Karachi Se Lahore spin-off will be bigger and better, reveals Wajahat Rauf

If you watched Karachi Se Lahore, a road-trip film by Wajahat Rauf, then you would clearly remember the character of Moti, a stammerer, who made you laugh your head off with his puns.

The good news is that Moti (Yasir Hussain) is ready to blow your mind again in the spin-off of 2015’s blockbuster film Karachi Se Lahore. The next project by Showcase Films has already been set in motion, as revealed by the producer and director of the film Wajahat Rauf in an exclusive talk with Galaxy Lollywood.

Moti 1The untitled spin-off will carry the story on from where it ended in Karachi Se Lahore (KSL) and it will revolve around the character of Moti. Yassir Hussain is essaying the role of Moti again. The film will have most of the new characters and cast. Some of the actors from KSL might give special appearance but its details are yet to be finalized. The film will be another road-trip and it will be set in Punjab this time, Wajahat Rauf shared.

“The people who liked Karachi Se Lahore will love this one too and its kinda Karachi Se Lahore 2.0. It will be bigger and funnier”, said Wajahat Rauf.

On a question what did he learn from KSL experience, Wajahat Rauf said that, “a lot of learning actually. Mostly positive that people of Pakistan are very supportive. We were not bothered by anyone when we were shooting and the audience response in cinemas was overwhelming.”

Galaxy Lollywood’s review of Karachi Se Lahore.

KSL felt a bit dragged at points, which director also admitted as one of the shortcomings of the film. “Another learning from KSL was to start the action/story immediately rather than putting in scenes to establish the characters. Backstory of each character can be told in a different way.“, he further shared his learning experience from KSL.

KSLSo when we asked what will be improved in the new film, Rauf shared that, the overall pace will be faster and we will have more crisp dialogues and bigger setup for the songs“.

The script of the spin-off, written by Yasir Hussain who also wrote the script of KSL, has been finalized and the film is going to hit the floors from January. The film is targeted for Eid-al-Azha release next year.

Yasir Hussain rose to overnight fame after exhibiting his strong acting and writing skills in Karachi Se Lahore. Since then he has been signed up for various big projects including writing the dialogues of Asim Raza’s debut film Ho Mann Jahaan. He is also writing the script of Fahad Mustafa’s first home production Band Tu Ab Baje Ga, a rom-com directed by Anjum Shahzad. With all these projects in his plate, Hussain is surely one of the busiest men in the industry right now.

Karachi Se Lahore, staring Ayesha Omer, Shahzad Sheikh, Yasir Hussain and Javed Sheikh, became the fourth highest grossing film of the year 2015. It was received well by the audience and termed as a laughing riot. Fresh comedy, young cast and diverse cultural flavor, the film had all the right ingredients. It also owns the credit of being the first Pakistani film to have its premiere in Hollywood.

Meera allegedly injured the female producer of Nadia Khan Show

“Meera” is synonymous of “drama queen”. She knows how to stay in the news. Be its her English which causes hysteria or a raunchy video getting leaked online. Be its her new marriage scandal or a steamy item number in a C class Indian film. She never runs low of tricks or mishaps to stay in news and create new controversies and drama.

This time Meera-incident happened at the set of Nadia Khan Show (NKS) where she allegedly attacked and injured female producer of the show and refused to appear as a guest in the show despite having a prior commitment and being paid for it.

Nadia Khan recently re-launched her popular morning show after several years on Geo TV and the show is already getting high ratings and plethora of advertisements and sponsors.

https://www.facebook.com/nksgeo/photos/pb.385177521512203.-2207520000.1447778542./1189554881074459/?type=3&theater

According to infuriated Nadia Khan, Meera was invited as a guest on the show and for this she was in contact with the show’s Guest Coordinator for more than two weeks through her manager (Sohail). They had settled everything including the script of the show and the payment. There was supposedly no issue at all.

Perhaps in the morning of Nov 16th, when Meera reached the set of NKS, she refused to come out of the car as she thought she were supposed to be at some other set for another recording. The producer of the show liaised but Meera got enraged and injured her arm by attacking her. Later Nadia Khan herself tried to mediate and requested her to record the show but Meera did not listen to her as well and cut herself off in the make-up room.

Meera’s manager, Sohail, had already flown from the scene to avoid any further insult as “Meera is accustomed of throwing tantrums at eleventh hour”, he told the Guest Coordinator before running off.

This is the version of the story we learned in live Nadia Khan Show from Nadia Khan. The other side of the story is not known yet as Meera has not shared anything with media yet about this incident. We are waiting to know when Meera speaks in her defense and clears the air. Till then watch the anecdote from Nadia Khan herself in the video below.

We feel pity for the poor morning show producer who suffered because of her team’s choice of the guest for that morning. Poor lady!

A video is shared on Nadia Khan Show’s Facebook page, in which we can see how the show’s team is trying to console Meera but she seems in no mood to give herself up.

Humayun Saeed will return to TV after 4 years in Faiza Iftikhar’s script ‘Dillagi’

Humayun Saeed is unstoppable. After performing in two blockbuster films, Bin Roye and Jawani Phir Nai Ani, this year and doing cameos in other twos, Manto and Dekh Magar Pyaar Say, Saeed has already embarked on the journey of another eventful and successful year.

The actor/producer is part of the ensemble cast of eagerly awaited war action drama Yalghaar releasing next year and he has also roped in by Mahesh Butt for a film, Dushman, in Bollywood. But, he is not committed to the silver screen only as the handsome actor is returning to the small screen after a hiatus of four years in a TV serial Dillagi. Previously, he appeared in ARY Digital’s Kafir along with Ayesha Khan in 2011.

“Dillagi is going to be produced by Humayun [Saeed]’s own production house Six Sigma Plus. Fans can rejoice as Humayun’s leading co-actor in the serial will be Mehwish Hayat. The duo was last seen collaborating in Jawani Phir Nahin Ani where they were both praised for their on-screen pairing and presence.” says the official press release announcing the news of Saeed’s next TV venture.

Saeed is not only reuniting with Hayat in the serial but he will also be working again under the aegis of Nadeem Baig, the director of his home production and record smashing hit Jawani Phir Nai Ani. Nadeem Baig is the name behind many hit TV serials including the cult hit Pyaray Afzal staring Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ayeza Khan.

The script of Dillagi is penned by digest writer turned drama writer Faiza Iftikhar. Faiza Iftikhar has become a household name after writing scripts of many popular serials most notably Aik Nayee Cinderella, Bilqees Kaur and Aun Zaara.

Speaking about why he chose Dillagi as his comeback project, Humayun stated “It is one of the best scripts I have come across in a very long time. Faiza Iftikhar has written it very well; in fact it wouldn’t be wrong to say this is one of her best works till date. Then of course Nadeem is directing it. I have always preferred to do projects that have very well put together teams, which is why Dillagi felt like the perfect serial to do after a break of 4 years”.

Dillagi might not be the only serial the viewers will get a chance to see Humayun Saeed on TV next year as the TV version of film Bin Roye, based on the novel ‘Bin Roye Ansoo’ by Farhat Ishtiaq, is also lined up to be on-aired some time next year by HUM TV.

Javed Sheikh signs distribution deal for his directorial comeback

With five of his Pakistani films already released in 2015, he has been the busiest Pakistani film actor of the year. At this age, with such class. But there is no stopping him making us amazed at his energy as he will now be playing director.
