These Are 9 Must-Watch Meera Films That Should Be On Your List

With Saqib Malik’s ‘Baaji’ gracing our cinemas and getting rave reviews for its portrayal of various eras of Lollywood, a particularly renewed interest in yesteryear cinema is noticeable amongst the cinema-goers of the current era.

Also the fact that the leading lady Meera has surprised many new cinema fans with her effortless portrayal of Shahmeera in ‘Baaji’, the film has no doubt attained a ‘one of a kind’ status due to its subject matter. While many of you may have enjoyed Meera jee’s acting skills in her cinematic comeback, we assure you that Meera has been a versatile actor even before her latest flick, ‘Baaji’.

Here are a few major films of Meera jee which prove her as multi-talented and which you must watch in your leisure time, provided you get a hold of them. Despite the obvious shortcomings in the production and other features, Meera managed to deliver commendable performances in the following films:

Kaanta

‘Kaanta’ remains Meera’s big screen debut and is one of Meera’s most memorable flicks. She played a second lead in the film but was noted for her glamorous looks and impressive acting. The film is available on YouTube.

Khilona

‘Khilona’ was Meera’s big breakthrough after which she was taken seriously by filmmakers and cinema-goers of the 90s. It remains one of the most well-received works of director, Sangeeta. Playing an abused housewife who aspires for survival and a lasting relationship, Meera plays the demanding role with utmost ease. The film is amongst one of the many collaborations between Meera and Sangeeta who made feminist family-oriented cinema in the dwindling days of Lollywood.

Chief Sahab

‘Chief Sahab’, a Javed Sheikh directorial, revolved around land grabbing and slum settlements. It was a musical hit and one of its songs ‘Suno Suno, Bolo Bolo’, picturized on Meera and Saleem Sheikh, remained a chart buster. The song was also featured in one of the scenes of the recently released flick ‘Baaji’, where Shahmeera attends a talk show featuring Begum Nawazish.

Harjaai

Another underrated and forgotten flick starring Meera, alongside Babar Ali and Neeli, is ‘Harjaai’. It tells the story of a simple and loyal housewife who has to save her home from a rich, scheming woman who abuses her official and financial powers to break her home. ‘Harjaai’ also had melodious music like most of its hit contemporaries and remained a decent commercial success.

Inteha

For Meera ‘Inteha’ is the ‘Baaji’ of the 90s, for it was the film that revived her career and got her many accolades and awards. It was veteran actor Sameena Peerzada’s directorial and superstar Humayun Saeed’s cinematic début. The film also has a reference in ‘Baaji’ where Humayun playing himself in a cameo mentions that he started his cinematic career with Shameera, referring to the role he played opposite Meera in this 1999 hit. Meera was praised not only for her looks, dances which were choreographed by famous Indian choreographer, Saroj Khan, but also her portrayal of a housewife in an abusive relationship and a failed love life. Sadly enough, the film never had a television premiere and you may struggle finding it online. A few songs from ‘Inteha’, however, are available on YouTube.

Khoye Ho Tum Kahan

Ajab Gul is a popular name in Urdu and Pashto cinema from the 90s and before. ‘Khoye Ho Tum Kahan’ was his dream project and directorial début that saw widespread commercial and critical acclaim when released around 18 years ago.

Starring Babar Ali and Ajab Gul himself in leads opposite Meera, the film is a romantic thriller that was heavily inspired from the Hollywood flick ‘A Perfect Murder’ .The same film also provided heavy inspiration to Bollywood flick called ‘Humraaz’ starring Amisha Patel, Bobby Deol and Akshay Khanna.

KHTK remained a popular film amongst cinema-goers for it has an interesting story, beautiful locations that included the northern areas as well as exotic locales of Balochistan and Sindh, and a melodious soundtrack. Meera surprised everyone with a character that changes shades as the film progresses to an equally surprising yet satisfying ending.

Rukhsati

‘Rukhsati’ was an unusual film for its time. It was an aesthetically made art house film that followed the relationship of a loving couple who struggle with their marital life. Starring Moammar Rana and Resham alongside Meera, ‘Rukhsati’ was a long awaited directorial of the then-successful producer Shehzad Rafique (later known for Salakhen and the recently released Salute).

The film though bombed at the Box office but it was noted for beautiful direction and aesthetically created frames which by that time was almost gone from the rest of the cinema offerings.

Salakhain

A commercial success from Shehzad Rafique, the film was one of the most awaited films of its time and remained a big success. Meera played the second lead but it remained an equally strong role in a student action, crime drama that followed and centred around its male protagonists. The songs picturized on Meera also employed Indian choreographers and were shot in Nepal, an affair that was considered rather expensive at the time.

Devdas

Very few people know that there are two Pakistani versions of the super hit pre-partition era Bengali novel of the same name by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.

‘Devdas’ had seen its cinematic adaptations multiple times in the cousin industries of Bollywood and Lollywood that included 1956 (Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala), 1966 (Aijaz and Shamim Ara), and 2002(Sharukh andAishwariya). The last one included a 2010 Iqbal Kashmiri directorial starring Zara Sheikh and Nadim Shah in the lead roles with Meera portraying the role of Chandarmukhi. The Meera version, however, remained a low budget affair and saw a very limited release. It still deserves a watch for how receding Lollywood cinema can treat a grand subject such as Devdas on a budget. Meera and Zaara Sheikh both stood out in the film and so did the supporting cast.

The 18th Lux Style Awards 2019 took place in Karachi past weekend. The event was abundant with Pakistan’s top showbiz and entertainment names, some competing against each other for a chance to win the Lux statuette.

That being said, no winning can be done without having an iconic, show-stopping outfit on. Some steal the show with their glamor and, while some outfits barely make a difference and are cancelled. We don’t know about you but here’s what Hajira, Kahkashan and Atiqa at Galaxy Lollywood think about some very popular outfits.

Zara Noor Abbas and Asad Siddiqui

Hajira: Zara carried herself really well. She has impeccable taste in fashion but unfortunately her red carpet look failed to wow me. Her golden flow-y dress had no shape and looked rather sack-like.
Kahkshaan: I always wished someone would style her and finally got to see these gems! Rao Ali Khan did a fabulous job here. Love the pop of red on the lips which easily compliments the Hollywood waves and flow-y gown. Accompanied by her beau, Asad chose a good ol’ tuxedo which makes both of them look like super desirable.
Atiqa: I think Zara stole the show with her look. The gold red carpet gown was stunning and the red look was also very glamorous. Asad made nice arm candy with her, complimenting his better half.

Sana Javed

Hajira: Sana Javed missed the mark completely. Her eye makeup looks good but purple isn’t her color.
Kahkshaan: I’d have to be biased here just because Sana’s wearing one of my favorite colors. The only thing I’d change is have the sleeves upright as they look shabby here.
Atiqa: That dress did nothing for her. She’s a gorgeous girl but maybe a more flattering cut would’ve suited her better. The hair and makeup was okay.

Mehwish Hayat

Hajira: Mehwish is stunning, but her dress wasn’t doing much for her. Red is a dangerous color to pull off, and I think her outfit was very boring making her look like the opposite of a style icon.
Kahkshaan: I actually can’t understand what this outfit is. Is it a dress? A suit? An eastern or western outfit? God knows! Gangster Guriya mode much? Especially with that scary eye-makeup and hairdo.
Atiqa: Mehwish has impeccable style sense but at the LSAs she just looked like a giant, Christmas present.

Mahira Khan and Bilal Ashraf

Hajira: Leading lady of the big screen, Mahira, looked heart-stoppingly ravishing in the golden and brown outfit she was wearing. I could not take my eyes off her. The ever-dapper Bilal Ashraf looked oh-so-handsome in the classic black suit he donned. I mean, the man is so good looking he’ll make a sack look hot too!
Kahkshaan: Mahira is beautiful and we all know that, but then you look at the outfit and just wonder why she would pick that. It absolutely destroys Mahira’s whole persona. Bilal Ashraf looks dapper and fresh as ever!
Atiqa: The superstar couple looked super cute together. Bilal looked dapper but Mahira’s dress wasn’t very impressive IRL. It looks amazing in the pictures though.

Maya Ali and Sheheryar Munawar

Hajira: Maya Ali looked like she had just walked out of a fairy tale. With the stunning white gown and sleek bun she looked like an enchantress. It looked like Sheheryar was there to attend a “social-cause benefit gala” which is good I guess. Nothing truly noteworthy though.
Kahkshaan: The ‘Parey Hut Love’ duo walked in together and I’d have to say I’m kind of disappointed with Maya’s look. As much as I tried to love the Nomi Ansari dress, it does not speak haute couture to me. Coming to the hair, it looks like she had absolutely no time to get her hair done, thus put them in a bun. Also, that big chunky kundan-y necklace is a huge no from me. Sheheryar, on the other hand looks absolutely smart and handsome.
Atiqa: I didn’t know how to feel about Maya’s look at first but it grew on me. Loving the intimate pictures. Sheheryar looked handsome too.

Ushna Shah

Hajira: The talented actress was a breath of fresh air. Her form-fitting mermaid dress and high ponytail were giving me Beyoncé feels.
Kahkshaan: As much as I love the upper half of the outfit, the bottom makes me think how can one even walk in a gown like that? Kudos to the makeup artist for that glowy look but, hello, hair inspired by Beyonce’s Met Gala look?
Atiqa: Ushna’s look gave me some Beyoncé meets J-LO vibes and it was cool. Bonus points for her panache.

Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain

Hajira: When it comes to experimenting with style, Iqra Aziz doesn’t shy away. She went Ariana Grande-style with a gorgeous Ali Xeeshan pant suit including a long, hand painted train. Yasir Hussain, on the other hand, did not do the trick for me. His look was a little too funky for my taste.
Kahkshaan: This newly-engaged couple surely made heads turn in customized matching outfits from Ali Xeeshan. Once you understand the concept behind this outfit, that is when it makes you fall in love with it. The only thing I’d love to change here is not have Iqra’s fake ponytail as her short hair would have worked wonders instead.
Atiqa: I loved everything about the statement ensembles complimenting each other. Ali Xeeshan definitely did right by them. Too cute.

Sarwat Gillani

Hajira: You don’t see Sarwat Gillani a lot but when you see her it’s always her classy self. She was an amalgamation of alluring curves and beguiling features which I, for one, am crushing over!
Kahkshaan: Elsa vibes! Loving the nude makeup look and sleek straight hair, Sarwat nails this one.
Atiqa: I loved it. The dress, the hair and makeup, all on-point.

Momina Mustehsan

Hajira: Momina chose to wear a bright-yellow dress with a pleared skirt, which is good if one was attending high school but not up to the par for an award show. 10 on 10 for personality though!
Kahkshaan: Did Momina forget she’s attending LSAs and not a random birthday party? And who wears a cross body bag over a couture outfit? Cringe.
Atiqa: She looked cute but definitely not red carpet-ready.

Feroze Khan

Hajira: Feroze Khan is the chocolate boy of Pakistani dramas hence I expected him to dress the part but, honestly, he was giving off grandpa vibes with his checkered coat and long hair. A more millennial look would have done wonders!
Kahkshaan: Not a fan of this look at all, but it would have suited an older man. The brown suit and unkempt hair just adds years to Feroze’s age
Atiqa: The entire look was a NO for me. Feroze is capable of pulling off much more sophisticated looks. The checkered coat and unkempt hair was just a miss.

Meera

Hajira: Meera jee was all frills and shrills on the LSA Red Carpet, probably high on her movie Baaji’s success. She could have experimented a little more with her look.
Kahkshaan: Everything about this look is off – the top and bottom half just do not seem to compliment each other at all. Even the hair, makeup and accessories do not do anything to uplift the look.
Atiqa: I think Meera jee looked stunning, from the waist-up. I’m not too keen on the ruffled skirt.

Sadaf Kanwal

Hajira: I think Sadaf’s green dress and bold liner look was a little cringe-worthy. The problem was that her makeup, hair and dress were fighting for attention rather than complementing each other.
Kahkshaan: Not a sucker for satin silks at all, so this one’s a no from my side. Also the hair and makeup is kind of loud (Amy Winehouse vibes).
Atiqa: The colour, the cut, the slit, it all looked like a bit of a mess to me. I did not love it.

Imran Ashraf

Hajira: Imran looked elegant as ever in his black attire, but I truly think his wife stole the show.
Kahkshaan: Traditional attire done right! Thumbs up to Imran for choosing to wear a sherwani on the red carpet while others were lost in a swarm of suits.
Atiqa: The desi attire from Sapphire was a breath of fresh air. Also, Bhola can do no wrong.

Fahad Mustafa

Hajira: Fahad Mustafa carries himself with grace only a few can master. His LSA look was no different.
Kahkshaan: The embroidered flowers add an unconventional twist to what would have been an otherwise boring suit. Fahad sure pulls it off with ease!
Atiqa: Fahad played it safe. The suit was trendy yet elegant. He looked as handsome as ever.

Atif Aslam

Hajira: Atif looked good in his glittering black jacket suit. I guess glitz is “in” this season. He slays every style he chooses.
Kahkshaan: Totally digging this look! Atif surely looks like the rockstar he is in this custom Munib Nawaz suit.
Atiqa: I liked Atif’s red carpet look. He looked handsome and his suit had just the right amount of trendy mixed with flashy. Spot on.

Mawra Hocane

Hajira: Mawra looked super chic and sexy in the white maxi gown she wore. A Grecian goddess.
Kahkshaan: Lux girl Mawra was late to the party and rightfully so as she hits all the right notes in this Manish Malhotra gown. I’m glad she chose not to leave her hair open as it allows the outfit to do the talking. Subtle makeup and perfect hair, 10/10 for this one.
Atiqa: Mawra’s love for Manish Malhotra came through. I loved her look. The dress was stunning and the hair and makeup went really well with it.

Saba Qamar

Hajira: Saba was slaying the white evening dress she had on. With her hair swept back and nude makeup, she looked ethereal.
Kahkshaan: Not a fan of the satin silk gown. It’s way too muted and subtle. Maybe something of color would have worked well but kudos to the hair and makeup department for keeping the sophistication of the look intact!
Atiqa: In general, both of her looks were fine but considering she’s a Lux girl, they were lacking. Saba’s red carpet look lacked the ‘oomph’ you’d expect from her.

Is The Portrayal Of Women In Pakistani Dramas At All Progressive?

At a time when Pakistani society is perhaps its most progressive self, a lot of Pakistani dramas are still bent on representing modern women the old way. The narrative usually goes as such that a woman is either seeking a marriage proposal, trying to get the attention of a male protagonist for marriage, playing the character of a gold digger scheming to claw her nails into some innocent chap, or is fighting tooth and nail to get someone else’s husband’s attention.

Women are more than often depicted as either too spineless to stand up for themselves. If not that, they’re shown to be too spiteful that they single-handedly destroy entire families. Either way there is never really is no progression or middle ground.

Let’s take a look at some done-to-death plots for women our dramas have been portraying for quite some time now.

The gold digger plot

She is the woman who comes from a lower class family. She dreams for a large life but instead of working hard to accomplish those dreams, she schemes and schemes, and then schemes some more. She looks for a prospective husband in every other rich man and finally finds one only to realize that life is not a bed of roses.

You can witness this plot in dramas like ‘Gumrah’ where Hina Altaf plays the role of an opportunist girl, getting married to her friend’s father. You also see it in the hit show ‘Ranjha Ranjha Kardi’, where Noori marries Bhola for a place in society.

The woman vs. woman plot

This is by far the most used and popular story-line. Get yourself a “satti savitri” female-lead and add in a crazy ex-girlfriend (mostly larkay k phopo ki jilted baiti). Or get a power hungry saas paired with a jealous sister-in-law. For an extra kick, do a sister vs. sister themed show.

Such serials trivialize the importance of female bonds and show women as always scheming and plotting against each other. We see this story line in some very famous dramas like Khamoshi, Yaariyan and Mann Mayal where two female leads are seen competing for every thing in life.

The black magic plot

Black magic is also a go-to plot in Pakistani dramas. In almost every other show you’ll find a female antagonist who indulges in black magic like it’s a fun game of ball.

Adding it so casually to the plot normalizes its use (if it even exists and helps) and insinuates that women are involved in this act because they are unable to look beyond their spite. Shows like ARY’s ‘Kala Jadu’ and ‘Aalim’ have similar story lines.

Glamorizing adultery and brothels

To a large majority, adultery and brothels have the power to destroy a society completely. Yet the media uses this plot to herd in viewers all in the name of exploring female freedom and sexuality. Is showing women having illicit relations outside of marriage equate to progression?

Such was the show ‘Dil Tou Bhatkay Ga’ where Resham plays the role of a woman who is unhappy in her marriage and rejected by her adulterous husband. And then? Then she explores her own options outside of marriage. Latest to hop on the bandwagon is the hit show ‘Alif Allah aur Insaan’. Bringing tabooed topics to light is important, granted, but there is no need for them to be glamorized.

Pakistani dramas have come a long way in the past couple of years, but have they? In some dramas women are seen in progressive roles, but are they enough? I’ll let you be the judge of that.

The winners of the much-awaited 18th Lux Style Awards were announced last night at the awards ceremony held in Karachi. Nominations for the awards spanned across film, music, fashion and television. Yasir Hussain Proposed To Iqra Aziz Last Night And We’re Still Not Over It

Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain have been making relationship headlines for quite some time now. From Iqra always having Yasir’s back when he lands himself in yet another controversy, to the most recent bae-cation they took to Thailand together. The couple is often seen in one another’s Instagram stories and posts, chilling and making TikTok videos, looking super cute.

How it all began

Iqra’s first appearance on Yasir’s Instagram was in July of 2018. The post was captioned with a hashtag: ‘just friends’, and that was where it all started. From that picture to even today, the big question regarding their relationship has been if they’re dating or not. The couple were spotted attending events together, taking super cute selfies, going out and generally spending a whole lot of time enjoying each other’s company.

No solid statement was obtained from either of the stars on their relationship status other than plain refusal, but on the inside didn’t we all know where this was going?

Of LSAs and love

This year the unofficial theme for the Lux Style Awards was love and a cupid’s arrow definitely struck these two hard. The couple rolled up to the venue in custom Ali Xeeshan ensembles complimenting one another.

Just to make sure, we asked them the million dollar question to which Iqra Aziz gestured to the heart on her cape and then to a similar heart on Yasir’s jacket. The cheeky actor even asked, “ab kya stamp paper chahiye?” While we were happy enough with that confirmation, Yasir had another trick up his sleeve.

The proposal

The actor first set the mood by getting a romantic song played. Then he walked off-stage, gesturing the gathered cameras aside saying, “Bohot barra moment honay wala hai”. The funny man talked about how he spoke a lot and wrote lots of scripts but didn’t know what to say and that he had jelly legs, all while moving towards Iqra. He admitted to being confused “kyun ke zindagi ki baat ae to sab ho jatay hain”.

“Mujhey aik larki mili. Bohot pasand ai to men ne socha issi ke sath poori zindagi guzari jae”, he said. Then, referring to two awards Iqra had just won and calling the evening an acha mouqa, Yasir pulled out a ring, got down on one knee in front of Iqra and asked her “kya tum mujh se shaadi karo gi?”
Iqra, with happy tears in her eyes said “yes”, wore the ring and the now ‘official’ couple hugged it out with deafening applause and shouted congratulations from their friends.

It’s been seven days now since I first feasted my eyes on feature film, ‘Baaji’, but I’m yet to come out of the film’s left behind trance. As I pen this article, I am sitting replaying my ‘Baaji’ Instagram story for the gazillionth time. There was just something about this quintessentially filmi film that stayed with me. Whether it was the desi rawness, the bedazzling visuals, or the beautifully-written and performed characters – to me, it just made this film a befitting tribute to Lollywood.

Baaji: an acquired taste

Despite all the praise, it is not a perfect film. No, I am not talking about the unjustified hate for the film that I’ve been seeing on social media. Yes, there are a few issues, majorly with the writing of its climax, but the way the internet has been divided over this film is just perplexing.

A part of me thinks it is because cinema-goers don’t have that kind of exposure when it comes to ‘Old School Lollywood’. I mean if you haven’t heard ‘Suno Suno Bolo Bolo’ or don’t know what ‘Inteha’ was, or have little to no idea of stage theatre in Lahore, then I’m sorry, you will not really enjoy ‘Baaji’.

The alternative ending

Moving on to the main point of this article – the alternative ending. The climax of the film, ‘Baaji’ disappointed me big time and I am sure I am not the only one. So here is, according to me, an alternative and more fulfilling ending.

This is by no means an effort to belittle the efforts of Irfan Ahmed Urfi sahab who has done a brilliant job with the scripting. I just refuse to believe that the person who wrote the film and the last fifteen minutes is the same person. Nevertheless, this is a little something which, you could say, is an opinion/suggestion coming from a genuine supporter of the film and the industry in general.

Goes without saying SPOILER ALERT! Here goes.

THE BEGINNING

So up till the sex tape leak, the film is just perfect. But after the party scene when Shahmeera comes home is when things go haywire. Here is how I imagine things should have been:

Shahmeera comes home, she cannot yet fully register what has happened. She lashes out at Neha, abuses her some more, physically and verbally. A broken Neha goes back home in the midst of the night to her family, who is shocked to the core. They know about the sex tape, are disgusted, and the brother takes a final decision of cutting Shahmeera out of Neha’s life once and for all.

The coming days aren’t easy for Shahmeera either as she is ridiculed by the public and disowned by her close ones because of the shame she has brought them. Rohail also backs out of the film citing the negative image of Shahmeera. A shattered Shahmeera gets a final hit when she has to evict the house she had mortgaged for the film’s production.

Being the film star she is, she sees no hope but to end her life at her own terms, and wants this to be one last grand exit scene. She cuts out a silk piece of cloth, ties it to the fan, opens her social media account on Instagram, presses the ‘go live’ button, delivers a powerful monologue exposing the realities of the industry and how it throws out women of age, before committing suicide in front of everyone else.

Devasted and shocked, Rohail, Neha, Remmy and basically all the characters that were a part of her life make their way to her house, where the ambulance is taking out her body and *Badlan sad version* plays in the background.

The video has spread like wildfire and is all anyone can talk about. A montage of talk shows are shown to communicate to the viewers how Shahmeera’s suicide has become a national debate. There is an increased interest in making a biopic on Shahmeera’s life with producers lining up to sign Rohail as director, given his closeness to the actress in her last days. Rohail finally takes up on an offer and begins to hunt for the perfect face.

Rohail enlists Neha to help him with the casting but none of the girls seem to have that spark. Neha explains to the girls how Shahmeera actually was and Rohail has a moment of revelation after which he decides Neha should play Shahmeera. A reluctant Neha finally agrees. The film is made, it’s a blockbuster, Neha is a bonafide star, and there is a grand award ceremony where she gives a beautiful speech dedicating her award to Shahmeera.

Neha gets off the stage, the audience is sitting in a theatre hall-manner with a pathway dividing the two sides. Neha sees a vision of Shahmeera, who in the same way as Saqib shot in the film welcomes her, *Badlan happy version* plays and the film ends.

THE END

Once again, this is by no means an attempt to belittle someone, just some constructive feedback. Also, I would like some feedback from you guys too. What do you think of this alternative ending? Should we do more?

Mahira Khan And Bilal Ashraf’s Jodi Sizzles in The New ‘Superstar’ Song ‘Bekaraan’

Momina Duraid’s Superstar has been on all of our minds ever since it was announced, and it’s no secret that the on-screen electrifying jodi of Bilal Ashraf and Mahira Khan has kept the news mill abuzz for a while. A new song from the film titled ‘Bekaraan’ released last night and has set social media ablaze. The song featuring Mahira and Bilal was trending on all social media platforms and was also the #1 trend on Twitter last night in Pakistan.

The Sizzling Chemistry

Mahira and Bilal share crackling chemistry and after Fawad Khan, Mahira finally gets another costar with whom she shares natural chemistry and is comfortable on-screen. The two have danced beautifully together and also have given nuanced expressions depicting love, pain, and intensity with a touch of excitement in between.

Mahira, as always, is drop-dead-gorgeous with her outfits on point. However, it is her dreamy eyes that do the talking on her behalf and take the prize. Bilal Ashraf looks sharp and a perfect fit in Superstar’s world of glitz and glamour. Also, the actor’s new super lean avatar will definitely have the girls drooling.

The Grand Visuals and Music

Created by the acclaimed director, Ehteshamuddin, the cinematography looks top-notch.
The art direction deserves a special mention, the chandeliers, and wall paintings are spectacular. The sets are lavish and grand – enough to create a present-day magnum opus. The costumes are well-coordinated and suit the theme, with black providing a sense of intensity and romance.

The composition of ‘Bekaraan’ is by the talented duo Azaan Sami Khan and Saad Sultan. The lyricist, Shakeel Sohail, has penned down lyrics such as “mei bechain hoon, beqaraar ishq mein” which hit all the right spots. Ali Sethi and Zeb Bangash have done a fabulous job with the vocals.

Although an outdoor sequence, something on the mountains maybe, is missed in the song, given the vibe of the music. But the flawless choreography, music, and intensity do make up for it and give us a beautiful song. All eyes are now on the trailer.

In an interview with Something Haute, Ahmad Ali Butt revealed that he will soon be starring in a drama serial with the Suno Chanda megastar, Iqra Aziz.

The upcoming project called ‘Jhooti’ will feature the rather interesting duo as a couple, in which Butt will play the role of a middle-class shop owner. Iqra Aziz will feature as his wife, on whom the drama title is based. She will be playing the role of a compulsive liar, so we’re guessing we will be exposed to some dramatic and intense home entertainment.

Ahmad Ali Butt has been absent from television for a while, despite his acting big break coming through television, when he starred in Jutt and Bond alongside Fawad Khan. He expressed that he hadn’t really left television but just got caught up with film offers.

However, those who missed him, do not have to miss him so much now. After appearing in big successes like JPNA 1 and 2, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, and now Parey Hut Love, Butt is set to make a comeback to television with ‘Jhooti’.

Ahmad’s only demand from the producer Abdullah Seja was to get a script that was fresh. The character that Ahmad Ali Butt will be playing is rumored to be called Nasir, who has parents to look after and a lying wife to deal with. The mood of his character will, unlike his many roles, be serious.

Maya Ali is all set to star in upcoming film ‘Paray Hut Love’ with Shehryar Munawar. While the actress is busy promoting the movie, another interesting piece of news has surfaced. The Teefa In Trouble leading lady talked about an opportunity alongside Akshay Kumar in Bollywood.

Opportunities in Bollywood

Maya said, “I had auditioned for a role with Akshay Kumar”. The starlet reportedly went to India for the audition but despite the audition going well, did not end up moving forward. Maya said, “everything was decided but I could not proceed due to some problems”.
She also hopes to work with Ranveer Singh in the future. The Mann Mayal actress admires the Gully Boy star for his enthusiasm at work and alluring personality.

The actress also talked about her love for Bollywood films while saying, “I have watched almost every Karan Johar film so you can imagine what a Bollywood buff I am”.
Maya also revealed that she had never intended to work in the entertainment industry but now believes that it was her destiny and all of this was meant to be.

On Parey Hut Love

Maya Ali is busy promoting her upcoming film, Parey Hut Love, nowadays. She says she is ‘blessed’ to work on the project with Shehryar Munawar. Her debut film was Teefa In Trouble alongside Ali Zafar, which did well, and now is all set for her second appearance on the big screen over Eid-ul-Azha.
“I am lucky to have gotten a chance to play different roles in both the films. Teefa In Trouble was an action-comedy but Parey Hut Love is an emotional roller-coaster” added Maya on having worked on two different film genres back-to-back.
