Zara Sheikh finally returns to big screen this February

By Aayan Mirza

It is definitely to her credit that at the time when being an actor in Pakistan film industry only meant being an actor in substandard formula films, Zara Sheikh, unlike many of her fellow actresses, kept herself at bay from such projects and only did a project that would manage to lift itself up from the usual formula.

And thus no doubt that brands like Mobilink and Bonanza exist in her portfolio and no doubt that she was the face that the famed Saqib Malik chose to be paired up with the superstar Shaan Shahid while directing, what now stands as a classic; the music video of Fuzon’s super-hit ‘Khamaj’.

Rating: 2/5 stars

It was a few years back when the first teaser trailer of the film “Good Morning Karachi” (previously titled as Rafina) was released and people could not stop talking about it. The film, directed by award winning Sabiha Sumar, promised an inside look into the glamorous world of the Pakistani fashion industry and the buzz generated by the trailer was huge.  Personally for me, this film was even more special as it would bring my two loves “fashion” and “film” together in one medium and hence the film became the most eagerly awaited Pakistani release for me. So imagine how excited I was when the film finally hit cinemas this weekend and I finally got a chance to lay my eyes on the film that for me should have been nothing but perfection.

It would definitely hit many as a shock that the action laden upcoming thriller, Mission 5, is no more going to be a collaborative project between Asad Ul Haq’s ‘Shiny Toy Guns’ and Shaan Shahid’s ‘Riaz Shahid Films.’

What was to be a collaboratively produced mega budgeted project between the two production houses, rests now solely in the hands of Shaan Shahid as the production of the film had to be halted due to some scheduling issues between the two parties.
