India Copies Pakistani Song ‘Gagar’

Gagar/Mehndi

India plagiarizing Pakistani content is nothing unheard of. Pakistani songs, their compositions and tunes are being copied by those across the border all the time. In fact, just earlier this month singer Brham Darya copied Shani Arshad’s track ‘Ki Jana’ frame to frame in his music video.

This time its singer Dhvani Bhanushali with her latest track ‘Mehendi’ which copies heavily from classic Pakistani song ‘Gagar.

What Happened

The song is originally from one of the pioneers of pop music in Pakistan, Alamgir. A remake by Umair Jaswal however was released last year for VELO Sound Station. Dhvani’s song ‘Mehendi’ while having it’s own original lyrics copies the exact tune from the Pakistani songs. The composition in the chorus part of her song is a blatant rip-off of the Pakistani classic and yet no Pakistani has been credited for the song in any capacity.

The Outcome

The song became the most viewed song on YouTube in 24 hours beating out big names for the top spot. Umair Jaswal took to Instagram to call them out. He tagged all the creatives behind the song including Alamgir.

Bollywood being a huge space and yet it still relies heavily on Pakistani musicians’ works. However, with its gigantic audience they are almost always bound to outperform the Pakistani originals. Plagiarism like this is most frustrating because ‘Mehendi‘ with its plagiarized tune will reach the most people and be known as its own original work by the general population. Meanwhile the Pakistani creatives didn’t even get as much as a song credit.

Recently with the internet at least its easier to call out plagiarism so it doesn’t go unnoticed anymore. We can only hope that people from India themselves call out their own creatives from blatantly ripping off others because it needs to stop.

Is Priya From ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ Inspired By ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’s Kashaf?

Priya and Kashaf

Pakistani dramas are widely appreciated all across the world for their realistic content and believable executions. Despite having unpleasant political differences, even Indian audiences and critics have been applauding our dramas.

But we often get to see our content being plagiarised too by the content creators of India for their art pieces. Many of our classic songs are plagiarized and copied to their versions of videos for Bollywood movies or music videos such as ‘Hawa Hawa’, ‘Disco Deewane’ and ‘Zaalima Coca Cola’ most recently.

Another such situation was observed by many people when Sony Entertainment Television launched a sequel to their cult classic ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain Season 2’. Produced by renowned Ekta Kapoor, the story looks in many ways inspired by Pakistani drama ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’, which was a hit in India too.

The Obvious Similarities

The show revolves around Ram and Priya, two completely different individuals who fall for each other. The central character of the show, Priya, played by Disha Parmar, is a character whose story seems to be clearly inspired by ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’s’ Kashaf Murtuza, played by Sanam Saeed.

Priya is an independent young girl, who is the third daughter to a single mother, who was divorced by an egoistic man because he wanted a son. Priya’s father married another woman with whom he has a son.

After the divorce, Priya’s mother took over all the responsibilities of the household and raised her daughters alone. Due to the baggage of a traumatic childhood, poverty and lack of facilities, Priya becomes a bitter person while growing up, who doesn’t believe in love and romance.

Well that’s a story we have seen and loved before, isn’t it?

The Execution

The execution of the show is completely different from the usual Indian soaps. Despite a similar narrative to ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ in Priya’s track, it is refreshing to see a story being executed in a much realistic manner. In fact, it contains some really endearing moments that one appreciates while watching it.

Conclusion

To create a story inspired by another is not something new. Stories do travel, look copied, get inspired due to the number of people who relate to a similar mindset or thought process. And especially in South East Asia, we know how people think alike and relate to certain scenarios abundantly.

Why Is Mohsin Abbas Haider Missing From The Promotions Of ‘Baddua’?

Mohsin Abbas Haider

Remember the time when Mahira Khan starred opposite Shahrukh Khan in ‘Raees’ but we didn’t get to see her in any sort of promotion at all. Something similar is what we’re observing these days. Though not on such a grand scale as Mahira Khan being excluded from ‘Raees’ promotions or the animosity between India and Pakistan that led to this happening, but something on similar grounds. The point of discussion here being, Mohsin Abbas Haider missing from the promotions of his latest drama ‘Baddua’ on ARY Digital.

We recently noticed how the cast of ‘Baddua’ everyone, including the leads Muneeb Butt and Amar khan were seen promoting the drama on various platforms, online and television as well. But what intrigued us was the absence of Mohsin Abbas Haider. Now, no matter what, an actor, when he has performed in a project, deserves to be a part of its promotions and Mohsin’s absence was certainly felt by his fans.

What Do We Think?

Now, there is absolutely no denying the fact that actors have always been a part of their project’s promotions, no matter how small their role might be. We can take the example of Amar Khan in ‘Qayamat’. Although Amar’s track in ‘Qayamat’ was short lived, she was seen promoting the drama everywhere and was even seen in the posters as well. But Mohsin Abbas Haider is completely missing from ‘Baddua’. Although Mohsin has shared a few pictures and videos on his social media, but that’s that.

There is absolutely no denying the fact that Mohsin Abbas Haider is an exceptional performer and he has work to prove it.

What Does iDream Entertainment Say?

Galaxy Lollywood reached out to Abdullah Seja of iDream Entertainment, the force behind ‘Baddua’ and here’s what he had to say.

“Its a guest appearance and not a full-fledged role. We didn’t want to reveal much about what he is doing and for how long he will be in the play. Hopefully, your question will be answered by the next episode,” shared Abdullah.

So, if that’s the case, lets wait and see the next episode of ‘Baddua’ to get our answers.

Mohsin’s Say

Mohsin Abbas Haider spoke to Galaxy Lollywood about the matter and he clarified that he’s currently on vacation, hence isn’t actively involved in the promotion. Also, he has a short-lived character, therefore he doesn’t need to own the show completely, unlike Muneeb and Amar, who play the main lead. Similarly, he wasn’t part of the promotional content of Deewar-e-Shab, as he had a guest appearance in that as well.

Farhan Saeed And Sana Javed Pair Up For HUM TV’s ‘Kaala Doriya’

Kaala Doriya

Farhan Saeed was last seen in the drama ‘Prem Gali’, which ended early this year. He is now set to return to television with the supremely talented Sana Javed, whose last drama was ‘Dunk’.

The pair will be seen together for the first time in HUM TV’s upcoming drama ‘Kaala Doriya’. Penned by ‘Suno Chanda’ and ‘Ishq Jalebi’ writer Saima Akram Chaudhry, helmed by ‘Deedan’s’ director Amin Iqbal and produced by Momina Duraid.

Farhan Saeed has previously worked on Saima Akram Chaudhry’s script for the popular drama ‘Suno Chanda 2’ back in 2019, with viewers and critics raving about his performance.

Details Of The Show

In an exclusive interview with Galaxy Lollywood, Amin Iqbal revealed interesting details about the upcoming project. He said: “It’s a beautiful family play, full of emotions, penned by the famous and seasoned writer Saima Akram. ‘Kaala Doriya’ is like a baby for her. She has a style of writing, though this is different from what she has written before.”

He added: “I am extremely excited to work with Farhan and Sana. This is the first time I’ll be working with them.”  He is also looking forward to creating this project with HUM TV and hopes for it to be another success. Amin Iqbal has previously directed 2015’s drama ‘Maan’ for HUM TV and he will also be helming another much-anticipated HUM TV drama ‘Ishq e Laa’, starring Sajal Aly, Yumna Zaidi and Azaan Sami Khan.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting to see Farhan Saeed and Sana Javed’s chemistry on-screen. The news has already created a buzz on social media. The shooting will begin soon. Stay tuned to Galaxy Lollywood for more updates.

Amanat: A Different Take On Love Triangle

Amanat

‘Amanat’, one of the most awaited dramas of ARY Digital, aired last night. This play is written by Rukhsana Nigar, directed by Shahid Shafaat and produced by Six Sigma and Next Level Entertainment. The show has an ensemble cast including Imran Abbas, Urwa Hocane, Saboor Aly, Haroon Shahid, Gohar Rasheed, Asad Siddiqui, Babar Ali, Srha Asghar, Salman Saeed, Shehryar Zaidi, Saba Hameed, Zainab Qayyum and Saima Siddiqui.

Story

‘Amanat’s’ story has two parallel tracks. On one hand, the story follows the upcoming exchange marriage of Zarar with Zunairah, and Samra with Raheel, played by Imran Abbas, Saboor Aly, Srha Asghar and Salman Saeed respectively.

Zunairah is extremely rude, impudent and spoiled. Zarar is exactly the opposite of her; he is very caring and responsible. Zarar’s mother’s character is played by Saba Hameed. Unlike other dramas, she is playing the role of a good mother-in-law.

Junaid, played by Haroon Shahid, is Zarar’s younger brother. Junaid feels less-worthy in his family as he is often compared with his successful brother Zarar.

On the other hand, the story unfolds the unfortunate life of an orphan girl Maher, played by Urwa Hocane. Maher lives with her paternal uncle Furqan, played by Babar Ali, who is barbaric and ruthless. When Furqan forces Maher to marry his mentally unstable son Qaiser, played by Gohar Rasheed, Saeeda, Furqan’s wife, helps Maher escape with Saeeda’s nephew Fawad, played by Asad Siddiqui. Maher and Fawad marry and run far away from Furqan. Infuriated, Furqan vows to find them.

Rationality and Relatability of Characters

Zunairah’s character is completely unreasonable. This character is very much like Shiza from ‘Azmaish’, an ARY drama which recently ended. Zunairah behaves impertinently even without any reason. The writer showcases that upon breakage of a vase, Zunairah insults and even raises her hand on Junaid. Such extreme scenarios seem illogical. The majority of our current dramas entail an obsessive girl’s character who obsesses over a boy in the entire drama, whether it’s ‘Ishq Hai’, ‘Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay’, ‘Azmaish’, ‘Mere Apne’ and now ‘Amanat’. Even before marriage, Zuneera creates issues for Samra and Raheel. She even constantly argues with Zarar.

Additionally, despite knowing the barbaric nature of Furqan, Fawad takes Maher away. The writer has not shown as to whether Fawad is in love with Maher or not. That is why, although the story is interesting, it lacks rationality and relatability.

Performances

The majority of the cast comprises acclaimed actors, therefore, each performance in the show is worth praising. Starting with Gohar Rasheed, who is already ruling the internet with his spectacular performance in ‘Laapata’, gives yet another phenomenal performance as Qaiser. The challenging role of a mentally unable person whose mind is 20 years younger than his age, is remarkably played by Gohar. Babar Ali’s character is different from his previous work. He is playing a negative role in ‘Amanat’. His performance, in terms of dialogue delivery and body language, is highly gripping. Although Saboor Aly nailed the role of Zunairah, she is back with another negative character which the audience has already seen her perform.

Direction And Production

‘Amanat’ is a mega-project. This high budgeted production entails mega sets and locations. While the direction is not phenomenal, much attention has been paid to the camera resolution, picture quality and editing. Overall, the cinematography and splendid blend of colour schemes are eye-catching on-screen.

Conclusion

Although ‘Amanat’ is another love triangle. The popular actors, spectacular performances and mega sets will surely draw substantial viewership.

I Didn’t Want To Do Stereotypical Television Roles: Resham

Resham

Recently Faseeh Bari Khan has been talking about how he had to change the script for the Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar starrer ‘7 Din Mohabbat In’ and how he thought that change absolutely destroyed the soul of his story. Faseeh also stated that if he would get a chance, he would direct his script himself in the future and it seems he has gotten that chance now. The writer-director is now working on his debut short film titled ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ with none other than the gorgeous film turned television star Resham in the lead.

Resham, who recently shot for See Prime’s short film ‘Long Distance’, which is earning rave reviews on the internet, had a lot to say about working for the digital realm and exploring characters she hadn’t done before.

Resham’s Idea Behind Signing ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’

Talking to Galaxy Lollywood exclusively, Resham shared how the role offered to her in ‘Long Distance’ and ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ were both something new. “I had been getting offers for characters that were very stereotypical from television. I didn’t want to do those. I don’t want to act just for the sake of it but do something that fulfils me. With Faseeh, I know how he creates his dark humour and how he blows life into it, so I absolutely loved the script and character in ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’. I liked the idea that was offered to me in the script,” said the starlet.

Talking about working with Abdullah Ejaz and new talent on her recent projects, Resham added, “I prefer working with new people because they have a lot of potential. I like to take risks because they have always paid off for me. The new people coming into the industry are very talented and they work professionally. This gives me a lot of motivation.”

Resham shared how she had fallen in love with the character offered to her by Faseeh. “I really liked the character and since it was Faseeh’s so I couldn’t say no. I have already worked with Faseeh on ‘Mohabbat Jaye Bhar Mai’ and it was a super hit serial for Hum TV. And I’m sure ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ would also be appreciated for what it is.”

“People get scared working for Fasih because it does not have a lot of glamour. His work requires you to showcase your talent and that is exactly what I’ve been looking for now. In the past, I have had to do work to earn my bread and butter for the family. I’ve done characters that I would never want to do but since they fueled my kitchen, I did those. But that time is gone now and I now want to explore my passion for acting,” added the actress.

Talking about the story, Resham shared: “This is a story about a couple in a live-in relationship and their breakup. The idea is different and it’s something that has never been done before. You’ll see a lot of pain and broken hearts in this story but it has a very unique factor, of that I can assure you.”

YouTube Release Of The Short Film

Being no stranger to censorship, Faseeh Bari Khan avoided the risk and will be releasing ‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ on YouTube. Highlighting in a recent interview with Dawn Images that releasing his projects on YouTube allowed him more creative freedom than television, Faseeh shared: “We realized that the kind of content I can’t make for television, I can put up on YouTube. I have an upcoming short length film for YouTube, it is called ‘Gulzar’ and tackles the subject of sexuality. It is hard to do this kind of stuff for television anymore. You can see the state of content on television for yourself. YouTube really helps us fulfil our inner satisfaction in this sense.”

Sharing her two cents on the short film releasing on the digital platform, Resham shared: “The audience for YouTube is the youth and I really want the youth to witness my work now. This is one of the main reasons I took this up. YouTube being a platform allows you to explore different genres without any restriction and is open to the youth, which is part of the reason why I took up the short film as well.”

‘Dafaa Hojao Tum’ is a short-length film and will see Faseeh Bari Khan and Faiza Hasan working on the project with Resham and Abdullah Ejaz in the lead.

Analysing The Unique Filmography Of Director Abu Aleeha

Abu Aleeha's filmography

Signing up for multiple films is a healthy sign for any director, but there isn’t any surety that all of them will end up seeing the light of the day as per the scheduled date. One such director is Abu Aleeha, who is on a roll, as he announced several films with few big stars over the past couple of years. Some of the trailers and BTS footages did surface on the internet, but what makes the audience curious is the release prospects. So, what is the issue? Let’s analyse.

Released Ventures

The filmmaker has movies like ‘Tevar’ and ‘Kataksha’ to his credit. The 2019 films not only opened to an average response at the box office but also got negative reviews from the critics. However, his body of work showed his inclination towards the horror, suspense and action genres.

Films on hold

Sheenogai

This thriller stars biker Marina Syed as the protagonist. The film is loosely based on the horrific motorway rape case that occurred at the Lahore – Sialkot motorway. Going by the trailer, the movie depicts a woman stepping out of her home alone, giving no liberty to anyone to touch her. It also stars theatre actors Ayaz Ali and Bilawal Hussain.

Once Upon a Time in Karachi

Next up is the action-comedy that revolves around social issues. Starring Mohsin Abbas Haider and Nausheen Shah in leading roles, the premise revolves around a middle-class man and his daily struggles eventually affecting his married life. An official poster was released in April 2020 followed by an action-packed teaser. The rest of the cast includes Marhoom Ahmed Bilal, Adnan Shah Tipu and Yasir Taj.

Lockdown

The film, announced in June 2020, features Mirza Gohar Rasheed and Sonya Hussyn. The plot shows a couple affected by the horrors of COVID-19. It highlights the repercussions of the pandemic and lockdown. It is written by Abida Ahmed. Actress Faryal Mehmood was the first choice for the female lead but due to some date issues, she backed out. A sneak peek was shared by the director on Instagram.

Udham Patakh

Touted to be Pakistan’s first zombie horror comedy, actors Faizan Sheikh and Hira Umer will make their cinematic debuts with this one. Cinema in Pakistan has been saturated with romcoms; therefore, the trailer of ‘Udham Patakh’ and its tagline that says “Zombies Se Darna Nahi, Larna Hai” comes across as refreshing. The blend of political satire tossed with social media trends looks interesting. Produced by Javed Ahmed Kakepoto, it features Syed Ali Rizvi, Shabana Hassan and Taha Humayun in major roles.

Half Fry

Abu Aleeha yet again made headlines in 2019 with another film ‘Half Fry’, starring real-life couple Yasir Hussain and Iqra Aziz. The masala entertainer has an ensemble cast that includes Faizan Khawaja, Faryal Mehmood, Danish Nawaz, Sana Fakhar, Ismail Tara and Saleem Mairaj. However, Yasir confirmed to Galaxy Lollywood that the film has been shelved. He said: “We only shot for that project for a day, and Iqra did not even get to face the camera. The film essentially didn’t make it to the floors, and as to why that happened, the director can tell you better.”

Film on Floors

Badmashia

This movie was announced last year. It is directed by Abida Ahmed and will mark the debut of television actor Raeed Muhammad Alam. The story is based on a street fighter from Lyari, who raises his voice for his rights. It will also feature versatile actors Saleem Meraj and Yasir Taj in pivotal roles.

The Untold Story Of A Serial Killer

A few weeks back, Abu Aleeha had announced ‘The Untold Story Of A Serial Killer’, based on the life of a murderer Javed Iqbal, played by Yasir Hussain. Ayesha Omar will be seen in the role of a police officer. The film is being currently shot and scheduled to release around October – November.

There is another project, ‘Jehnnaam‘, which he announced last year but the cast and other details haven’t been revealed yet.

The Issue

According to IMDb Abu Aleeha has all the above films in the pipeline, but no one really knows about their fate. However, the well-researched facts say that the delay is primarily because of the pandemic. While the COVID-19 pandemic and its rules still loom, the films will hit cinemas once the restrictions are lifted.

Final Word

The viewers are waiting for the time when he makes an announcement for either his films to release or his next enticing project. Having said that, it would be interesting to witness his craft that offers different genres and that, too, are made on a limited budget.

Review: ‘Baddua’ Starts Off With Powerful Storyline And Gripping Execution

Baddua

The much-anticipated drama, ‘Baddua‘ aired last night on ARY Digital. After justifying the role of the suppressed Samra in ‘Qayamat’, the supremely talented Amar Khan returns to our TV screens as the strong-headed and stubborn Abeer, opposite the talented actor Mohsin Abbas Haider and the nation’s heartthrob Muneeb Butt.

Plot

Baddua’ revolves around Abeer, played by Amar Khan, a young, self-willed and obstinate girl, who belongs to a typical middle-class family. Mohsin, played by Mohsin Abbas Haider, is a kind and loveable boy, who is head over heels for Abeer and also struggling with his professional life to achieve his goals. But Abeer, being an egocentric individual, doesn’t value his true emotions and continues to lead him on. Abeer gets infatuated with her friend’s fiancé, Junaid, played by Muneeb Butt and keeps leading on both men.

How Is The Plot Problematic?

The first episode, in spite of being a slow-paced show, manages to present its narrative quite impactfully. The basic storyline of ‘Baddua’, despite having powerful plot points, doesn’t really look anything different from our usual dramas like ‘Jhooti’, ‘Dilruba’ and ‘Jalan’, where a central female character destroys several lives and leads on a number of male characters. We also get to see Mohsin’s spineless cousin, who claims to die if he refuses to marry her. It is not a delight to see such a portrayal of women, who are not stern in any possible way.

Performances

Actress Amar Khan delivers yet another amazing performance. To see her in a polar opposite character this time is indeed a treat for her fans as well as the regular drama viewers. Mohsin Abbas Haider is already a seasoned actor and Muneeb Butt, in his short appearance, is also convincing as the rich and handsome Junaid.

Apart from the sensational lead stars, ‘Baddua’ also features an ensemble supporting cast that performs brilliantly. Including actors like Samina Ahmed, Mahmood Aslam, Shaheen Khan, Salma Hassan and Maryam Noor. The drama will also witness some new entries in a couple of episodes which will bring actors Osama Tahir and Saba Faisal to the plot along with some twists and turns worth waiting for.

The Makers

‘Baddua’ is another project of Abdullah Seja’s iDream Entertainment Production, which released its two new dramas ‘Berukhi’ and ‘Mere Apne’ last week on the same channel. Directed by ‘Jhooti’ and ‘Khwab Nagar Ki Shehzadi’ fame Ramish Rizvi, ‘Baddua’ is penned down by Samina Ejaz of ‘Yaariyan’.

Summing Up

Baddua’ serves a powerful first episode that manages to hook viewers right away with some impressive performances and a gripping storyline and execution. Hoping to see the story get more interesting in the following episodes and not end up being a typical one.

Mere Apne: Another Story Of Cousin Love And Vicious Family Ties

Mere Naam

The mega launch of ‘Mere Apne’ aired on Sunday. It is an ARY Digital project written by Qurat-ul-Ain Akhter & Dilawar Khan, directed by Mohsin Mirza and Tehseen Khan and produced by iDream Entertainment. The cast of the show includes Usama Khan, Ali Abbas, Hajra Yameen, Zainab Shabbir, Waseem Abbas, Zoya Nasir, Tanveer Jamal, Firdous Jamal, Ayesha Khan, Arez Ahmed and Agha Mustafa.

Story

‘Mere Apne’ is another story of cousins’ love and family politics. This drama unfolds the love story of Umar, played by Ali Abbas, and his paternal aunt’s daughter Neha, played by Hajra Yameen.

Umar has two brothers; Kashif and Usma, played by Agha Mustafa Hassan and Arez Ahmed respectively. Rimsha, played by Zainab Shabbir, is their younger sister. Neha has a flirty, greedy and unsuccessful brother Hamza, played by Usama Khan.

Umar belongs to a rich family, whereas Neha is from a middle-class family. Mahmood, Neha’s father, played by Waseem Abbas, is a negative character. He envies Umar’s father, played by Tanveer Jamal. Umar’s spiteful sister-in-law, Shumaila, played by Zoya Nasir, wants her sister Maryam to marry Umar, who is madly in love with him.

Umar’s mother dislikes Neha and wants Maryam as Umar’s wife. When Umar’s father asks for Neha’s hand, Mahmood conditions it with Rimsha and Hamza’s marriage in order to gain monetary benefits. Hamza, on the other hand, tries his best to persuade Rimsha to marriage because of her money and status.

The typical storyline and similar characters

In present times, the majority of dramas have stories of cousin love and vicious family ties. ‘Mere Apne’ offers nothing new to the viewers. Even the characters are very much similar to other dramas. For instance, Umar’s mother is playing a vicious role of a mother, who is absolutely against her son’s love. She has one niece as her daughter-in-law and wants the other niece to marry her second son. She plans and plots with her nieces to ruin Neha and Umar’s relationship.

This track is similar to the ‘Ishq Hai’ drama, which recently ended. Similarly, the character of Maryam is exactly like Nimra of ‘Ishq Hai’. Following the footsteps of Nimra, Maryam desperately wants to marry her cousin, who is not at all interested in her. Even the next events in the dramas are very predictable. The audience will witness typical women rivalry and marital disputes. Zoya Nasir, who is performing the role of a vicious bhabhi in this play, performed a similar negative character in ‘Zebaish’

Performances

All the actors played convincing roles in their respective characters. Waseem Abbas’s performance stands out. His acting as Mahmood is worth praising. Usama Khan plays a negative role in this play. His performance is different from his previous work.

Direction And Production

Although the cinematography of ‘Mere Apne’ is similar to other iDream Entertainment’ projects, the locations and backdrop are wisely chosen. The typical story does not provide any experimental directional opportunity to directors, but the story is well executed on screen.

Conclusion

‘Mere Apne’ bears a conventional story of intricate family ties and love triangles. The story does not stretch beyond marital issues, women rivalry and love struggles. Appreciable performances by the lead cast may build interest in the audience.

“Government Should Make A Dress Code For Showbiz”: Veena Malik

Veena Malik

Veena Malik has always been criticized for her bold avatar in the past. However, there has been an evident shift in her appearance and views in the past couple of years.

The present Veena Malik strongly verbalizes her religious belief and staunch support for Islam and Pakistan. She recently gave an interview, in which she explicitly backed the Taliban Government and discussed her return to showbiz after 12 years.

On-Going Situation Of Afghanistan

When asked to comment on her strong online support for the Taliban’s occupation in Afghanistan, Veena Malik corrected the host in reply. She stated: “You used the word occupation, whereas I believe that Afghanistan belongs to Taliban. This is their land, they fought for it”.

Choice Of Dressing

When asked about her Instagram post in a burkha and whether she is planning to visit Afghanistan, she revealed that she loves Kandahar. She particularly talked about the burkha. She disclosed: “Burkha has been part of my life since I was 13 years old, not because it has been imposed on me but I feel extremely secure and safe”. She further revealed: “I’m extremely shy and an introvert, I find it difficult to deal with people therefore I feel comfortable in burkha”.

She was asked if the Taliban is imposing a dress code for everyone, whether she is in favour of this act. Veena stated: “I believe Afghan people will happily follow the dress code because Afghanis are well aware of their traditions and culture”. According to her, she has not seen any resistance in Afghan society pertaining to the dress code. “Let them be happy please,” she added.

When asked if she feared that the dress code implementations might affect Pakistani society, Veena maintained: “Pakistan is a sovereign land, people are wearing every type of dresses here, and girls have the freedom to wear the clothes of their own choice”. Veena further opined: “I believe government should make a dress code for showbiz as well, there should be some mentioned boundaries of dressing outlined by government for people in showbiz”

Future Of Entertainment In Afghan

On the topic of the Afghan government limiting the entertainment activities in Afghanistan and if she feels empathy for Afghan entertainers. She replied: “No, I should sympathize with those actors who are working in such industries where women are forced to wear skimpy clothes”. She further added, “I believe women are more uncomfortable in such industries as compared to those which have certain dress code to follow”. She continued “I believe we should leave this matter only to the Afghan government, Afghan people and their artists”.

She was again asked that Afghanistan is a nearby country, so should we be worried. Veena Malik firmly restated: “Those industries which have no limits, where people can do any sort of wired acts, I find that scary”. “There should be a limit,” she added.

Her Comeback

Veena Maik was asked that why she is returning to the entertainment industry after a long gap of 12 years.  She revealed: “it has been 12 years since last season of ‘Hum Sub Umeed Say Hain’. I was in touch with the writer Yunus Butt, we wanted to create some good content together.” She continued: “I wanted to give time to my kids, now they have grown up so I’m back in the showbiz”. Revealing details of her new project Veena stated: I’m coming back with a socio-political satire that will be aired on UrduFlix.

Veen Malik further divulged that she is excited to mimic one of her favourite politicians, Firdous Ashiq Awan. When asked that her Twitter is evident of her political inclination, will it affect her new show? She maintained “Party in government usually bears more criticism, although I’m a big fan of Imran Khan, I’m not sure about Yunus Butt and the director”, she laughed.
