Mahira Khan starer ‘Raees’ is banned in Pakistan by the censor board

The speculations surrounding the release of Mahira Khan and Shah Rukh Khan starer Bollywood film Raees come to an end, as the film has been banned by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to release in Pakistan.

The central board took the decision, as reported by Express Tribune and Dawn, on the pretext of objectionable content in the film which depicts Muslims, especially of a particular sect of Islam, in bad light.

“Owing to subtle portrayal of Muslims as criminals, violent and terrorists, the recommendations forwarded by the CBFC panel deemed the film unsuitable for public screening,” Express Tribune reported citing a source privy to the development.

Raees was speculated to release for a week after Ministry of Information issued the notification allowing release of Indian movies in Pakistan. The notification formally ended the four month long suspension of Bollywood films and opened the ways for Kaabil and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil to release last weekend in Pakistani cinemas.

This may disappoint the fans of Mahira Khan who wanted to see their homegirl creating magic on big screen opposite King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan.

Danish Taimoor talks to us about his upcoming film ‘Wajood’

Danish Taimoor is on a roll.

You may have missed seeing this hottie on the silver screen, for his last film ‘Wrong Number’ came out in 2015. But worry not, as he is all set to come back with a bang and feature in three films this year. You already know about Sangeeta Jee’s ‘Tum Hi To Ho’ and Yasir Nawaz’s ‘ Mehrunnisa V Lub You’ and joining these two biggies is Javed Sheikh’s directorial venture ‘Wajood’. Yes, this is the same ambitious film which Javed Sheikh first announced back in 2015 as his comeback to direction.

danish taimoor
There was a press event yesterday in Karachi where the cast of the film was announced which includes Danish Taimoor, Saeeda Imtiaz, Aditi Singh (Telugu film star) in leading roles. The ensemble cast also features Ali Saleem, Frieha Altaf, Faiza Khan, Asad Mehmood, Shaheen Khan and of course the trio of Nadeem Baig, Shahid and Javed Sheikh.  Seeing the three veterans together on stage was definitely one of the highlights of the event, more so since Shahid hasn’t been seen in a film for a long time and is making a comeback of sorts.

wujood 23 To know more about the film we contacted Danish and he told us that it’s a romantic thriller which revolves around the trio of Danish, Saeeda, and Aditi and that he is playing a pilot in the film. While we know of Saeeda we were curious to get more information about Aditi and Danish told us she has worked in Telugu films and it’s her first Pakistani film. Given the India-Pakistan tension how they would manage to shoot with an Indian star was the obvious question on our mind. To this Danish replied that her portions will be shot outside Pakistan and that it would not be a hassle.

Danish also told us how he was super excited to be working in a Javed Sheikh directorial and that this film will be definitely one to watch out for. On a final note, Danish revealed that the shooting is starting this February and that they are targeting an Eid-ul-Azha release for the film.

Given how Javed Sheikh has always changed the game when he has taken to the director’s chair, we are definitely super excited for this film. Here’s wishing him, Danish Taimoor and team Wajood all the best!

Hareem Farooq and Imran Kazmi join hands for the all-out comedy ‘Parchi’

With celebrating success of Janaan still underway, Hareem Farooq and Imran Kazmi, the co-producers of Janaan, seem to have spared no time in jumping on to their next venture: an all-out comedy film titled Parchi.

Parchi is a situational comedy and is currently in the pre-production phase. The film, produced under the banners of IRK Films, will be directed by Azfar Jafri, who also directed Janaan.

Speaking to Dawn Images Imran Kazmi, film’s one of the producers, gave us a few deets about the upcoming venture. Imran explained that the focus is on making the film lighthearted. “Since it’s a comedy film, we have tried to touch the topic of the film without any serious undertones, so that people can understand it more and have fun with it.”

Parchi features Hareem Farooq as the female lead in a story of “four men who get into a certain situation and seek help from a woman who has the solution since she has the authority and the power,” as revealed by her in an interview to The News on Sunday (TNS).

Having a political element (referring to the title of the film), Hareem promises that “nothing will be in-your-face, it won’t target any particular person.”

So far Hareem Farooq and Janaan co-stars Ali Rehman and Usman Mukhtar have been confirmed as the leads. However, the film is in need of two more lead actors who have yet to be finalized.

Enlightening us a little more about the film, Hareem Farooq, who is co-producing the film and also acting in it, said in the interview to TNS, “The kind of character that Parchi offers me has never been done before. Nobody has had the guts to do a role like that. I play a very strong woman who I personally related to a lot. We’ve given equal mileage to the men and the woman. It’s more about what suits the story.”

Parchi will be shot in Pakistan with background score done by Ahmed Ali and the remaining songs will feature a mix of artists and though it’s a comedy feature, “the content will have a serious and deeper meaning,” according to Imran.

Brace yourself guys! It’s time to mark your calendars for Parchi, which is promised to be released later this year.

The official notification, issued by the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage on Tuesday night, announces the continuation of ‘the existing open policy to display all international movies (including Indian films) in Pakistani cinemas’. This decision is taken by the government to support the ‘revival of cinema in Pakistan’, as the official notification states.

The notification further chalks out the procedure of obtaining the permission of exhibiting the imported film from Information and Broadcasting Division of Ministry of Information which will forward the request to Ministry of Commerce for the issuance of an import license. The film will be allowed to be exhibited only after the final approval by the relevant Censor Boards.

Surprise Surprise: Maya Ali is the female lead for Ali Zafar’s ‘Teefa in Trouble’

So what we exclusively revealed last week on our website and took down later because people involved with the film wanted us to take it down and since we are not a vicious click bait site  we removed it, is now public news!

Yes, its official. Maya Ali is the leading lady for Ali Zafar’s ‘Teefa in Trouble’.

Maya announced this news via an Instagram post which says “Believe the hype fans because it’s official! I’ve signed my first film. And opposite my fav @ali_zafar, directed by the awesome Ahsan Rahim! Wow!! Teefa, you are in trouble!”

The film titled ‘Teefa in Trouble’  will be directed by Ahsan Rahim and would star Ali Zafar and Maya Ali and would be the film debut for the three of them ( This is Ali’s first Pakistani film).
