Where Were Tanno and Saleeqa in Last Episode of Kaala Doriya?

Kaala Doriya
Kaala Doriya last episode

In an industry profiting from sensationalism and storylines based on repetitive domestic feuds, Kaala Doriya was a wave of fresh air. It didn’t mean to inspire; it didn’t mean to revolt – in fact, not many of us will remember most of what happened in Kaala Doriya for a long time to come. However, it did what a peak Hum TV drama should do – it entertained.

Kaala Doriya, Hum TV’s popular comedy play, aired its last episode this week. Written by Saima Akram Chaudhry and directed by Danish Nawaz, Kaala Doriya starred Osman Khalid Butt and Sana Javed in prominent roles.

The comedy play was a relief for viewers otherwise host to saas-bahu scuffles and domestic tensions on-screen. Kaala Doriya harvested Suno Chanda’s fame to create an extended storyline that could create a similar impact.

What Happened in the Last Episode of Kaala Doriya?

The last episode of Kaala Doriya saw a much-deserved happy ending. Asfandyar and Mano finally got married after a roller-coaster ride of emotions and romance.

Both Osman Khalid Butt and Sana Javed delivered an energetic performance, and fans couldn’t stop but gush at Osman Khalid Butt’s energetic entry to the wedding. The comedic last episode wasn’t short on family unions and feel-good moments.

However, fans of the drama saw one major noticeable flaw in the storyline. Saleeqa, the mother of Asfandyar, played by Zainab Qayyum, and Tanno, the mother of Mano, played by Nadia Afgan, were both absent from the wedding and last episode in general. Imagine a wedding without both the bride’s mother and the groom’s mother.

Where Were Tanno and Saleeqa in the Last Episode of Kaala Doriya?

There is no official confirmation yet on why Nadia Afgan and Zainab Qayyum were absent from the last episode of Kaala Doriya.

Actor Osman Khalid Butt responded to a query and mentioned that there were scheduling problems and both actors couldn’t make it to the shooting even while wanting to.

However, our team has caught hold of a confession made by Nadia Afgan (Tanno) while responding to queries online.

The actress can be seen saying that Danish Nawaz, Saima Akram Chaudhry, and Hum TV Marketing didn’t want to show much of her during the drama and the promotions for it. Nadia Afgan put the blame for this hypocrisy on her blunt nature and honest character. She also said that fans wanting to see more of her should see her bits on repeat because the team wouldn’t budge.

Lack of Industry Support

Besides the problems surrounding Tanno and Saleeqa’s absence in the last episode, there have also been questions regarding the subdued promotions and hype for the drama.

Osman Khalid Butt posted a social media message yesterday that hinted towards a lack of support towards Kaala Doriya’s script from everyone, top to bottom. The actor attributed the success of Kaala Doriya to the changing trends. According to Osman Khalid Butt, television producers and big-shots shouldn’t rely on peddling misery to produce a hit.

Despite being marred by promotional issues, a lack of support from industry insiders, and some internal rifts, Kaala Doriya has still managed to produce a decent last episode. The drama may act as a harbinger of change in an industry that has for ages focused on domestic feuds and rifts for ratings.

Ali Zafar Takes Baton from Qari Waheed Zafar to Deliver Soulful Rendition of Faslon ko Takalluf

Ali Zafar in Faslon ko Takalluf

Faslon Ko Takalluf is a naat as old as time itself. All of us can relate to memories of Qari Waheed Zafar expressing the deep religious sentiment of the naat through his words.

Faslon ko Takalluf is a true uniting force in Ramzan, as everyone comes together to experience the meaning of struggle in Islam, as narrated through the lyrics of the naat.

This Ramzan, Ali Zafar has taken the baton from Qari Waheed Zafar to deliver his soulful rendition of Faslon ko Takalluf.

What We Feel

Ali Zafar’s Faslon ko Takalluf engulfs you in an inspiring message of hope and blessing. Ali Zafar is gentle, elegant, and consistent with his voice. He delivers perhaps his most soulful performance, without missing on the greater message at hand.

The 10-minute experience truly ignites the Ramzan spirit, as you find yourself surrounded by the consistent acoustics and the pain of the message. Ali Zafar takes you to a whole new sphere of spirituality, and as the naat beautifully emphasizes, ‘hum wahan ja ker wapis nhi ayengey, dhoondhtay dhoondhtay log thak jayengey.’

Ali Zafar’s Coming of Age

How often has Ali Zafar mesmerized us all? How often have we all been left in awe of the singer’s vocal expertise and charisma? Faslon ko Takalluf is Ali Zafar’s coming of age.

He did show signs of what’s to come in Balaghal Ula Bi Kamaalihi, but Ali Zafar has swept us away with Faslon ko Takalluf. Let us all hope that he keeps continuing his growth as a vocalist and delivers more of this every Ramzan.

The Message of Hope in Faslon ko Takalluf

The lyrics encourage Muslims to develop a more personal and intimate relationship with the Prophet, rather than focusing solely on formalities and rituals. The naat expresses the idea that true love for the Prophet comes from the heart, and it cannot be measured by external actions or appearances.

This Ramzan brings with it a message of hope and survival. Let us all rise out of these complications because Hum bhi beybas nhi, bey sahara nhi.

Spooky Yet Elegant: Gulabo Rani Is An Usman Mukhtar Masterclass

Gulabo Rani

Gulabo Rani is a spine-tingling Pakistani horror thriller featuring a young cast that does a spectacular job of portraying fear around the age-old tropes of haunted hostels and estranged spirits. The film is directed by Usman Mukhtar, who does a tremendous job of creating a sense of eeriness that is crucial for the film.

Gulabo Rani Plot

The plot revolves around a young boy named Usama Javed Akhtar, who joins a university hostel and is placed in a room in the historically haunted part of the university.

From the very beginning, the director draws the audience into the story by establishing the atmosphere of the hostel. The creaking floorboards, the shadows that seem to move on their own, and the feeling of isolation and dread that permeates every scene all contribute to a sense of unease that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The characters are well-developed, and the actors all do an excellent job in portraying the fear and anxiety that their characters are experiencing. Usama Javaid Haider, who plays the lead role, is particularly impressive in his portrayal of a young man who is struggling to cope with the paranormal events that are happening around him.

Khushhal Khan, who plays the university bully, is also excellent in his role, bringing depth and complexity to a character that could easily have been one-dimensional.

The character of the university bully is presented as someone who has experienced a traumatic event in his childhood, which has influenced his behavior and treatment of others. This theme is particularly poignant in the context of the horror genre, as it highlights the idea that the real monsters in our lives are often the ones, we create ourselves.

Directorial Brilliance in Gulabo Rani

The director is successful in integrating traditional horror-film tropes of “churails” and “badroohs” to presenting human emotions. The film also touches on the idea of bullying and how it can have a lasting impact on a person’s life.

One of the strengths of the film is the way in which the director is able to make the audience care about the characters. As Stephen King famously said, “Horror movies work better when we have a stake in the game. The more we care about the characters, the more human they are to us.”

Usman Mukhtar, the director, successfully makes us care about the characters in Gulabo Rani. We feel Usama’s fear and anxiety, and we understand the trauma that the university bully has experienced. This makes the horror elements of the film much more effective, as we are invested in the outcome and want to see the characters survive.

Questioning Fear and Past Experiences

The film does an excellent job in questioning fear and how our past experiences influence how we tackle fear and challenges that come our way. The characters present different versions of the story, adding to the sense of mystery and intrigue that permeates the film. The confrontations with the spirit herself are intense and well-executed, and the climax is satisfying and cathartic.

Overall, the themes of fear, trauma, bullying, and isolation are all expertly woven into the fabric of Gulabo Rani, elevating it beyond a traditional horror film and making it a thought-provoking exploration of the human psyche.

Expert Lighting and Acoustics

The sound design is top-notch, with eerie whispers and creaking floorboards contributing to the overall atmosphere of the film.

The lighting in Gulabo Rani is a standout feature of the film, and it perfectly captures the eerie atmosphere and suspenseful tone that are crucial elements of the horror-thriller genre. The director, Usman Mukhtar, expertly employs various cinematic tropes to create a visual language that heightens the tension and fear in the film.

For instance, the low-key shadows not only contribute to the film’s unsettling atmosphere but also add to the mystery of the haunted hostel. The strategic use of chiaroscuro lighting, which is the contrast between light and shadow, also serves to highlight the ghostly apparitions that appear throughout the film.

Moreover, the use of color is also noteworthy in Gulabo Rani, with muted tones and desaturated hues used to evoke a sense of foreboding and dread. The cool blue and green hues that dominate the color palette create a sense of detachment and otherworldliness, underscoring the supernatural elements of the film.

Our Verdict

Some snappy edits may be off-putting to some viewers, few of the cuts and edits don’t really make sense as a viewer, but you’re willing to ignore little sloppy errors when the director and his crew has done a splendid job in suspending disbelief.

In conclusion, Gulabo Rani is a must-watch if you want to learn how horror is done. The performances are excellent, and the direction is top-notch, creating a sense of dread and suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The short-film has already won 7 awards and is well on its way to global recognition. Whether you are a horror aficionado or just looking for a thrilling ride, Gulabo Rani is a must-watch for anyone who appreciates well-crafted storytelling and exceptional film making.

Here’s Why Ushna Shah’s Comments on Qavi Khan Were Valid

Ushna Shah on Qavi Khan

Our entertainment industry is notorious for not giving veteran actors their flowers and often neglecting them. Nowadays, older actors are treated as secondary in comparison to the younger stars.

Award shows are more focused on chasing clout using the latest big name rather than giving veteran actors the recognition they deserve. Not too long ago, a legend such as Badar Khalil retired from showbiz after she was disrespected at an awards show to accommodate Fawad Khan.

Here is a detailed look at some veteran actors and the years of hard work they’ve put into the industry.

So, when National award-winning veteran actor Qavi Khan sadly passed away earlier this month, it sparked a debate. Here’s why we think that Ushna Shah’s comments had some truth to them.

Ushna Shah’s Comments on Qavi Khan

The ‘Habs’ actor tweeted the following.

Shah pointed out that Qavi Sahab was never given any Lifetime Achievement Awards before he passed. She also went on to call out the industry at large for not giving its legends their due recognition while they are still around.

The Backlash

Rabya Kulsoom responded to this tweet via an Instagram comment with a fact check.

She went on to list all the awards that Qavi Khan was awarded at a national level. Rabya also asked to “stop making a point out of everything,” implying that Ushna was just looking to create an issue out of nothing.

Ushna’s Response

Ushna responded to this backlash via Instagram stories, clearing her side and giving us a better understanding of where she was coming from.

She clarified that while yes Qavi Khan has received national awards, the veteran actor was never recognized by any private awards. Shah explained that the drama industry is privatized as are the awards. Ushna also made clear that her intent was not to throw jibes or start debates but to open up this conversation so we don’t repeat such mistakes with legends that are still alive.

According to Ushna, Qavi Khan was expecting a recognition award from a leading award show, which he ended up not getting. That was the cause of great sadness for the actor.

Ushna’s co-star and director on ‘Habs’ Musaddiq Malek, whom she mentioned in her story, also backed this in a tweet.

It is indeed tragic for us to know that a legend like Qavi Khan left without proper recognition and due acclaim. It is to note that Khan did receive the ‘most impactful character award’ for ‘Alif Allah Aur Insaan’ at the 6th HUM Awards.

Therefore, Ushna’s comments, albeit unclear at first, are quite valid. We should think about all the other actors that helped shape our industry that are feeling neglected by said industry.

Embracing Change

Award shows like Lux Style Awards and HUM Awards have a responsibility. They should be preserving these legends and immortalizing them for generations to come rather than going after the newest viral sensation.

We can only hope that this debate doesn’t just end here with Ushna and that awards do acknowledge their influence and do some much needed good with it. We are also hoping that Qavi Khan can be given a Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously. Read here for a thorough recap of the icon’s career.

For now, all we can do is be less conservative towards controversial, yet honest criticisms of the industry. Our entertainment industry is for the people, and the people collectively make it bigger and better. We need to recognize legends of the days gone by, and realize the honest message Ushna Shah wanted to portray through her misunderstood tweets.

Lessons to Learn From the Aima Baig and FHM Pakistan Situation

Aima FHM Conflict

Fake news is a huge problem in this new age of social media. Facts are often distorted and misconstrued. Some even go as far as to using it to their advantage to push a certain agenda.

The latest example is the currently trending Aima Baig and FHM Pakistan story. Let’s discuss.

Aima Baig and FHM Pakistan Situation; What Happened?

Aima Baig appeared on veteran actor Samina Peerzada’s extremely popular talk show ‘Rewind With Sameena Peerzada’ back in 2018. The Coke Studio singer talked about several topics regarding her life including her childhood.

A clip from this interview resurfaced recently and got taken out of context. In the video, Baig is asked about her first childhood crush. She responds by telling Sameena about her having a crush on her older brother’s friend. Here is the actual clip of what she said.

The clip when taken out of context, however, made it sound as if Aima had a crush on her own brother. This clip was then turned into a misleading headline by media news company FHM Pakistan which they posted on Instagram.

Aima Baig Responds

Baig immediately took to her Instagram Stories to express her disgust, calling out the publication for its “yellow journalism.”

She then went on to condemn their actions further when FHM denied her allegations. She also included a link to the actual clip which is shared above.

The Instagram post is still up on FHM Pakistan’s page, but the caption has since been edited which now clearly states that she had a crush on her brother’s friend.

This, however, was not enough for Aima. She shared a copy of a legal notice on Instagram which demanded the news company to pay Rs100 million for damages with a written apology within 48 hours.

The notice also mentioned the influence that a page like FHM Pakistan holds. They are considered a credible source which makes the fake news even more damaging.

When contacted, FHM Pakistan said it is preparing an official response through its legal team.

Our Verdict

This whole case teaches us a lesson of how easy it is to create and circulate seemingly credible fake news. Even the most harmless clip can be taken out of context and used for some heinous allegation.

Proper research and authenticity should always be paid more attention than sensationalism since stories like this can lead to careers being tarnished.

It is also worth noting that this legal notice may set a precedent which may lead to some dangerous ramifications. If news publications keep making such huge mistakes, what’s stopping those in power from completely taking away their voice? Hopefully this case is resolved soon, and lessons are learned because we will all be the better for it. Stay tuned to Galaxy Lollywood for any further updates regarding this story.

With dramas high on emotions left, right and centre, Heer Da Hero will come as a breath of fresh air. We hope Heer Da Hero goes on to live and raise the bar set by its predecessor.

Is There Gender Pay Disparity in Pakistan’s Entertainment Industry?

Gender Pay Disparity

Iffat Omar is not new to making controversial statements. Her outspoken personality and the convictions on her beliefs can be seen all over her social media as well as media appearances. She is also not new to being bashed for the said beliefs and statements as they tend to not sit right with the majority of the social media users.

Concerns Over Gender Pay Disparity in Pakistan’s Entertainment Industry

Recently, Iffat Omar sparked another debate with the placard she chose to display at this year’s Aurat March Lahore. Iffat has been a staunch supporter of the Aurat March movement and has attended the event in the past as well. For this year, she chose to highlight the issue of pay disparity in the industry.

The placard which read, “Kaam poora toh ujrat aadhi kyun?” (Why pay half for the work done full?) was posted on several social media platforms. On one Instagram account, a user sarcastically and crudely ‘replied’ to the placard with the comment, “Kyuke apko acting nahin ati.” (Because you don’t know how to act).

Iffat Omar chose to reply to that comment retorting that if she doesn’t know how to act, then why are there people lining up to work with her? It’s her who refuses the work. Iffat continued to highlight the issue of pay disparity in the industry in the comment and name-dropped Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan as an example to support her claim.

Mujhe tu acting nahin ati, per Mahira ko bhi Fawad jitne paisay nahin milte.” (I may not know how to act but even Mahira [Khan] doesn’t get equal money as Fawad [Khan]).

Not a New Conversation

Now, the conversation around pay disparity in the Pakistani entertainment industry is not sudden by all means. Back in 2015 the conversation had gotten mainstream traction in Hollywood when Oscar winning actor Jennifer Lawrence wrote about her frustration at actresses being paid less than their male co-actors regardless of their contribution to the movie and the screentime.

Questions of pay disparity existing in the Pakistani entertainment industry had also been raised. Interestingly, back then some of the biggest A-lister actors had commented saying that the issue does not exist in Pakistan. Yes, Mahira Khan is also included in those A-listers.

What Do Our Male and Female Stars Have to Say?

Actresses have always been in a position of power,” Mahira Khan had commented. She also elaborated how money is not an incentive for her when she chooses acting projects rather she takes financial matters more seriously when it comes to commercials as that’s where she chooses to set standards.

Veteran actress Atiqa Odho is known to earn a hefty sum for any project she does owing to her seniority and stature in the industry. She has been vocal about actresses’ right to demand money that reflects their stardom and contribution to the project citing her own work as an example.

Mehwish Hayat too had frankly commented that there is no pay disparity in the Pakistani entertainment industry. Responding to a question on a talk show about whether male and female actors are offered different pay for the same project, Mehwish had commented “It’s actually equal. What the male lead gets, we [female leads] get the same amount as well. I am very happy about it that there’s no pay gap here.”

Amar Khan went on-record to say that in the Pakistani drama industry, women are paid more than the men. “Unlike cinema and theater, television is a running industry; so, we get paid well. We get paid more than the man of that same drama. Women are paid more in dramas.” Amar pointed out that in Pakistan, channel owners and content heads are women so the drama industry is already “empowered” in that regard.

Hina Bayat, however, contradicted these actresses’ comments. “Women are consistently paid less and made to feel that they don’t really need the money since they are not the primary bread earners of the family.”

Humayun Saeed who has produced and starred in many commercial successes both on TV and film was of the opinion that while he would never settle for a lesser paycheck than what he thinks is his right, he is always supportive of the actresses who demand for more money for their work.

Humayun pointed out that the reason some actresses are paid less is because they don’t know their worth and they settle down for what they are being offered instead of demanding more as their worth. The women get paid accordingly to their demands.

Let’s Talk About Pay Disparity

Pay disparity is an issue that is prevalent all around the world. It stems from the root cause of countless problems – gender discrimination. Iffat Omar marching for equal pay on this year’s Aurat March whose entire manifesto is based on highlighting the problems Pakistani women face due to the rampant and deeply rooted gender discrimination within the country is not all that surprising.

However, Iffat Omar bringing up an issue that many big-name actors of the industry have gone on record to say does not exist in the Pakistani Entertainment industry does make one wonder. Was it Iffat Omar’s personal experience that made her march with the placard than what she had observed happening around her to other actresses’ part of the same industry as her.

It is a fact that the Pakistani dramas make up for the majority of the Pakistani entertainment industry and our dramas are ruled by women. Not just on-screen with heroines being the face of most of the dramas being made in the industry, but off-screen as well with producers, writers, and content heads that decide which dramas get made or not also being women. Women being paid less than men in an industry where women have such influence and power sounds a little absurd.

How Did Celebrities React to Calls for Imran Khan’s Arrest?

Celebs react to IK arrest

Chairman PTI Imran Khan is undoubtedly one of the most popular politicians in the entire political history of Pakistan.

Following some unfortunate political conflicts, Imran Khan’s arrest warrant was issued yesterday, which led to a nationwide expression of disappointment by his followers and admirers.

Our entertainment industry is host to a number of Imran Khan fans who did not shy away from putting their opinions across regarding the issue. Several Pakistani artists went to social media to express their opinions and make their support heard.

What Was Malala Doing at The Oscars?

Malala at the Oscars

Ever since Malala’s walked the red carpet at the 95th Academy Awards, her iconic dress and empowering presence have become the talk of the town, with the whole world appreciating her presence. However, like always, Pakistanis are having a tough time acknowledging Malala’s success. Social media is rife with Pakistani netizens, questioning her presence, with few even making personal attacks. A few even asked what was Malala doing at the Oscars?

And we’ll be honest; it was a sorry sight!

Although most choose to ignore Malala’s success and her achievements willfully, Pakistanis must understand why Malala was invited to the prestigious occasion and what’s her contribution to the film scene.

What Was Malala Doing at the Oscars?

In 2022, Malala stepped into movie production by launching her production house called “Extracurricular”. She has produced films like Joyland under the banner and is roped in for more exciting ventures with Apple TV.

Her production, a heartfelt documentary about how interactions with a Muslim family transforms a racist planning to attack a local mosque, called “Stranger at the Gates” was nominated by The Academy for the best short documentary film feature.

Although the documentary did not win any awards, Malala and her team should be incredibly proud for telling stories that unite the world.

Malala’s Message

Malala’s message about the importance of education for girls and women resonates far beyond Pakistan. It is a message that is relevant to girls and women all over the world, including in developed countries where gender inequality still exists. By advocating for girls’ education and women’s rights, Malala is not only promoting change in Pakistan but also inspiring change worldwide.

Pakistanis should be proud of Malala’s achievements and recognise her as an icon for Muslim and Pakistani women. Instead of criticizing her, they should support her in promoting education and women’s rights. By doing so, they can help build a better future for all Pakistanis, regardless of gender, age, and demographics.
