Feroze Khan and Sajal Ali to ignite their magic on big screen now

They made you fall in love with them in ARY’s super hit drama Chup Raho, and are back again on small screen with HUM TV’s Gul-e-Rana. But the great news is that they won’t be stopping there with their on-screen magic and will soon be making their silver screen debut.

Sharing a great on-screen chemistry with each other, the beloved reel-life couple has signed a film together with ace director, Anjum Shehzad.

Titled as Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai (ZKHH), “the film would be an intense love story showing the journey of a couple, Zain Ahmed (Feroz Khan) and Mahira (Sajal Ali) who fall in love and get married at a tender age only to fret over it later,” says the press release announcing the official launch of the film.

ZKHH will be the debut film of both of the young stars.

 

Produced jointly by RC Films and Kingfisher Films, the film is being directed by the three times winner of Lux Style Awards, Anjum Shahzad, who is also the director of much awaited Fahad Mustafa and Iman Ali starer Mah-e-Meer. Shahzad has another film project in pipeline named, Band Toh Ab Bajay Ga; a comedy riot being produced by Fahad Mustafa.

Apart from that, Shahzad has given various TV hits including, Khuda Aur Muhabbat (Imran Abbas), Satrangi (Fawad Khan), and Mora Piya (Adeel Hussain, Aamina Sheikh) in past. He also directed the television remake of classic Pakistani film, Armaan.

Talking about the film, Shahzad said, “Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai is the story of a 21st century relationship and marriage, embarking at a young age.” He further added that, “life is beautiful, and we are making a film about this gift of life that will reach out and connect to people from all walks of life – and is at the heart of it extremely Pakistani.”

The story of ZKHH is penned by Abdull Khaaliq Khan, who previously penned down the drama serial Kaafir (Humayun Saeed, Aisha Khan) for ARY Digital.

Veteran actors, Shafqat Cheema and Nayyar Ejaz along with a new face, Jibrayl Ahmed Rajput, will also be seen in the film besides the lead couple.

According to an earlier report on the film, some initial phase of the project has already been shot and the film is slated for an early 2016 release.

Get ready for dual cameo icing on “Ho Mann Jahaan” cake

It seems that Asim Raza has decided to leave no stone unturned to make Ho Mann Jahaan one of the biggest affairs of Pakistani cinema. With splendid and talented cast which includes Shah Rukh Khan’s heroine, adorable Mahira Khan, Adeel Hussain, Sheheryar Munawar and Sonya Jahaan, the film will also boast cameos by industry’s two heartthrobs, and none other than, sensational Fawad Khan and hunky Hamza Ali Abbasi. The film is surely bound to make people go gaga over it.

This surprising addition of Hamza Ali Abbasi for a special appearance in the film was kept a secret until this BTS video of Ho Mann Jahaan made its way to the internet.

Hamza Ali Abbasi can be seen in the character of a Malang in the video. It is not sure if the character will be comic or non-comic, but at least we can see the enthusiasm and energy they had during the shoot.

Earlier, in a seven minute Behind The Scene video of the film, which was released online couple of weeks after the release of theatrical trailer, Fawad Afzal Khan made his appearance and revealed about his cameo in the film. Fawad Khan will be seen in a Pakistani film after more than 8 years. He debuted at critically acclaimed Khuda Kay Liye in 2007.

Mahira Khan wins Best Actress award for Bin Roye at Masala! Awards 2015

Bin Roye was Mahira Khan’s film. She nailed the character of Saba and impressed everyone with her strong performance and not to forget that bangles smashing scene was the most intense act of mellow and soft-spoken Mahira till date.

Her Bin Roye spell is not over as the gorgeous actress won Best Actress award for her role in the commercial hit at the recently held Masala! Awards 2015 in Dubai.

“In my own little small way, I am representing Pakistani cinema over here on an international platform”, Mahira expressed while accepting the award.

Masala! Awards are held annually in Dubai celebrating the talent and achievement of media community in UAE. Mostly the Indian stars dominate the categories and win big but this is the first time a Pakistani actress wins an award in the category of Best Actress for her work in a Pakistani film.

Last year, Fawad Khan won the award for Best Bollywood Debut and Humaima Malik achieved the title of Breakthrough Performer (Pakistani Cinema) at Masala! Awards.

The grand affair was attended by some prominent names from Pakistani glitterati including Sanam Saeed (Mah e Meer) and the duo Farhan Saeed and Urwa Hocane (Na Maloom Afraad). Farhan also performed on his song “Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai” in the award ceremony.

Another Pakistani filmmaker, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s, film joins the Oscar race

This is an unprecedented year, as not one but two films of Pakistani filmmakers made to the long and short list of Oscar nominations this year.

A month ago we heard the news of Jami’s “Moor” joining the long list of Foreign-Language Film nominations, contending with 80 other films, and just recently Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, first Pakistani Oscar winning director’s, documentary “A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness” is shortlisted for the nominations in the category of Documentary Short.

A Girl in the River is contending with 9 other films in the category. The final nominations of 5 documentaries will be announced in January next year. The complete shortlist can be found here.

“A Girl in the River, which is a joint production of Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy (SOC) Films and Home Box Office (HBO) follows the life of an 18-year-old girl who is a survivor of an honour killing attempt.”, reports Dawn Images.

Chinoy won an Oscar in 2012 in the same category for the documentary film “Saving Face”. She has also won an Emmy award, which is equivalent to TV’s Oscar, for the documentary “Pakistan: Children of the Taliban”. She received Pakistani’s highest civilian award, Hilal-i-Imtiaz, for bringing laurels home from the president of Pakistan in 2012.

Muneeb Butt and Sanam Chaudary are set to enthrall in rom-com “Ishq 2020”

Crew Motion Pictures, a part of The Crew Films and the makers of social-drama Dukhtar (2014) which bagged an award for the Best Actress at Lux Style Awards this year, revealed first of their seven projects in the pipeline.

The film, titled as, Ishq 2020 is a youth based romantic comedy film and it features young and promising actors Muneeb Butt, Sanam Chaudary, Furqan Qureshi and Mariam Ansari, as revealed in the official press release by Crew Motion Pictures.

Muneeb and Sanam are playing the characters of the leading pair in the film. It is the second film of Muneeb who was seen earlier in Halla Gulla, released this year on Eid-al-Azha. Sanam, who has garnered a considerable fan following over a short period of time based on her remarkable work on TV, will debut in the film.

Ishq 2020 is about the youth, their believes and understanding of love and life, says the press release.

“It is about the feeling of love. Be it 1857, or 2020 or even in future one thing that can’t be changed is the feeling of love. That will always remain constant”, shared by Asma Nabeel, Head of Films, The Crew Films, while discussing the story behind the title of the film exclusively with Galaxy Lollywood.

The leading lady of the film, Sanam Chaudary, expressed her feelings on signing the first film project in following words, “this is an elevation in my acting career as its going to be my first feature film and I am super excited. I am on cloud no. 9. All the best to the team and everyone involved”.

We also spoke to the heartthrob Muneeb Butt, who is transforming to a muscular hunk for the film, about his latest venture. “I’m flooded with euphoria and feeling extremely grateful to Allah as I  have recently signed my second movie Ishq 2020. The entire team of the movie is very promising and I hope that this will be a great support for the revival of the Pakistani cinema”, said the handsome star.

The film is being directed by Najaf Bilgarami and co-directed by Asma Nabeel and Khalid Ali. Bilgirami was also associated with the earlier production of Crew Motion Pictures, Dukhtar, as the cinematographer. The script of the film is penned by Asma Nabeel and Ahsan Firdosi.

The styling of all stars is being taken care of with great attention. The film will present the young actors in attractive avatars catching the people’s attention, Asma shared the plans.

Dukhtar was praised for being a women-centric film and this legacy will be continued by Ishq 2020 as the film has a female protagonist. “In all the recent films the story is around a lot of people but here the story is revolving around our girl”, Asma explained.

The makers of Ishq 2020 are also trying to rope in a Bollywood star for a guest appearance in the film and they are in talks with a production house in India for this, as shared in the press release. Earlier Bollywood veteran actor Naseerudin Shah has worked in two Pakistani films, Khuda Ke Liye and Zinda Bhaag.

Besides this, the film’s music will be a treat for everyone and the singers from Pakistan and India will be involved in the project, as shared by Asma Nabeel with Galaxy Lollywood. More details of it will be shared as the things take shape.

“Ishq 2020 is our dream. A dream to give Pakistani cinema a true film flavor. The story is strong and it will be a great big screen experience for all the cinema lovers”, Asma shared her aspirations.

The film is expected to hit cinemas next year on Eid.

Film, Fashion and Music under one roof for Huawei’s Mate S Phone launch event.

It was a night like none other as the biggest names from the film, fashion and music fraternities assembled under one roof to celebrate the launch of Huawei’s latest phone Mate S. Moreover, what made this event even special for us at Galaxy Lollywood was the presence of the ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani’ cast specially Humayun Saeed and Aisha Khan, who had flow in from Karachi, exclusively for this event. The reason for this was that the grand launch was not only about the new phone but was also a mini party to celebrate the mind boggling success of the recent blockbuster film’Jawani Phir Nahi Ani’.

Kareena Kapoor is set to sign Shoaib Mansoor’s film

Kareena Kapoor Khan is set to sign Pakistani director Shoaib Mansoor’s film, as reported by Mid-day.

The speculation of Shoaib Mansoor eyeing Bollywood ace film actress Kareena Kapoor Khan for his next film originated last month. The latest update tells that the duo are meeting in Dubai next week where Khan will listen to the script before formally locking the deal with the iconic director of critically acclaimed films Khuda Key Liye and Bol.

“A few months ago, Mansoor had e-mailed his concept to Kareena, saying that she will have a powerful role in the film. She liked the idea but wanted to read the script before giving her nod to the film. She will be the first A-list actress to work in a Pakistani project.”, a source closed to Khan told Mid-Day.

Khan had showed interest in working with Mansoor a couple of months ago. “I really want to work with him, he has made some fantastic content driven films and is a wonderful filmmaker,” the actress said about Mansoor.

Kareena Kapoor, while taking a break from the shooting of her next film Ki and Ka, is flying to the Emirates to meet the director. “Although Kareena has verbally accepted the offer, she wants to hear the script. Post that, she will sign the deal. For a while now, she has been keeping an eye out for projects that will allow her to push the envelope and believes that Mansoor’s story is one of them,” adds the Mid-Day’s source.

There is also a rumor, which Galaxy Lollywood learned from a bird, that the film will be directed by Mansoor but it might be a joint venture with some international company. Such rumors will keep surfacing until Mansoor or Khan formally announce the project.

Mid-day also revealed that the social media shy actress is finally joining micro-blogging network Twitter where she will disclose the deal by the end of this month.

It seems this exciting project is not far from being officially announced. We will keep you updated as we hear more about it.

Ho Mann Jahaan: A story of youth, their issues and celebrations

“It’s really difficult to limit and define Ho Mann Jahaan in just one word or a sentence since we have touched on a variety of subjects in it, but if I would still really have to do it then I would say it’s a story of youth, their joys, their sorrows, issues, worries and celebrations,” said the director of Ho Mann Jahaan, Asim Raza, replying to a Galaxy Lollywood question regarding how would he define the film in terms of its genre.
