Is Hum TV Using Wahaj Ali’s Fame to Promote Previous Dramas?

Hum TV Using Wahaj Ali

Wahaj Ali is riding on newfound glory. He has transitioned from being just another actor to this year’s golden boy. Such is his fame that production houses are trying to engage him in new projects left, right and center. We even covered all of his upcoming projects in an article, and the list seems to be growing rapidly.

However, Hum TV are repurposing old content and promoting it on their social media and YouTube handles.

Hum TV is Promoting and Uploading Mah e Tamaam and Bharam on YouTube

Hum TV is Promoting and Uploading Mah e Tamaam and Bharam on YouTube. Mah e Tamaam first aired in 2018 and Bharam first aired in 2019. Both dramas had Wahaj Ali in a prominent role, and Hum TV couldn’t let the opportunity of cashing in on his fame slip by.

The TV channel posted a promotion for Bharam and marketed it for a release on their YouTube channel. Hum TV conveniently forgot to mention actress Noor Zafar Khan and fixated on the ‘hearthrob Wahaj Ali’, which is pretty evident of them trying to cash Murtasim’s fame.

Posting a Picture of Wahaj Ali as Murtasim Khan

Besides trying to promote Bharam through Tere Bin’s and Wahaj Ali’s newfound fame, Hum TV also seemingly used a picture Wahaj posted under the guise of Murtasim Khan. The image they’ve used for the promo was posted by Murtasim in a recent Insta post.

Other Channels Also Catching Up and Using Wahaj Ali

Besides Hum TV, TV One is also re-uploading episodes of Dil Na Umeed To Nahi. Starring Tere Bin hit couple Wahaj and Yumna, Dil Na Umeed To Nahin first released in 2021.

TV channels jumping on the fame bandwagon and trying to cash on Wahaj Ali’s popularity is a new for us. Obviously, nothing beats TRP and ratings, but it is always good to create new content rather than repurposing old content when an actor goes famous.

Here is Why Fat Shaming Asim Azhar is a New Low for Social Media Trolls

Asim Azhar Fat Shaming

Pakistani singer-songwriter Asim Azhar recently captivated audiences with his sensational performance in the United States. He uploaded pictures of his performance on Instagram, and fans were quick to praise his talent and charisma.

However, unsurprisingly some fans were quick to hop on the trolling express by resorting to body shaming, with few comparing him with Adnan Sami.

Despite the overwhelmingly positive reception, a section of Asim’s fanbase focused on criticizing his physical appearance, making offensive and personal remarks, with some even involving his family members.

Offensive and deeply personal remarks are an unfortunate yet common feature on all images our celebs upload. And Asim is no stranger to the upsetting remarks the Pakistani troll brigade hurl at him. Asim’s love life has been the interest of local trollers, who have thrown jibes at him and his romantic interests regularly.

The singer cum actor usually chooses not to engage with distasteful remarks, but this time it seemed the singer had no option left other than respond.

Asim Azhar Responds

Asim Azhar, in response to the body-shaming and offensive remarks directed at him, swiftly addressed the situation by shedding light on the choice of his attire during his performance. The talented Pakistani singer-songwriter clarified that he had purposely opted for baggy clothing, which may have created an illusion of being overweight.

By addressing this misconception, Asim aimed to counter the negativity surrounding his appearance and redirect the focus toward his musical talent and the energy he brought to the stage.

While it is understandable that Asim felt compelled to address the comments, there are reasons why ideally, he should not have felt the need to respond to trolls.

Trolls thrive on attention and derive satisfaction from provoking emotional responses. Acknowledging their remarks, even with a well-intentioned clarification, Asim inadvertently gives them the attention they seek, potentially encouraging more trolling behavior in the future.

However, we can understand that constant exposure to hurtful remarks can be mentally draining and may detract from an artist’s ability to focus on their craft.

Asim’s decision to address the trolls may have been a personal choice driven by a desire to clarify misconceptions and promote a more positive narrative. It serves as a reminder that artists are human beings who have the right to defend themselves and assert their individuality when faced with unjust criticism.

A Lesson for the Fans

The incident involving Asim Azhar sheds light on the broader body shaming problem prevalent in Pakistani circles. Even our dramas and movies often use weight-related jokes for comic relief, further perpetuating a culture that normalizes such behavior. This normalization not only affects the individuals being targeted but also sets a harmful precedent for impressionable viewers.

In the contemporary world, where social media plays a significant role in shaping public discourse, fans must exercise sensitivity and empathy towards their favorite stars. While it is natural to have personal preferences, it is crucial to separate subjective opinions from derogatory and hurtful comments. Instead of focusing on superficial aspects, fans should celebrate their favorite artists’ artistic abilities, dedication, and achievements.

As fans, we can shape the narrative surrounding our favorite stars and influence the broader fan culture. We must challenge and reject the notion that body shaming has any place in our interactions or entertainment choices. Let us appreciate and celebrate our favorite artists’ diverse talents and abilities, acknowledging that their worth lies in their skills, dedication, and the joy they bring to our lives.

“Anti-State” Activities Get TV Ratings Agency Media Logic Banned

Media Logic Banned

The Ministry of Interior issued a notification on Tuesday announcing a ban on TV ratings agency Media Logic and all its operations.

The company has been operational since 2007 and has been a major TV ratings provider. Let’s discuss what this potentially means for the company and the media landscape.

Why Is Media Logic Banned?

Although the Ministry hasn’t made any explicit claims against the agency, the severity is made evident by how seriously the administration is handling this matter.

The agency is currently under fire and investigation. The Ministry cited the company’s alleged involvement in illegal activities that raised concerns regarding national security. This ban has been put in place to protect the sanctity and stability of the media landscape in the country.

The notification was sent out to all appropriate institutions, halting any future transactions or operations with the agency. This ban is a major setback for the company and tarnishes any future prospects.

The Seriousness of the Matter

The noted media rating agency remained in the news for quite some time for its alleged role in manipulating ratings and evaluations of mainstream TV channels. The TV rating companies and the TRPs that they report are crucial since these numbers are the basis on which advertisers choose which channels to sponsor.

These numbers coming into question could hurt the entire market and may sour channels’ relationships with brands. It is uncertain if the company will pursue the legal route to combat these claims. No Media Logic official has issued any statements yet.

Isn’t It A Bit Too Late For A Change Of Narrative In Tere Bin?

Tere Bin latest episode

Last week went by in frenzy for all Tere Bin fans. There was a lot of hue and cry on social media against marital rape and violence shown in the drama.

Following the angst on social media by the viewers, even the producers were forced to share statements about not jumping to conclusions. However, whatever transpired on television last night proved one thing correct. It was indeed marital rape showcased initially and then the narrative was hastily changed to placate the worked up audience, hence the patchy episode with bad editing and million flashbacks.

And even so if it was, a few things just didn’t sit well with us. Lets discuss what we think went wrong in the drama last night.

Why Self Loathe If It Was Consensual?

Last night’s episode was all about flashbacks and proving to the audience that whatever happened between Meerab and Murtasim was consensual but that confused us the most.

How could something that happened with the consent of both parties have such a violent reaction? Why the entire self loathing episode then? Alright Meerab’s reaction can be justified that she had had Murtasim sign a contract and then her own consent was a breach of her own contract. But, then again if it was consensual, why show so much regret?

Okay so Meerab left the house out of shame for having lost control. She felt devastated to have gone against her own claim of not wanting Murtasim and now wants to spend her life thinking it shouldn’t have happened. Now Meerab’s reaction is very much like her recent character development, unsteady and confused when it comes to Murtasim. She rushes in the heat of the moment, having no decision power at all and ends up making insane choices and the now shown narrative coincides with her character as well. But what about Murtasim?

Murtasim’s narrative seems not justified at all. Why is he hating himself on the pretext of not being able to hold back when his legally married wife agreed to whatever happened between them? Even if he thinks he broke her trust, agreeing to what Meerab also wanted, the self hatred and pain infliction isn’t just right. Maybe it was against Murtasim’s character to just let go of control but even if he did, he did it because he loved Meerab and this is a man who does everything for love.

Why A Change Of Narrative in Tere Bin?

Last night’s episode was a blur, increasingly confusing the already confused audience. Maybe the writer considered the audience dumb enough to digest a marital rape narrative riding high on the popularity of Murtasim’s character. Perhaps the backlash wasn’t expected and then the story line had to be re-done to placate the burn down that came with the last episode. This is the only explainable reason that can make last night’s episode of Tere Bin acceptable.

In a society like Pakistan, where we have numerous women suffering from domestic violence and marital rapes already, showcasing such a scene would have been in bad taste through and through. No matter how the storyline would have later tried to rationalise the scene, no amount of justification could have gotten Tere Bin its viewership back.

The conflicts and conversations that the lead characters had with themselves made us question our own understanding of boundaries within a marriage, especially in a country like Pakistan where we already have cases of marital rapes being hushed all over.

One just doesn’t understand who the makers are trying to fool with such a sudden a shift in the story? We have repeatedly questioned how the content creators begin with a story with no end in mind and end up spoiling a perfectly good narrative and this is exactly what has been done with Tere Bin.

The change in story has now confused us even more about what to expect from Tere Bin in the future. Maybe a few of us will still stick around to see how the story pans out, but for most of us it’s a rather sullen and sorry Goodbye!

Ehraam e Junoon: Neelam Muneer’s Shanzay is Ruling Hearts

Neelam Muneer in Ehraam e Junoon

Weaving together multiple emotions, Ehraam e Junoon is immersing audience on many fronts. While fans adore the chemistry between Shanzay and Shayan, Neelam Muneer truly is out there winning hearts!

Shanzay, played by Neelam Muneer, has already won over audiences with her innocence, beauty, and sweet gestures, and why shouldn’t she? Despite being a wealthy lady, Shanzay is taking adorable baby steps to win over Shayan – played by Imran Abbas. Shanzay’s desolation and admiration for Shayan shows on her face and we can’t have enough of her in the serial.

The Iconic Bike Scene in Ehraam e Junoon is Adorable

While the first two episodes successfully disclosed the plot, the third episode came up with an uber-cute moment that entertained the audience to no ends. Shanzay develops a plan to get to Shayan and quit bothering him with phone calls for the sake of Pizza.

She devises an idea to take Shayan’s bike in order to spend some time with him. Luckily, the guard outside Shayan’s building makes this possible by being a partner in crime, but that wasn’t all. Instantly, to show her concern and how guilty she is for Shayan’s loss, she buys a fancy bike for him. Although it was a trap to pave a path for friendship, Neelam’s acting was so on-point that viewers couldn’t get enough of it.

Despite the fact that the scenario wasn’t very well executed, our heroine manages to make it engaging via her acting abilities. In the scene, she appears to be guilty, adorable, concerned, and delighted — all in one go!

Neelam Muneer Shines in Ehraam e Junoon

Furthermore, we have seen her thrilled when Shayan apologises and sends her flowers — leading to another iconic moment where Neelam shines.

She passes a sweet grin to Shayan while wearing a bright dress, carrying a bouquet of flowers — looking like she just walked out of a mid-90s Bollywood movie!

Adorable Yet Classic

Audiences have also lauded Neelam in the two recent episodes, especially when she made Shayan upset during a lunch scene by introducing him to her friend as though the two of them were seeing each other (wink wink).

Faking the whole situation, Neelam’s eye says it all! For a moment, she knows what its like to be with a loving and good-looking guy. Neelam herself looks gorgeous, slaying in a green sequin dope maxi in front of her friend.

However, to our collective dismay, the situation makes Shayan very upset, who then decides to resign from the job he managed to get because of Shanzay.

Shanzay is a devoted lover — ready to bring the moon and stars for her Mr Perfect. However, she is by no means a dimwit, when she notices that Shayan no longer wants to communicate with her, she attempts to solve it as soon as possible and heads to Shayan’s home.

Accepting a Gift from Shayan’s Mom

The recent episode showed an emotional side of Shanzay. Being adaptable while interacting with Shayan’s family – tears come in her eyes when Shayan’s mother says goodbye to her with a gift.

Neelam Muneer’s acting skills are in full display when Shanzay accepts a gift from Shayan’s mom. The otherwise strong Shanzay gets emotional and tears trickle down her supple cheeks. The moment is adorable and Neelam Muneer wins us over with the heavenly portrayal.

Going by YouTube comments, Shanzay is the most enjoyable character of Ehraam-e-Junoon so far and has all the support and empathies of the viewers. Undeniably, the credit goes to Neelam Muneer, who has us all hooked.

Are Current Pakistani Dramas Questioning the Sanctity of Marriage?

Problematic couples

The institution of marriage is a bond as old as time itself. Our society and religion thrive on the sacred bond a husband shares with his wife, and the love and respect that blossoms between them. While media plays an important role in upholding cultural values, many viewers have objected that current Pakistani dramas are questioning the sacred bond of marriage.

Tere Bin, Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha, and Yunhi All Highlight Disrespect and Contempt in Marriage

While our dramas have profited from stories revolving around broken/unhappy marriages, the current wave of content is alarming for viewers. All three current hits; Tere Bin, Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha, and Yunhi show marriages where brides either do not accept the norms of marriage or revolt against the institution itself. A couple even show female protagonists finding solace elsewhere, despite the heavenly contract of Nikkah.

Tere Bin and Mujhe Pyaar Hua are quite similar, because they show loving men in Saad and Murtasim. Both protagonists, played by Wahaj Ali, love their wives and try their utmost to sustain their marriage and limit external influence. However, sadly, both Saad and Murtasim find unrequited love in Maheer and Meerab.

Maheer is smitten by Areeb, while Meerab is too stubborn to realize what she has gained, and focuses more on the little she has lost. Both stories show the male protagonists trying to protect and fight for their marriage, but in the face of unnecessary resistance and pressure.

Yunhi is a separate case altogether. From what we have seen of the drama yet, Kim has forgotten her cultural roots, and the writers somehow hold her education and upbringing for that. Dawood, pretty much like Saad and Murtasim, is a young man in love who is willing to go to all extremes for his marriage. But again, he faces stiff resistance from Kim.

Are Current Pakistani Dramas Disrespecting Boundaries in Marriage?

As much as an ideal relationship is about respecting privacy, individuality and freedom, the same thoughts should be given towards setting boundaries in a marriage. It’s a surprise that all current dramas trivialize respect and commitment in marriage, and show revolting characters who’re ready to break free from the relation at the first chance.

It is time our writers, directors, and other stakeholders realize the role they play as harbingers of change in our society. We as critics and viewers wish to see better storylines, more sense, and adherence to cultural values in the content that airs on national television.

Babylicious Sets Expectations for Release with Melodious Music Album

Babylicious Album
Babylicious Music Album Cover

What’s a love story without some soulful music? Music and love go hand in hand. In fact, melodies come second only to silence in expressing the inexpressible. Omer Essa Khan, the director and writer of upcoming Eid release Babylicious, has figured it out with soulful melodies to complement his real-life love story.

Babylicious Music Release

As the name suggests, Babylicious is a groovy love story that will take viewers through the ups and downs of love this Eid-ul-Adha. Starring Shahroz Sabzwari and Syra Yousuf in lead roles, Babylicious promises to be just as magical as the star cast.

The movie’s music album was recently released and ticks the right boxes with mystery, heartbreak, and dance numbers.

Starting the list is Ussay Jee Rha Hun by Sherry Khattak and Maria Unera. This number magically takes us to the budding romance of leads Shahroz and Syra. The lyrics and vocals point towards a buddinv romance that will go well with the movie’s storyline. Man Ranjhan by Nauman Shafi follows in the same breath with tales of love. The melody of Man Ranjhan is perhaps the most outstanding bit of the entire album.

Following this are singles Ranjhay Ko Na De Saza and Alvida by Asad Rasheed and Richie Robinson respectively. Both singers add their vocal strength to the song and focus on the separation in love. Alvida, especially, will bring some tears in the cinema hall.

Ghazab Kurriye is Babylicious’s last, and perhaps best entry. The groovy, dance entry is set to become a staple this wedding season and might be the talk of the town due to its upbeat music. Ahmed Jahanzeb has worked with Jonita Gandhi to do justice to the song and give us a groovy masterpiece.

Music Composers and Producers

Babylicious’s wonderful sound track and album is owed in part to the composers and producers behind the album. Adrian David Emmanuel has composed and arranged all songs in the album and has concocted the melodies we now enjoy. Additionally, Bilal Wajid has worked on programming all songs, with the exception of Alvida.

All in all, Babylicious’s music album covers all the titbits of a romance film. The album has melodies for love, odes for separation, and a groovy dance number to keep viewers hooked. We wish the makers all the best with their promotions and eventual release.

Is Ali Zafar a Better Singer or Actor?

Ali Zafar

In a recent interview, the multi-talented artist Ali Zafar made a surprising revelation about his career preferences. Known for his exceptional abilities as both a singer and an actor, Zafar expressed his inclination towards being recognized primarily as a singer rather than an actor.

In a tell-tale interview with Jang’s editorial, the versatile artist Ali Zafar shed light on his career preferences and delved into various other pertinent topics.

Ali Zafar is a Better Singer Over Actor

Ali Zafar’s last on-screen appearance in the 2018 film Teefa in Trouble marked a memorable chapter in his career. However, since then, the acclaimed actor and singer has noticeably taken a break from the film industry, leaving his fans eagerly awaiting his return to the big screen. Despite his successful foray into Bollywood, where he shared the screen with renowned stars like Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, and Ranveer Singh, his extended hiatus suggests a deliberate focus on other aspects of his artistic journey.

During this period, Ali Zafar released many chart-busting singles. Tracks such as “Larsha Pekhawar” and “Laila” showcased his musical prowess and reaffirmed his status as a versatile artist. However, since 2018, his long break from the film screen has meant that public views him as a singer over an actor. And Ali Zafar likes singing more than acting.

The Pakistani Film Scene

The talented artist highlighted the difficulties inherent in creating films that meet international standards and resonate with local and global audiences.

Zafar’s insights shed light on the complex dynamics that filmmakers in Pakistan contend with, including limited budgets, a lack of advanced infrastructure, and a dearth of experienced professionals in various aspects of filmmaking. He emphasized the need for comprehensive support systems and investments to overcome these obstacles and elevate the quality of Pakistani cinema.

Moreover, Ali Zafar acknowledged the importance of engaging talented individuals with the technical expertise and creative vision necessary to craft compelling narratives and deliver exceptional cinematic experiences. He stressed the significance of collaboration and cultivating a nurturing environment that encourages innovative storytelling and fosters the growth of aspiring filmmakers.

Advice for Younger Fans, and Priorities

During the insightful interview with the editorial, Ali Zafar not only discussed his career and the challenges faced by the film industry but also shared a heartfelt sentiment about his family. The multi-talented artist expressed his deep love and prioritization of his children, underscoring the importance of family bonds in his life.

Zafar’s emphasis on family values and the significance of spending quality time with loved ones resonated strongly with the readers. He went on to offer advice to young children, urging them to step away from the allure of social media and devote more time to reading books. His message highlighted the importance of intellectual nourishment and the benefits of exploring the world of literature.

By encouraging children to engage with books, Ali Zafar demonstrated his belief in the power of knowledge and the value of developing one’s mind. In an era dominated by digital distractions, his call to prioritize reading is a gentle reminder of the joy and enrichment found within a book’s pages.

Zafar’s words carry weight as he serves as a role model for young individuals and as a parent who recognizes the importance of guiding children toward meaningful activities that foster personal growth and development. By advocating for a balanced approach to technology and emphasizing the enduring value of books, he encourages the younger generation to embrace a more enriching and intellectually stimulating lifestyle.

Are Zara Noor Abbas and Haroon Kadwani from Jhoom the next Hit Onscreen Couple?

Jhoom chemistry

Good chemistry of the lead couple in a drama, regardless of the genre, is a difficult thing to achieve. Some actors have the best chemistry on screen and click with the audience on the get go, however others make it very hard for the viewers to believe in the relationship the lead couple portrays onscreen. Zara Noor Abbas and Haroon Kadwani come amongst the former, as they are sizzling our screens with their chemistry in Jhoom.

Past Examples of Hit Onscreen Couples

Over the years, we have had some strikingly good onscreen couples in our dramas. We had Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan from Humsafar, we’ve had Fahad Mustafa and Sanam Baloch in Kankar, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Maya Ali in Mann Mayal, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ayeza Khan in Pyare Afzal, Farhan Saeed and Hania Aamir in Mere Humsafar and the very recent Yumna Zaidi and Wahaj Ali in Tere Bin to name a few.

Adding up to the same chemistry of hit lead couples, we now have the very gorgeous Zara Noor Abbas and the dashing Haroon Kadwani from Jhoom. It seems Haroon Kadwani and Zara Noor Abbas are the next IT onscreen couple. While Zara Noor has that innocence on her face and demeanor, Haroon makes it up with his tough exterior and good looks. Together the duo create a well suited onscreen couple that just sizzles with chemistry.

What makes Zara & Haroon from Jhoom The Next HIT Couple?

Although we’ve only had a few episodes of Jhoom and there is a long way to go for the story to develop, we’ve had a good start for Dr. Maryam and Aryaan. While Maryam is soft spoken yet determined, Aryaan is tough yet loving. The duo is completely opposite for each other and attracts like magnets, resulting in a chemistry that sizzles the screen.

Haroon and Zara share a winsome bond with each other on screen and it is a delight to watch them together. The tension between the two characters is palpable and keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, something that is very necessary to hook viewers.

Love & Heartbreak For Aryaan and Maryam

After looking at the teasers we were certain that Jhoom was going to be a story of love and heart break. Because we have now seen how passionate and devoted Aryaan is, we have a hunch that this heartbreak is going to be a massive setback for the love story of the duo. Also Maryam who staunchly believes on her principles will never compromise on them just to be with Aryaan.

Since the love track is creating a buzz nowadays and the audience is loving Zara and Haroon aka Maryam and Aryaan together, it seems a lot of heartache and pain is in store for all of us who are rooting for the duo. Let us all fasten our seat belts and prepare for what is to come.
