Box Office: Looks like we may have to bid ‘Project Ghazi’ goodbye

22nd March saw the release of two local films; Sherdil and Laal Kabootar. In the week following that, another local release – Project Ghazi – hit the cinemas on the 29th of March. The films, combined, have brought some much-needed footfall to the cinemas. Sherdil, since its release, has earned over 8 crores despite all the mixed reviews it got. Laal Kabootar, on the other hand, has hit almost 2 crores. As for Project Ghazi, well, the film has crashed badly (as expected) and has been able to gather 85 lacs only.

Project Ghazi

Project Ghazi, as per our predictions, could not do well on the Box Office altogether. The film earned approximately 70 lacs on the opening weekend while it could only gather 10 lacs yesterday. The numbers are abysmal and are a living testimony to the fact that the content has been rejected by the audience through and through.

Here is the detailed breakdown:

Friday: 30 lacs

Saturday: 25 lacs

Sunday: 20 lacs

Monday: 10 lacs (rough estimates)

Total: 85 lacs

The film, beyond any doubt, has crashed and looks like keeping our fingers crossed hasn’t really helped.

Sherdil

The film has been a box office marvel since the beginning. After having a wonderful first week, the movie entered the second week with a rather decent hold.

The break-down for Sherdil’s approximate box office collection, until now, is as follows:

Week One: 6.05 crores

Week 2 Friday: 50 lacs

Week 2 Saturday: 75 lacs

Week 2 Sunday: 55 lacs

Week 2 Monday: 22 lacs (Rough Estimates)

Total: 8.07 crores

As the numbers indicate, the film’s numbers have witnessed a fall on Monday but that’s understandable given there is less audience on weekdays anyway. The film is expected to reach the 8.5 to 8.75 crore mark soon, depending on how well it holds. The coming weekend, we have another Hollywood movie DC Shazam releasing. It’d be interesting to see how Sherdil performs amidst all of this.

Laal Kabootar

As for Laal Kabootar, the film has been doing decent business, given it banks on a niche and doesn’t have mass appeal elements like its competitor Sherdil.

The break-down for its approximate box office collection, until now, is as follows:

Week One (includes premiere shows): 1.29 crores

2nd Friday: 15 lacs

2nd Saturday: 22 lacs

2nd Sunday: 19 Lacs

Week 2 Monday: 9 lacs

Total: 1.94 Crore

Just like Sherdil, Laal Kabootar has seen a decline in Monday’s numbers but the fall is only 40% as compared to its 2nd Friday, which is very normal. Since we have DC Shazam coming on the weekend, it would be important for Laal Kabootar to hold rather well on the weekend. Fingers crossed.

We cannot vouch for the authenticity of these box office numbers given by independent box office tracking site EPK Pakistan However, until we have some official box-office tracking system in Pakistan this is all we have got. The numbers are also revised at times and hence you may observe fluctuations.

“Looks like some actors are being paid to hype up the LUX Style Awards,” jokes Yasir Hussain

We did a rather detailed article on all the controversies the LUX Style awards 2019 nominations have brought with them, these past few days. From Mohsin Abbas Haider calling out the LSAs for blatantly ignoring his play Meri Guriya in all the drama related categories to Eman Suleman expressing her discomfort in sharing her nomination with someone who has been accused of sexual harassment (read Ali Zafar), the awards have been making headlines for the past few days now.

Amidst all the chaos, Yasir Hussain – of the KSL series fame – shared a rather funny notion on his Instagram story today. Here is what it said:

The curious beings that we are, we got in touch with Yasir Hussain to understand what he meant.

What Yasir himself had to say

“Even though I am relatively new to the industry, I have always known that there are no credible awards in the country. How come our old faces are realizing this just now? As long as they were being nominated, everything was fine and now that they no longer are, suddenly LSAs are not credible anymore,” said Yasir Hussain.

Even though Yasir didn’t exactly mention any names, we are assuming that these old faces may include names like Syed Jibran, Imran Abbas, etc. but again, we do not know for sure.

While further explaining the reasoning behind his joke, Yasir said, “the thing is there is always a lobby system when it comes to awards, in all parts of the world. For instance, the award shows hosted by some of our TV channels almost always give awards to people belonging to their lobby, the same goes for the LUX Style Awards as well. I don’t understand the hue and cry, this time around. This is how it has always been. That’s why I joked that it feels as if LUX is probably paying them to create all this hype. Hamesha awards par log tou naraz hote hee hain, 5 log nominate hotay hain, 15 naraz hotay hain. Everybody obviously likes their work and wants to be nominated. This happens every time, I don’t know what’s so special about this time.”

Although Yasir was definitely joking, we still think he has got a point. What do you think of the entire situation? Let us know in the comments.

Exclusive: ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Dumbo’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to release in Pakistan

We’ve got some good news, you all!

After a rather disappointing last few weeks for Marvel fans where Captain Marvel could not make its way to Pakistan, and the release of Avengers: Endgame also hanging up in the air, we have got some exciting news.

Release dates

As per our high placed sources, both these films will be coming to Pakistani cinemas. Avengers: Endgame will be releasing in Pakistan on April 26, 2019, coinciding with its worldwide release date, whereas Captain Marvel which already released worldwide on March 8, 2019, will be coming to Pakistan super soon (ARE YOU EXCITED OR ARE YOU EXCITED?).

Dumbo follows suit

Furthermore, Walt Disney’s Dumbo which also could not make its way to Pakistan will be releasing in about two weeks too, alongside Captain Marvel. Censor for Captain Marvel and Dumbo is going to take place this week and once that is done, the films will be hitting the cinemas as soon as possible.

The reason for this delay in Disney Film’s Pakistan release was due to some monetary issues, where price negotiations proved to be a hindrance. However, now that it has been resolved, these films are coming to Pakistan as will all future Disney movies.

This news is definitely a huge win for cinemas owners who in absence of Bollywood were struggling to keep afloat. The footfalls were extremely low and major downsizing was also in progress where multiple screens were being shut down. But, last week’s release Sherdil did bring some hope, and now with these Hollywood releases, looks like the cinemas are back in business, and the audiences too will get to see the newest releases in theatres, soon.

Box Office: ‘Project Ghazi’ crashes over the weekend while ‘Sherdil’ and ‘Laal Kabootar’ hold well

Last weekend was expected to continue the good run for our local cinemas, in lieu of the two 22nd March releases; Sherdil and Laal Kabootar. This weekend saw the release of Project Ghazi as well and while the film had some potential (which was ruined by a total lack of good execution), it completely crashed over the weekend. The film opened with 30 lacs and did 25 and 20 lacs on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Project Ghazi

We, in our review, predicted that the film would not be appreciated much by the audiences and, (un)fortuantely, that is exactly what happened. The film failed on quite a number of levels. Although the star cast – Humayun Saeed and Syra Shehroz in particular – look good on the big screen, the script and direction fail them, for the most part.

It is important to realize that in these bad times for our cinemas, the content needs to be up there for the industry. Pakistani movies need to focus on their scripts more as any new ideas can fall flat on their face if not done well, and hopefully, this film will be a lesson for all. Unfortunately, Project Ghazi‘s survival chances are lost as the content has been rejected totally and this film will go down as a colossal failure.

Laal Kabootar

Laal Kabootar, on its 2nd weekend, has held itself well but it has sustained itself on lower levels, yet again. The film closed its 2nd weekend at around 55 lacs. The film will have to continue to do some good business in the coming weeks to stay afloat. The content is good but considering the number of shows it has, the business is not up to the mark. Nonetheless, Laal Kabootar has collected 1.66 crores approximately in nine days and is expected to hit the 2 crore mark in the coming weekdays.

Sherdil

Sherdil has managed good collections on the 2nd weekend too as the film collected 50 lacs on Friday and 75 lacs on Saturday. The film has crossed the 8 crore mark in ten days. The film is doing well for its self and the business in twin cities; Islamabad/Rawalpindi has been phenomenal, beating many foreign biggies. Sherdil has capitalized on the India-Pakistan conflict and the masses seemed to have enjoyed the content. The film seems to be on the course of being a good success at the box-office.

We cannot vouch for the authenticity of these box office numbers given by independent box office tracking site EPK Pakistan However, until we have some official box-office tracking system in Pakistan this is all we have got. The numbers are also revised at times and hence you may observe fluctuations.

Lux Style Awards 2019 nominations: Is the list really all that controversial?

Would it even be Lux Style Awards without controversies? The nominations for this year’s 18th Lux Style Awards, which will be held in July, are out and thus, follow the customary reactions of shock and outrage. A quick glimpse at the long list of nominations – which cover all forms of mainstream Pakistani entertainment; from film to fashion to music – shows that there are some definite ‘wins’ in the nominations. However, it is the ‘snubs’, which have become a tradition of sorts for LSA, that have made their presence known quite clearly.

So, is the list really all that controversial? Well, let’s see how the industry folks have reacted to it:

Critical and commercial successes ignored

Mohsin Abbas Haider, who has been nominated in the ‘Best Singer’ category took to his social media and called out the LSAs for blatantly ignoring his play Meri Guriya in all the drama related categories. The drama has Mohsin playing the role of the antagonist, a sexual predator who targets unsuspecting young girls specifically and has highlighted the gravely prevalent social issue of child abuse.

Mohsin called the snub as “disrespectful” towards the entire team of Meri Guriya and frankly, we don’t disagree.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BvoS-85npgR/?utm_source=ig_embed

Abdullah Seja, head honcho of iDream Entertainment, also voiced out his disappointment. Having produced dramas like Koi Chand Rakh, Haiwan, and Meri Beti, Abdullah used Facebook to talk about the way all the dramas were ignored in the nominations.

His post started by talking of actors Faysal Qureshi, Ayeza Khan, Areeba Habib, and Saheefa Jabbar Khatak, and called out the LSAs for ignoring them in all the best actor categories. He pointed out the clear absence of Koi Chand Rakh from the ‘Best Drama’ and ‘Best OST’ category and talked about how the drama was a ratings and online hit and its OST video had more than 13 million views on Youtube.

Shani Arshad, the composer of Koi Chand Rakh’s OST, made a point on twitter and called out the jury for not doing thorough research while making the nomination list. He pointed out how Koi Chand Rakh’s official video on Youtube had way more views than most of the nominated OSTs for the award.

Shani does make a solid case here. When the snubbed OST has raked in close to 14 million views on Youtube and one of the nominated OSTs hasn’t even garnered three thousand views on its official video, the situation does start to look very fishy.

The interesting comment sections

The comments under Abdullah’s post had many names from the industry agreeing with him with rather interesting comments of their own.

For instance, Imran Abbas called the awards as “SUX Style Awards” and said there are no credible award shows in Pakistan, to begin with. Ramsha Khan talked about how actors like Faysal Qureshi and Ayeza Khan don’t need awards as the appreciation of the audience that they get is what matters the most. She, too, cryptically commented about “how these awards work” and that award shows in this country don’t matter.

Syed Jibran ignored all the drama related to the dramas and just asked how two actors from the film Cake managed to bag the ‘Best Actor’ nominees? Nadia Khan chimed in to agree with Abdullah while Faysal Qureshi let his sarcastic laugh comment do the talking. Writers Saima Akram Chaudhry (writer of Suno Chanda and another snub of the year) and Maha Malik (Koi Chand Rakh) used the idiom “andha baante revdi phir apno ko de” to succinctly express their views (can y’all please hold on? Let us just grab our popcorn).

Trouble for Teefa

The film categories weren’t lacking any drama either. Ahsan Rahim, director of Teefa in Trouble, made a post on his twitter account and spoke about how the film’s music was completely ignored by the jury.

He, too, posted screenshots of the Youtube views the film’s songs have gotten, alongside his post where he called out the “certain biases of certain people” as being the reason for the snub. He requested the “credible voices in the industry and media to raise their voices against the open bias and discrimination for a healthy and credible industry.”

It is to be noted here that while the music of the film hasn’t been given any nod of acknowledgment from the jury, the film has been nominated in the ‘Best Film’ category while Ahsan has been nominated as the ‘Best Director’, with the film’s lead Ali Zafar bagging a ‘Best Actor’ nominee.

Which brings us to Eman Suleman. The model/actress, who has been nominated as the ‘Best Emerging Talent’ in the Fashion category, put out a video on her social media where she expressed her discomfort in sharing her nomination with someone who has been accused of sexual harassment.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bvo6Ah6F1E3/?utm_source=ig_embed

Eman didn’t say any names but it isn’t wrong to assume that she was talking about the Ali Zafar – Meesha Shafi controversy. She thanked the LSAs for the nomination but said that she feels, “no joy” in sharing the accolade with an “alleged harasser.” In all the reactions that have followed the nominations, Eman is the only person who has chosen to give up her nomination while most of the other people are merely seen expressing disappointment because they didn’t get nominated.

A brief look at the rest of the list

On the whole, the list of nominations is what it has always been – satisfying for those who are a part of it (and their fans) and dissatisfying for those who aren’t.

Social media is ripe with discussion on the nominations. Some people have called LSA out on Parwaz Hai Junoon not getting ‘Best Film’ nomination while Haseeb Hassan got nominated as the ‘Best Director’ for it.

Darr Si Jaati Hai Sila has been nominated in many categories but, unfortunately, there is no ‘Best Actress’ nomination for Yumna Zaidi who had quite wonderfully played the titular character Sila, a mentally disturbed victim of prolonged sexual and mental abuse. Farhan Saeed didn’t get any nomination for Suno Chanda when his performance in the show was on-par, if not better, with his nominated co-star Iqra Aziz. And interestingly enough, Mahira Khan and Maya Ali haven’t been nominated for their films either. This does come as quite a shock as both the represent the brand as Lux Girls.

LSAs is adamant on making sure that the nominations don’t exceed the number five. Then it goes on and removes the ‘Best Supporting Actor/Actress’ category so the nominations have become even more confusing now.

Cake bagged four nominations out of ten Best Actor/Actress category while Parwaz Hai Junoon didn’t get even one. Although it is great to see Bilal Abbas Khan and Sami Khan being appreciated as Best Actors (Drama) so it’s not all that bad, I guess.

In just two years, Lux Style Awards would be celebrating its 20th edition. It is just baffling that the biggest and the oldest award show of the country still continue to make snubs that could very easily be avoided. Despite being engulfed in the same controversy year after year, the LSAs does not stop making the same mistakes. Let’s just hope that 19th time is the charm, maybe?

Exclusive: Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir got married last night in Canada

Literally (well I know I am not using the term correctly here but hello, what I am about to tell you totally justifies using it) all of us know about Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir’s adorable relationship. They have been all over our TV screens and social media, for the past many many months. Be it Mama Mir’s Instagram account or the actors’ own, the two are everywhere (and honestly, we are not complaining).

Some background on their relationship

Sajal and Ahad became everyone’s favorites as Asfi and Zubia after their blockbuster drama Yaqeen Ka Safar was aired on our televisions.

Last year in August, in an interview with BBC Asian Network, Ahad addressed the speculations regarding his relationship with Sajal Aly. While he did not deny or accept the possibility of a relationship between the two, he had the following to say: “I’ve met Sajal at a really good time in my life. She knows me for who I am, which I think is a beautiful thing. I’ve loved working with her. Apart from that, she’s a very special individual. I think we’re both huge supporters of each other. My family is a big supporter of her. We love her, we love her work. She’s a fantastic person.”

And honestly, this was enough for us, hopeless romantics, to keep going.

Here is the real deal

Having said that, turns out the couple got married last night in an intimate gathering in Canada, as per our internal sources, close to the family. I KNOW, I KNOW! I AM EQUALLY EXCITED AND AWE-STRUCK!

According to our sources, only a handful of people were invited to the ceremony, including the couple’s close friends and family. The wedding took place in Toronto and it was, what we usually call an intimate affair. While we do not have many details about the ceremony itself, I think we can make our peace with the fact that one of our favorite couples – on and off-screen – has finally tied the knot.

It is also being said that the reason the two wanted to keep their wedding hush-hush is because they wanted to have it just for themselves and not for the public (and again, we are not complaining. To each their own, I guess).

We are currently in touch with our sources and we’ll update you as soon as we find out more details. For now, we just know that Sajal did not dress up as a quintessential red-dress bride for she opted for a rather subtle look, with even subtler colors. Stay tuned to Galaxy Lollywood for Ahad and Sajal ki Shadi ki pictures and more details about the ceremony.

And oh! Happy April Fool’s DAY!

Box Office: ‘Teefa In Trouble’ completes its 50 crore run!

Teefa in Trouble has been a mega blockbuster through and through, for the local cinema. Interestingly, it is the only film which was released on a non-holiday but still managed to amass mammoth collections, at the local box office. In simpler words, the film opened amidst election days but still managed to stay afloat and collect big numbers.

A Box Office marvel

Teefa in Trouble, during its original run, collected a total of 34.5 crores locally and 14 crores from the overseas, taking its total to 48.5 crores approximately.

Since the ban on Indian content, that was imposed in February, many local films were brought back in the cinemas; Teefa being one of them. Last night, Ali Zafar announced on his social media accounts that the film has amassed a total of 50 crores worldwide on the revived run. This shows that the film, despite releasing online, could still add 2.5 crores more to its tally.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bvq6qq4FMz6/

For a non-holiday release, Teefa in Trouble has exhibited numbers which will be very tough for any other film to beat in the near future as most of our big-ticket films only release on one of the two Eids. Teefa has proved that good content does well on any given date and the public loves to watch good entertainment cinema.

Furthermore, what makes this record even more worthwhile is the fact that the film was able to collect a whopping 50 crores worldwide, despite the fact it was a debut film for three people i.e. two main leads Ali Zafar, Maya Ali, and the director, Ahsan Rahim. In my own personal opinion, no film in the near future seems capable of breaking this record. Ali Zafar’s next local release will definitely be a film to watch out for and looks like Teefa is no more in trouble.

Box Office: ‘Project Ghazi’ opens to shockingly low numbers!

Project Ghazi first premiered in 2017. Due to a number of technical issues, it was decided that the film would not be released. The movie finally hit the silver screen again, yesterday after almost two years of its first premiere. We recently published its review that predicts that Project Ghazi may not be able to do well on the box office. Now that the numbers are here, they support our prediction too but being the optimists that we are, we are going to keep our fingers crossed and hope for a miracle.

Project Ghazi

Project Ghazi had a shockingly low opening, and even though we were expecting it to stay on the lower side, the numbers are just dismal. According to EPK, the film was able to collect approximately 30 lacs only which is the lowest number for a film starring Humayun Saeed. Even Bin Roye had a better start when it was released four years ago, despite the fact that it clashed with Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Wrong No.

The film ‘may’ see better numbers on the weekend, though we don’t think that’s actually going to happen because the first-day business has witnessed some troublingly low numbers. We, however, hope that the film gets a miraculous increase in numbers for it to sustain itself, in the coming week.

Sherdil and Laal Kabootar

As for Sherdil and Laal Kabootar, surprisingly both held well on the second Friday. According to EPK, Sherdil has collected around 50 lacs on its second Friday which unfortunately is more than what Project Ghazi has raked in on its first day. The overall eight-day total for Sherdil is about 6.55 crores. Here is the breakdown:

Week One: 6.05 crores
2nd Friday: 50 lacs
Total: 6.55 crores

As for Laal Kabootar alone, the film has earned almost 15 lacs on the eighth day of its release which is a good sign since the film had about the same numbers when it opened last week.

Below is the film’s approximate business until now, as per EPK:

Week One: 1.29 crores
2nd Friday: 15 lacs
Total: 1.44 crores

The film is expected to hit the 2 crores mark in the upcoming 3 to 4 days, depending on its performance on the box office.

Project Ghazi (Review): Poor execution fails what could have been a good science fiction film

Movie Name: Project Ghazi

Release Date: March 29, 2019

Director: Nadir Shah

Review by: Momina Mindeel

Sherdil released on the 22nd of March. We, at Galaxy Lollywood, had issues with its all-over-the-place plot but we still predicted that it’d do well on the box office because well, patriotism sells. The prediction turned out to be true as the film has approximately grossed 6 crores over the first week of its release. Then released Project Ghazi (yesterday) and even though, it shows nationalism in a positive light without any hatred for any country, I’ll still never forgive them for meddling with my cognitive abilities. And oh! call it a prediction or my sixth sense, Project Ghazi will, most probably, not do well at the box office either despite all the patriotism, it is trying to sell.

From extremely poor editing, below the average execution, incoherent plot to infinitely poorly developed characters, the only thing Project Ghazi can be lauded for is daring to venture into an unexplored genre in Pakistan; science fiction.

What the film is about

This heading is honestly ironical, to begin with for even I don’t know what the film is about. The film revolves around a team of scientists (headed by Talat Hussain back in the day) working in unison with the soldiers from Pakistan Army to produce a new breed of advanced soldiers. The project is called (well, you guessed it) Project Ghazi.

Everything is going well until suddenly, a group of men with weird masks and unclear motives (you keep waiting for them to reveal their motives until the end but it just never happens, there is literally no context to why they’re doing what they are doing) attempt to seize the project. Syra Shahroz, in unison with two distinguished soldiers (that’d be Sheheryar Munawar and Humayun Saeed), tries to stop them, in the most underwhelming of ways.

Acting

Forgive me for saying this but the only thing Sheheryar Munawar’s character has going for himself in Project Ghazi is his looks. While some argue that this is done on purpose for his character is supposed to be robotic, I still think it could have been executed better. The performances by the rest of the main cast are underwhelming too. Even veteran actors such as Talat Hussain do nothing to salvage the shipwreck that Project Ghazi is.

However, I’ll admit that Humayun Saeed and Syra Shahroz, in particular, look really good on screen. Their acting constitutes one of the good parts of the film so let’s just give credit where it’s due.

As for the character development, every character is poorly developed; even the relationship amongst characters is hap-hazard and does not bring out any feelings whatsoever in the audience. Talat Hussain plays the role of Sheheryar’s uncle who suddenly betrays his nephew, towards the end of the film. Now, one would expect to feel something about this betrayal but that never happens because guess what, their relationship isn’t really developed to that point, to begin with. Same goes for every other relationship in the movie. Sheheryar and Syra flirt here and there too but nothing becomes of it.

Moreover, given it is supposed to be an action-packed, science fiction film, the action sequences, too, are underwhelming with no element of suspense whatsoever. Everything is just happening somehow and you sit there wondering how the movie is just so much potential gone to waste.

Music, art direction and more

The movie does not have any songs which isn’t always necessarily a bad thing but honestly, Project Ghazi could have done with a one, good song (or maybe I am being too ambitious). There is this weird, suspenseful background music in most of the scenes which a) does not fit with the narrative b) is distracting as hell and c) is not even pleasing to hear.

The only thing the film has going for itself is the art direction. The movie presents a very nice visual experience (according to Pakistani standards). The laboratories where Syra – the scientist is working on God knows what look aesthetically appealing, the robots and similar gadget-y stuff (don’t blame me for not knowing what they are called for the movie makers don’t either) look incredible too. The film has a lot of (wannabee) Hollywood action film feels which is commendable but also a little out of the place.

Verdict

Project Ghazi‘s art direction is a manifestation of the fact that the film could have been a good Pakistani science fiction film if the director/writer had put in some effort to come up with a coherent plot and a better execution of it. I’d give the film 2/5 stars for trying to venture into a not-so-explored genre.

But honestly, till when are we expected to give Pakistani cinema the points for ‘at least trying’?

Box Office: ‘Sherdil’ truly wins the box office and we are hopeful about ‘Laal Kabootar’ too

22nd March witnessed the release of two Pakistani films; Sherdil and Laal Kabootar. The week following that (which would be the previous week) has, fortunately, been good for Pakistani cinemas as three major releases (two local films including a foreign, US) have brought some joy, and more importantly good footfall.

Sherdil

Sherdil has done the most business among all the releases as it has approximately grossed 6 crores over the first week of its release. The film opened big and later sustained on good levels along all the week-days. The film has found acceptance at the centers where films with patriotic angles (say India-Pakistan angle) usually do well i.e. Rawalpindi and Islamabad. It looks like the film will be the first 10 crores grosser for local cinema this year and we are just going to keep our fingers crossed.

Below is the film’s detailed week one business, as per EPK:

Friday: 1.15 crores
Saturday: 1.7 crores
Sunday: 1.3 crores
Monday: 47 lacs
Tuesday: 55 lacs
Wednesday: 46 lacs
Thursday: 42 lacs
Total: 6.05 crores

Laal Kabootar

The film has been running on lower levels since its release for its first week total stands at 1.3 crores approximately. The good thing is that Laal Kabootar has maintained well on weekdays but the numbers could have been better considering the large number of shows it has. We hope that the film has a good second weekend and a long run at the box office to be successful in rightful terms, given the raving reviews.

Below is the film’s detailed week one business, as per EPK:

Friday (includes premiere shows): 30lacs
Saturday: 25 lacs
Sunday: 22 lacs
Monday: 12 lacs
Tuesday: 13.5 lacs
Wednesday: 13.5 lacs
Thursday: 13 lacs
Total: 1.29 crores

US

US was a major Hollywood release but it has not really shown any spark in terms of collections. The first week total for this has been around 40 lacs; these collections are on the lower side but the good thing is the film has not totally crashed. We hope this one stays afloat for a longer time and garners an overall good number until its end.
