘Babe Bhangra Paunde Ne’ was a commercial hit due to its content and production value. The grand Indian Punjabi film starred Sohail Ahmed from Pakistan alongside Indian artists Diljit Dosanjh and Sargun Mehta.

Recently we got to hear that actor Imran Abbas will be seen in an upcoming Indian Punjabi film titled ‘Jee Ve Sohneya Jee’. The film will be shot in Europe and the heartthrob and his fans in both countries are very excited for this collaboration. Not only this, upcoming Pakistani film ‘Super Punjabi’ has its music produced by popular Indian musician Dr. Zeus.

The Constant Political Crisis – How Much Can It Impact the Art & The Artist:

It’s worth noting that there have been some challenges and controversies around collaborations between Indian and Pakistani artists. Political tensions between the two countries have at times spilled over into the film industry, and there have been calls to boycott films that feature Pakistani artists.

Despite these challenges, the collaboration between Pakistani and Indian artists for Punjabi films continues to grow. It shows that art has the power to transcend borders and bring people together, and we can work towards a more peaceful and harmonious future through cultural exchange and collaboration.

The collaboration between Indian and Pakistani artists over Punjabi films has been a positive development for both the Punjabi film industry and the broader cultural relationship between the two countries.

From Pakistan’s pure admiration towards the late singer Sidhu Moose Wala, and popular Punjabi artists including Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa to India’s admiration for the comic genius of Iftikhar Thakur and Nasir Chinyoti, the world of Punjabi films has seen both countries come together.

These collaborations have not only created high-quality films, but also helped to foster greater understanding and cooperation between India and Pakistan. As such, it is an example of how art can be a powerful force of change.

‘Oh, Zaaalimaa!’ Fans Wail After Mahira Khan Launches M by Mahira

M by Mahira
M by Mahira prices

No one can dispute the position Mahira Khan enjoys in the industry. Adored by millions of fans as well as her industry peers, everything Mahira Khan does instantly make headlines. Especially when it comes to her style, be it dressing up for red carpet events and international appearances or opting for casually comfortable clothes for a normal day out, Mahira Khan’s sense of style is admired and praised by all.

So, when Mahira Khan announced she was launching her very own clothing line, the excitement around it was real. The clothing line inspired completely by Mahira’s personal style meant the fans could now own a piece of their favourite star’s wardrobe to show their love and loyalty towards the Humsafar star.

M by Mahira

The clothing line was announced to be called M By Mahira, a befitting name as it was fully promoted using Mahira’s own trademark casual style. The first collection launched online was titled Razia, after Mahira’s maternal grandmother, someone whom Mahira was very close with all her life.

Everything about M by Mahira’s branding was quintennial Mahira Khan – the emphasis on conscious choices, casual style, and a firm attachment to one’s close familial relationships.

The cherry on top was the news that Razia was going to be an all-white collection. White is, as anyone who follows Mahira Khan, a staple of her own wardrobe. In her own words, “If I had to wear one thing for the rest of my life, I would select a white kurta shalwar.

On 12th February 2023, the website went live. And suddenly, the entire mood changed.

Overpriced

Boasting of a whopping total of five designs which include one separate dupatta and one separate shalwar, calling it overpriced is putting it very gently. The cheapest kurta costs 12,800 PKR. The single shalwar-kurta set costs 24,950 PKR.

The complete collection costs a total of 61,050 PKR if anyone dares to, sorry, chooses to buy it. If the number makes your head spin, then don’t worry; you aren’t the only one.

The social media backlash towards the collection’s prices was instant. While some people called out Mahira Khan for being so out of touch with the country’s current economic crisis, others pointed out that similar to better-designed white clothes can be easily designed by one’s own self or by the local darzis in less than a quarter of the prices that Mahira is selling her clothes at.

Hints of Hypocrisy?

Mahira Khan’s fans are hurt by the prices of the clothes, obviously. But before anyone criticises the fans for being disappointed, one must try to understand that the hurt isn’t just because of the price tags. It’s because Mahira Khan has, for her entire career, presented herself as this humble, grounded “regular person.”

When someone who always emphasizes on being “regular” goes ahead and launches a clothing line that is completely out of budget for at least 90% of the country’s population, the validity of that person being “regular” also comes under question.

If Mahira Khan really is an aam awaam like she has repeatedly ensured fans she is either directly or indirectly, why in the world is she selling a ‘safaid shalwar kurta suit woh bhi bina dupattay’ for almost 25,000 rupees?

Just who is her target market anyway? Because judging by those zeroes, it definitely isn’t the strata of society that has been showering her with love and hype all these years.

Of course, Mahira Khan is well within her rights to sell her name at whatever price she finds worthy. However, the least she can do in that case is to show some regard for her loyal fans by not blatantly marketing it as having “little something for everyone.”

Because no, Zaalima, this isn’t for “everyone.” This is most definitely aimed at a select few people in society who can buy a 13,600 PKR mardana kurta and still be able to have a peaceful night’s sleep in today’s economy.

Sold Out!

At the time of writing this, 4/5th of the entire Razia collection is ‘sold out’ on the website. It could be a marketing tactic, or maybe there weren’t many pieces made for the collection to begin with hence the label; there’s no way of knowing. Nevertheless, the fans can be disappointed and criticize all they want; Mahira Khan has already giggled her way to the bank with Razia.

The irony of white being the color of kaffan isn’t missing us. ‘Cuz at the end of the day, dhoom se janaza toh fans ki khwahishon ka hi nikla hai.’

Huey Tum Ajnabi Strikes the Right Chords with Powerful Trailer

Huey tum ajnabi
Huey tum ajnabi cast

Pakistani entertainment industry has not run out of projects on the 1971 Fall of Dhaka. After Nabeel Qureshi’s movie Khel Khel Mein exploring the topic from a modern lens and Haissam Hussain’s TV directorial mini-series Jo Bichar Gaye depicting the events leading to the fall from a semi-fictitious POV, we have another big screen offering from Kamran Shahid. Titled Huey Tum Ajnabi, the movie is all slated to release on Eid ul Fitr 2023, with the trailer making rounds across social media currently.

Cast of Huey Tum Ajnabi

The film boasts of quite an impeccable cast. Leading the movie are Mikaal Zulfiqar and Sadia Khan. Alongside them the movie also has Shamoon Abbasi, Samina Peerzada, Mehmood Aslam, Sohail Ahmed, and Shafqat Cheema. Ayesha Omar makes a brief appearance in the trailer as well. Alyy Khan and Adnan Jelani are also credited in the movie’s cast.

First Glance of Huey Tum Ajnabi

The trailer promises a film filled to the brim with action and passionate romance. Mikaal Zulfiqar and Sadia Khan set the screen on fire with their romantic chemistry. On the other hand, the political tension and the war-type situation provide adrenaline pumping action.

The action-packed trailer shows a series of thrilling events, where bullets are fired, helicopters are blown up and buildings are destroyed. The trailer also shows glimpses of the plight of war prisoners and the atrocities they go through.

The trailer for Huey Tum Ajnabi is packed with all the ingredients that make it an out-and-out masala venture.

Kamran Shahid’s Thoughts on Huey Tum Ajnabi

At the trailer launch event writer-director Kamran Shahid commented that the film is more romantic than political and that it was a “challenge” for him to include romance in a story set against the events of 1971 Fall of Dhaka.

Kamran Shahid also said that not many people were ready to talk about the story, due to the controversial nature of the topic.

“The production of ‘Huey Tum Ajnabi’ depicts an enthralling love story of the past that went unheard and untold in the chaos of war. The movie dwells into the history of souls that were connected beyond borders. ‘Huey Tum Ajnabi’ will hopefully exceed viewer’s expectations by building a fresh and uncommon romantic narrative in war histories.”

Verdict So Far

Romance and action as a genre can easily strike a chord with the audience if done well. Judging from the trailer of the film, Huey Tum Ajnabi has not held back in trying to depict a passionate love story amidst a time of chaos and tragedy.

Special effects done in the action scenes are commendable. It will definitely be an engrossing experience for the viewers to witness the action on the big screen. The production value is nothing to write home about however, the frames appear decent enough.

Nevertheless, the costume and makeup department have not put in any effort to make the movie stand apart from a theater production. Nothing can be said about the music of the film either as the trailer did not have any song in it despite having shots from what appear to be song sequences. Despite these flaws, the movie could potentially be a worthwhile trip to the cinemas over the Eid holidays.

Huey Tum Ajnabi releases in cinemas of Eid ul Fitr 2023.

PSL Mania: Which PSL Team is Your Favourite Celebrity Supporting?

Starting from February 13, the PSL 2023 will feature some of the biggest names in cricket, battling it out for the ultimate prize of being crowned champions. From the iconic Lahore Qalandars to the thrilling Karachi Kings, every team is determined to outdo the others and write their name in the history books.

With international stars and local legends taking to the crease, the PSL Season 8 is set to be a cricketing extravaganza that fans simply can’t miss.

However, on the side, there are a few familiar faces cheering their teams as they chase glory. This season too, actors and musicians and our favorite stars will be seen donning their favorite colors when the players enter the ground.

Here’s a brief rundown of the PSL teams your favourite stars are supporting.

Quetta Gladiators

Actors Maya Ali and Bilal Ashraf have been long time fans of the franchise owned by Nadeem Omar. The celebrity duo have been accompanied by the likes Nauman Ijaz, Ushna Shah, and boxing champion Usman Wazeer. The team is yet to release a music video but the form of Iftikhar Ahmed and Naseem Shah is already ringing bells for opposition teams and their fans. With rather forgettable last three seasons, Quetta will need all the luck of Maya Ali and Bilal Ashraf to make it to the finish line.

Peshawar Zalmi

Arguably PSL’s biggest franchise and also the most popular post Babar Azam’s transfer, Peshawar Zalmi took brand ambassadors little too seriously by roping in a plethora of domestic and international stars to their team. Such was the fanfare, they forgot to get a proper fast bowler and were dependent on the mercurial Wahab Riaz to lead them through. The list consisted of heartthrobs Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Farhan Saeed and viral sensation Dananeer Mobeen. It was a treat watching these celebs support the yellow and black, and we can’t wait to see who Peshawar Zalmi have in store this year.

Lahore Qalandars

The Lahore Qalandars know that true star power comes from within. While they had Mehwish Hayat’s support in the initial seasons, they’ve since relied on their own cricketing heroes to do the heavy lifting. From music videos to on-field showmanship, the Qalandars have elevated their players to household names. Take Shaheen Shah Afridi, for example, whose electrifying performance is music to the ears of Qalandars fans everywhere.

No need for outside star power, the Lahore Qalandars have a lineup full of talented superstars ready to light up the PSL Season 8. With a focus on homegrown talent, the Qalandars are a team to watch, proving that true champion spirit comes from within.

Multan Sultans

The Multan Sultans don’t need star power from outside, they’ve got it all in-house! With a roster full of big-hitting superstars like Mohammad Rizwan, the Sultans are ready to make some noise on and off the field.

While they’ve hosted the likes of Neelum Muneer, Ahsan Khan, and Momal Sheikh as brand ambassadors in the past, the Sultans know that their true power lies in their players. With Rizwan leading the charge, the Sultans are a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the pitch.

Islamabad United

2-time champion and one of the most formidable franchise t20 teams in the world Islamabad United have relied on the star power of Fawad Khan to create all the noise. And when you have a star of his stature in your ranks, you don’t need anyone else to do your bidding. There are already billboards up around town with Fawad partnering alongside food panda – Islamabad United’s premier sponsor – and we cannot wait to see him in Rawalpindi.

Karachi Kings

Karachi’s franchise has attracted stars just like it attracts controversies. With all the pre-season noise reaching its peak, the calm and serene nature of Humayun Saeed and Fahad Mustafa – the premier team ambassadors – will lead to some respite for the team.

The duo will be accompanied by the likes of Adnan Siddiqui and the usual ARY suspects, last year we also saw a glimpse of Kinza Hashmi in the dugout, so who knows what surprise Karachi has in store for us. However, more than the celebs, Karachi will be making sure, they set the record straight after the horrendous campaign last year.

Violent ‘Mob Attack’ on the Set of Nabeel Qureshi’s Upcoming Project in Karachi Shocks Fraternity

Cast present during mob attack
Cast present during mob attack

Art has always been subject to hate throughout history. There are always certain extremist groups all across the globe that immediately resort to violence to take out their aggression at artists. The entertainment industry as a whole is no stranger to such vitriol.

Recently, the set for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic war drama ‘Padmaavat,’ was vandalized by religious extremists on multiple occasions. There has also been a rise in stand-up comedians being attacked recently at events due to rising political tension everywhere.

One such incident that sadly took place was in Karachi at the set of Nabeel Qureshi’s upcoming project.

What Happened

The ‘Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad’ director was filming a project with TV sensation Hira Mani on Monday when a mob attacked the cast and crew on their set in Karachi. The rest of the cast present included Mani, Gul-e-Rana as well as other child actors.

SeePrime released an official statement yesterday stating the following

This statement reveals that the production team received a noise complaint, which the cast and crew tried to comply with. However, despite their efforts, a mob of about a hundred people descended upon them. This group vandalized the set, damaged valuable equipment, and harassed the cast and crew.

Hira Mani told Arab News that armed men entered set in a “pre-planned” attack and beat up crew after director had a spat with neighbors

They were going to burn us, [they were] chanting ‘Allah O Akbar’.” Hira continued.

Arab News was also able to get their hands on a copy of the police report which states that up to 50 people, many of them carrying sticks, broke into the house while shooting was ongoing and beat up its owner who rents the property for film shoots. The attackers also beat up crew members and injured five, including one who was hit on the head with a pistol.

Demand For Justice

Nabeel Qureshi immediately took to Twitter after the incident to try and bring awareness to the issue.

He then went on to directly address Sindh Police and his fellow artists to immediately take action and to not let this issue die down.

Hira Mani also took to Instagram Stories to thank the crew who kept them safe while asking everyone to pray for their recovery.

Many celebrities came forward to show support including Mahira Khan and Osman Khalid Butt who took to Twitter to express outrage.

What Can Be Done?

The responsibility falls on film studios and production companies to provide better security for their cast and crew seeing that the area where this incident took place, Jamshed Quarters, has a history of such behavior.

Just last year the Yasir Hussain directed TV serial ‘Aik Thi Laila’ was put through a similar ordeal while filming at the same location. Filming, ideally, should not have even been taking place in a location that was known to not be safe especially when there were women and children involved.

Ahsan Khan also took to Instagram Stories to specifically mention the security risks in areas such as Jamshed Quarters.

The more things change the more they stay the same and, in this case unfortunately, they may be getting worse. This incident has the potential to set a very dangerous precedent for the future if our law enforcement agencies don’t take the required measures moving forward. Simply making arrests will certainly not be enough.

We at Galaxy Lollywood send all our prayers and warm wishes for all those who got injured and the ones still dealing with this traumatic experience.

The Success Story Behind Kaifi Khalil’s Kahani Suno

Kaifi Khalil collage
Kaifi Khalil

How do we define a great song? This is a question that all music lovers often ask; is it virality? Is it YouTube and Spotify hits? Are only songs that land a place in pop culture considered great? What makes a musical symphony a hit amongst the audience, and how does it resonate with listeners emotionally and personally? This success story behind Kaifi Khalil’s Kahani Suno gives us an insight into this dichotomy of fame.

Who is Kaifi Khalil?

Kaifi Khalil is not just any ordinary artist in the Pakistani music scene; he brings a rich cultural heritage that sets him apart from the rest. Born and raised in Lyari – a deeply underprivileged area ravaged by lawlessness and gang wars – Kaifi’s unique Balochi roots have greatly influenced his musical style giving him a novel perspective on music.

His songs not only showcase his musical prowess but also offer a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Baluchistan. In his interviews, he is very open about infusing traditional folk elements with contemporary music styles to create a truly unique sound.

Kana Yari and Purr Ka’n De Glass are two hit Balochi songs that can be heard across cafes and food outlets in Karachi and Islamabad. While Kana Yari is a Coke Studio original, the latter is a remake of a traditional Balochi folk song, performed in a contemporary style to reach wider audiences.

To an average listener, this unique approach may be a reason for the massive rise of Kaifi Khalil, but one listen to Kahani Suno is enough to reject this opinion.

The Success of Kahani Suno

While Kaifi has been vocal about his Balochi roots and its musical influence, Kahani Suno’s contrasting vibe makes it uniquely different from songs he’s recorded before. It is also his biggest hit and a chartbuster transcending boundaries to become one of the most viewed music videos from the region.

It is sporadic to find a musician willing to explore different genres! But to his credit, Kaifi has shown a willingness to become a truly global superstar with Kahani’s release.

Kahani Suno’s success is not in Kaifi Khalil’s willingness to stick to his roots; In fact, the song achieves success through its vulnerability, relatable lyrics, and the extreme likeability of the performer.

With simple Urdu couplets sung in the most melodious tune, Kaifi has cemented himself as a lyrical powerhouse. From the white collars working hard to make ends meet, to executives leading a life of privilege, Kahani Suno strikes a chord with people from all classes.

Adding Melody to Grief

Grief is a raw and powerful emotion often celebrated in our society with timeless Urdu couplets and ghazals. Music can capture and celebrate this powerful feeling in a way that speaks directly to the soul. Throughout history, songs have been written that celebrate the depths of human emotion, from heartbreak to hope and everything in between.

The love-lorn poets of the past, from Ghalib to Jon Elia, have captured the hearts of listeners with their vulnerable and honest expressions of love and loss. Their timeless words continue to resonate with audiences, reminding us of the depth and power of human emotion.

While there’s no comparison yet with the achievements of the poets mentioned above, in the modern era, we have Kaifi Khalil’s “Kahani Suno,” a song that celebrates grief in a way that brings back memories of the classic ballads. The song’s Attaullah Essakhelvi-esque lyrics and simple yet catchy tune resonate with millions around the world, reminding us of the timeless power of music to celebrate and commemorate the human experience.

In a world where grief is often ignored or dismissed, “Kahani Suno” is a refreshing reminder of the beauty and power of music to celebrate and embrace the raw and powerful emotions that make us human.

Sar-E-Rah Sets Tone for Brilliance With First Episode

Sar e Rah series
Sar e Rah cast

A large number of contemporary television viewers yearn to watch content that shows an honest portrayal of the never-ending societal dilemmas we face. Along with the storyline, audiences and critics also look for powerful performances from lead actors.

Pakistani Dramas, to be specific, usually have all these elements present in a measurable capacity. Our shows have successfully dealt with a lot of social issues in the last couple of decades in a captivating yet meaningful way. ARY Digital rolled out a novel drama serial titled ‘Sar e Rah’ written by Adeel Razzaq of ‘Pukaar’ and directed by ‘Qurbaan’ fame Ahmed Bhatti. The drama aired Saturday night and has already gathered a substantial fan following within a couple of days.

The First Impression:

It was evident through teasers and highlights that Sar-e-Rah would focus on women’s role in our society. Sar-e-Raah lived up to its hype and managed to encaptivate audiences right from the beginning.

The first episode of ‘Sar e Rah’On the Road featured Saba Qamar as Rania. The show takes a strong turn when Rania decides to walk in her father’s footsteps and become a Taxi Driver. Rania’s father is going through a serious health condition.

The Execution:

It was honestly refreshing to see Saba Qamar drive her dad’s taxi around the busy roads of Karachi. We could see Frere Hall and St. Patrick’s Church in some of the on-screen footage.

The first episode was relatively fast-paced and impactful. Rania’s encounter with passengers of all kinds, especially a druggy, made it a believable societal reflection on television.

The character arc of most characters is, however, slightly toned down, which is often delightful, but we do need more of each character.

The Performances:

Sar e Rah’s first episode was all about Saba Qamar! Rania’s body language, expressions, and dialogue delivery created magic on the screen. Veterans Fazeela Qazi, Saba Faisal, and Rashid Farooqui managed to do it well, while newbie Junaid Jamshaid Niazi has put his best to fit in this role. It was equally delightful to see Actor Agha Mustafa Hassan as Faraz, who was last seen in a similar role opposite Saba Qamar in Zee5’s web series ‘Mrs. And Mr. Shameem’.

The first episode of this exciting series conveyed a strong social message in an effective, meaningful, and intriguing manner. ‘Sar e Rah’ highlights the life and issues of four women and a trans person belonging to different backgrounds and professions. We’re excited but have our emotions in check; because how often have serials underdelivered after a resounding first episode?
